Damn very humiliating giving all your clothes and you have nothing at least Zaiko saved him.

Those things used to happen often in the Congolese music-scene when bands were about to travel to Europe via Brazzaville. Ngadiadia did the same thing to Alpatshino and Djany Fayi, when they were about to travel to Europe via Brazza. Djany Fayi’s ex’wife even divorced from him because of that.

From 30:53 min Djany explaining the whole story

Ngadiadia and Chic Choc Loyenge went to Europe once back in 1997 and the others left to join other groups the European is very scary to know who is going to Europe and who is ending up staying behind.

Ngadiadia, Mangwau, Siatula, Sans Soucis, they were like those bandleaders of Congolese music-scene. Forcing people out, not liking to share money, leaving their employees behind on trips on a very nasty way, etc. Thinking about that, that it isn't a big surpise because most Congolese people function like that, they alot don't like the share money, doesn't support when someone does it better than them and those who having companies don't like to pay their employees. I know someone in Kinshasa who has 6 jeeps at his home and 6 houses in Gombe, Kintambo and Binza, but doesn't pay his employees.

It's not surprising at all, for example, Sans Souci had a fight with Tito and Siatula filmed Kombi Ewuti Poto which sold loads in Europe.

Mfumu Vata, Willy Bula join Zaiko in January 1997 when Koffi left behind again right ?

Damn I can't imagine how Willy felt after left at Brazzaville. Did Koffi did the same thing to Babia and Lebou Kabuya (if i'm not wrong he was also left behind for the Europe tour of 1997, but he was on the team who participated to the concert in Abidjan which happen before they go to Europe correct me if i'm wrong) ?

The Abidjan concert was labeled as a 1997 concert, but in reality it was 1996 concert. The concert took place somewhere in december 1996, just after releasing Wake Up and it was the last before their farewell concert in Kinshasa. After that they went to Paris to give a concert for christmas or the new year eve (I don't remember since that its already more than 20 years ago) with the whole band having visa's of 1 year long in their pockets. Koffi often use African concerts before tours as test, you will see in the concert of Abidjan, he brought Claudine AC Milan instead of Miette Shegue. In the concert of Nairobi before Madeleine and Olympia, Modogo, Kamono and Binda Bass (he was lucky, that Rocky Blanchard hadn't a visa, otherwise Koffi would bring Blanchard instead of Binda and we wouldn't have heard the song Urgence on Droit de Veto) were absent. The same concerts in Kenya, Zambia, etc. made Koffi decide to bring only Mboshi to Olympia, seeing that he could animate concerts alone. Before Bercy, he went on tour in Cameroon, without Beniko Popolipo and Do Akongo, testing how Bercy would be without them (them accepting it and thinking that it was a way to make the team of Fally, Kusa and co more mature, not knowing that Koffi had a plan against them).

Willy Bula spent some weeks at home, thinking about his future and then decided to join Zaiko Langa Langa. After that Babia Ndonga was contacted by people to join also Zaiko Langa Langa who was looking for new musicians, but he refused and decided to join Anti Choc since that he used to be a big fan of their band in his young days, like many people coming from the N'djili-area where Bozi used to have a big fanbase.

Koffi Olomide was doubting between Do Akongo and Lebou Kabuya, when he was about to tour to Europe, since that he was only bringing 3 guitarists at that time. Do Akongo had at that time never the chance to travel to Quartier Latin, while Lebou already went three times and his relation with Koffi was cold since the death of dancer Mboyo. (alot of things happened when she died, which made Lebou furious. One of the things was that Koffi called his girlfriend of France, saying that Lebou had AIDS like Mboyo, etc. Which didn't please him and leave Quartier Latin for a moment) So Koffi decided to bring Do Akongo, who had also a song in Ultimatum.

Babia Ndonga tought that he would go to Europe, since that he was the biggest star of Quartier Latin at that moment, after the succes of Magie and V12. He was surprised that Koffi picked Bouro over him, who was then just 3 months in the band and not very known. Babia tried to attack Bouro Mpela with a broken beer-bottle when he was, but people stopped him. So he then tried to suicide himself by brinking gasoline and was brought to the hospital.

