1 i believe blaise was not bothered since he still was administrator its like for example tata and masela letting christian mabanga being chef d'orchestre
2 I honestly still do not know but it went hardcore with a lot of reference to the past how they started and so on
3 yes makaba knew simon from his collaboration with zaiko and he dragged him to wenge and pentagone was a "test" and since he worked out jb accepted working with him
yes about the zenith contract its partly true makaba had a lot of contacts so initial proposal from zenith came through him and so was a proposal of bercy at that time

Wow did they have a contract for Bercy? The zenith-contract was there already since the Feux de l'Amour days. Alain Mpela and Mr Simon are there giving references about it in that Bataclan-tape. I remember that during the TH-studio sessions JB's-staff and musicians where talking about a concert at Stade de France in 2001, but it never came.

Makaba is another loud mouth has been who hogs the limelight by revealing locker room secrets, instead of his talent. He should have dealt with his problems while in the group instead of going on national tv to mourn about it. JB & Werra do not owe him anything......if he was a natural leader  and not simply a talented guitarist, he would have started his own band.

You clearly do not know the history of Wenge BCBG 4X4 and the role Makaba played in it.

Leadership comes in very many varieties. Ask all those group members of the original Wenge 4X4 who they consider  a leader and why. You will be surprised by the answers you will get.

Makaba played critical roles in the Wnege, in arrangement, creativity, financials and other aspects that leaders do and just because he did not take a faction and create his own group does not  make him any less of a leader.

Even now he is showing leadership by developing a studio where upcoming musicians can get the best sound equipment in Kinshasha and compete on quality productions.

Another thing, he has every right to talk about the Group he founded jsut like very other member has.

Given the behaviours of those who you tout as leaders, I think then it is much better that he is not a leader of a group.

As to Makaba's Talents, well there is no need to go there. Lets jsut say He does not have to prove anything.

History
1979 in Kinshasa ( DRC ), in the municipality of Bandalungwa (commonly known Bandal), a group of friends still college students, gathered around Didier Masela Ndudi (bass), Aimé Bwanga (bass, vocals), Noel Ngiama Makanda tells Werrason (singer, percussion, guitar), Machiro Kifaya (singer), Papy Sanji, Kija-Brown Mikondo and Jean-Belis Luvutula builds a neighborhood orchestra called Célio Stars by Aimé Bwanga. This primarily confidential set plays mainly during school holidays allowing members to brave the boredom of long summer periods. Numerous arrivals begin to inflate the workforce through school friendships. This is how Alain-Luc Mwanga (guitar), Dede Masolo (vocals) and Alain Makaba (guitar, percussion then keyboard) come to classmates Didier Masela, Christian Zitu (guitar) or the singers Welcome Wes Koka and Anicet Pandu.
In July 1981, Celio Stars renamed Wenge Musica by Jean-Belis Luvutula. This name, in addition to the reference to black wood product in Central Africa , is chosen by analogy with a local football team Wenge Football Club, in which Jean-changing Belis, who is sporting attraction Dimamboma district Wenge Musica will The musical attraction. The epithet "Musica" is also a tribute to musical idols youth Wenge, Papa Wemba and Kester Emeneya at that time, each leader and lead singer of the band Viva la Musica .
Around 1983, two new arrivals will bring new life to the young orchestra: Blaise Bula (vocals) and JB Mpiana (singing) the two last students at the Athénée de la Gombe. JB Mpiana is presented to the orchestra by Jean-Belis. During a rehearsal, Wenge Musica tries to interpret the song Ngambelo Kester Emeneya but none of the members managed to sing the tenor voice of the Little Prince. JB MPIANA present in the crowd moved and seduced [not neutral] immediately Zing-Zong was looking for a singer capable of singing with the tenor range. JB MPIANA will emerge gradually as the lead singer of the group, It is he who will bring the nickname BCBG ( Bon Chic Bon Genre ), in fact the young Wenge Musica have always claimed to be a youth orchestra with a school good education, unlike many groups with Kinshasa "street musicians"  .
Wenge Musica therefore includes in the early years, singers Werrason Ngiama (also host dance party), JB MPIANA , Machiro Kifaya, Dede Masolo "Deno Star", Blaise Bula Monga "Cielebu" Anicet Pandu "Anibo" Wes Koka. Adolphe Dominguez is the dancer start, it is often also seen appear alongside Defao, star of the orchestra Choc Stars . The instrumental part is provided by Aimé Bwanga (bass), Alain Mwanga "Zing-Zong" (solo guitar), Alain Makaba (guitarist, bassist and keyboardist), Christian Zitu (rhythm guitar), or Evo Nsiona, drummer, Ladins Montana (brother of Werrason) and Maradona Lotomba (both drummeurs). Like professional orchestras, Wenge Musica appoints a president, in the person of Jean-Belis Luvutula. He was replaced by Vieux Mavo around 1982, and then the young and charismatic JB Mpiana, who provided lead vocals, was nominated by his colleagues as president of the orchestra, a position he held until 1997.
Until the years 1985-1986, the group is only a leisure pastime for musicians all students then. The back and forth are legion, and very few members hope to make music a real livelihood. In 1986, the growing rise of Wenge Musica reputation allows him to play in up to artists curtains and renowned orchestras Zaire at the time such as Choc Stars (Defao will be of great material assistance including having taken Adolphe Dominguez under his wing) or Langa Langa Stars . Young musicians come for the first time in Brazzaville studio to record some of their creations whose Kin