Goodness, he tried to kill himself over European tour. Reminds of a story of Victoria Eleison back in late 1990 when everyone was ready to go travel to Europe there was a female singer called Denise (Who sang backing vocals in the Palais Du Peuple concert.) But sadly she was left behind and she lost her head because she did not travel. She was singing with Paul Balenza.

Was Denise the girl who of mixed races ? Did she made an interview on youtube? The trip of Victoria Eleison to Europe in 1991, was like they say "voyage ya makambo", Emeneya left Pinos behind (being furious against him, but not having the guts to tell it to him right in his face) and lying to him that he would join them, giving him a fake number and Pinos keeping calling them 1 year long. He wanted also to leave Safro behind, but changed his mind and forced him out along with Santana Mongoley (who fought with Emeneya's bodyguard) when they came in London (female singer Thethe then started to disrespect Safro in presence of Emeneya). This all just to have fully control over the band and the money, but he ended up by getting disrespected by Malembe Chante, Mbuji Mayi and co.

The comedians must have taken their troupes seriously to treat them the way singers and musicians treat their bands. Next you'll say those comedians were into witchcraft and sorcery.

Yeah, but Willy Bula is ungrateful. He ignored Nyoka Longo in his recent interviews, forgetting that it’s because of Zaïko that he’s in Europe.

Yeah, I wasn't really impressed with Willy Bula because he suffered in Kinshasa from 1997-1999.

I always wonder how it would be if Willy Bula returned with Zaiko to Kinshasa, since that Zaiko was in a big dip after Poison, but his song Mbombo'a Mbwa having some succes at the same moment. At least Willy Bula made it to become "Chef de repetition" in Zaiko and Rocky Blanchard also getting a function in Zaiko (what a stupid move from him to return to Quartier Latin along with Beniko, getting a jeep that doesn't work. He had to refuse the offer like Willy).

;D ;D It's a shame he wasn't seen on the rest of the poison clips I think Willy Bula would back to square one so Koffi offered Rocky Blanchard a jeep that doesn't work? It made laugh  ;D ;D

Koffi did that mutliple times to people, giving jeeps that doesn't work to journalists, spokemen and musicians. I think that he just recruited him to humilate him more, compared to Beniko who was very important for the artistic direction and the preparation of the Olympia-show. Because when Koffi went to Europe Koffi didn't ask a visa for Blanchard. It's only when the relation with Binda went on cold, that he changed his mind, but it was already to late.

About King Kester Emeneya it wasn't a big surprise, because he already had nasty tricks having support from Verckys Kiamuanga (they would end up by falling out), which made most of the guys who were the 12 apostles of Victoria Eleiso, leave the band to  create Victoria Principal. But Victoria Principal wouldn't last long because of Bipoli (he used to be a big clown and messed everything already up in Karawa Musica) with the most ending up by returing to Victoria Eleison, but not having the same rights like in the start. Because they returned like simple musicians, while in the start they were all co-founders (in meantime Emeneya went to the townhall to make from the name Victoria Eleison a registered trademark, making him being the only person to have fully right over the name).

Yeah, Bipoli didn't look serious leading Victoria Principal which made Safro join Choc Stars for a short while.

It wasn't about looking serious, but his behaviour. In Karawa Musica they gave Bipoli money to hire instruments for their concert at Maison Blanche, but instead getting instruments he went to give the money to his sidechick. So when he concert was about the start, Esperant found it strange that their weren't instruments at the place they had to perform. He tried to ask Bipoli about it, but he couldn't answer. Esperant wanted to beat him, Bipoli then ran for his life and returned back to Viva La Musica. It indirectly made Karawa Musica disband, because they functioned as a trio (Esperant-Bipoli-Jadot), the duet (Esperant-Jadot) didn't really work out. So Esperant Kisangani also decided to return Viva La Musica and Jadot would later also rejoin Papa Wemba. It gave Karawa Musica the label as biggest flop of the Congolese music-scene, since that they only existed for 6 months, while they started with a huge buzz, leaving Viva La Musica with 80% of Wemba's staff (Sharufa, Omanga and co.).

In Victoria Principal, Bipoli messed it up, by saying in the press that they just signed with Verckys Kiamuangana, while they had a contract with Pere Buffalo who gave them instruments. It made Pere Buffalo angry and he decided to take all his instruments back, leaving Victoria Principal with nothing. So from then the musicians started to return one by one back to Victoria Eleison (Patcho Star, Huits Kilo, Tofla Kitoko, etc.). Emeneya showing then his supremacy back just coming back from a short Europe tour with Victoria and by getting them back. Bipoli on his side disspeard from a moment and would rejoin Viva La Musica for a moment and go on tour with them in 1985 in Europe with Reddy, Luciana, Lidjo and co.

When Lutchiana re formed Karawa back in 1995 is it the same Karawa that had Esperant and jadot or his own version?

Its own version. The original Karawa Musica was formed in 1977 by Espérant Kisangani, Jadot le Cambodgien, Bipoli & solist Julva. It disbanded in 1978. It didn’t had any relation with Lutchiana Mobulu, who just used to be simple dancer along with Petit Makambo in the 80s of Viva. Lutchiana just did that to get attention, just the way he claimed to be the original founder of Zaïko when he came to Angola and when he used Luciana Demingongo’s name on his first solo album to launch his career.

I could see why his second name is Mobulu sounds like a trouble  ;D ;D But I never knew he was a dancer in Viva La Musica. I wonder how Nyoka Longo felt when he said he was the founder of Zaïko?

Damn he really tried to commit suicide ? I guess Europe was very important for them before even now it may be worse because of the concert ban.

People must be surprised back then that Koffi didn't bring Babia on European tour (is it true that he was doubting about bringing him because of his 1994 arrest ?)

It's really sad that Koffi lost the files of the Ultimatum version he recorded with Suzuki,Babia,Willy Bula,Eric Tutsi,Sam Tshintu & Modogo in Kenya in 1996 (before Bouro's came in Quartier Latin right ? ) were people dissapointed to not hearing them all in the album ?

Despite having the song Shambouyi in Magie was Sam Tshintu really known before Ultimatum ? Because he didn't have a chance to do a vocal.

Yeah, he really tried to commit suicide. Back in those days you could get alot of money and clothes from people when you arrived in Europe plus back in those days you hadn't replica's of expanisve clothes in Kinshasa, coming from China, Turkey, Dubai and Maroc, everything was coming directly from Italy,Paris, London and Switserland. If someone came from back from Europe it was always a big event in Kinshasa even if it was a dancer. That's why alot of musicians and dancers would go to sorceers, in the hope to see their name of the list.

Yes, people were surprised for not seeing Babia on the list. Because she was then the biggest star of the band. It's not true that Koffi was doubting because of his arrest, otherwise he wouldn't thiking about to bring him for the Loi-recordings (which didn't happen) and the Olympia-tour. Koffi wanted to punish him for the way the started to become undisciplined (started to become late during rehearshals and using drugs), he was already punished by not getting a song in Ultimatum.

People didn't even know that there was a version of Willy, Babia, Eric Tutsi and co of Ultimatum. They were already used of the new squad (Bouro-Suzuki-Modogo-Tshintu), having already seen them in the 40eme Anniversaire VHS and they spent already 4 months or something like that in Europe before that Ultimatum came out. Suzuki was already known, because of singing in the previous albums V12, Magie, Noblesse Oblige and Pas de Faux de Pas. The same for Modogo who sung in V12 and Magie and who came in France in 1995.

Sam Tshintu started to get known because of the way he appeared in the V12-videoclips (Bambino) and the 40eme anniversaire-videotape. But he wasn't famous then like Babia Ndonga, Willy Bula, Modogo and Eric Tutsi who already went to Europe and had multiple vocals on their name.

It's strange that Sam didn't get the opportunity to sing a vocal in Magie while having a song. Was that because the songs were prepared and he it was already decided who would put vocals before he came ?

People (myself include) used to think Aladji's vocals were his I don't where it comes from.

Aladji only did one vocal on that album. I found this interview about Sam was talking about "Magie" era.
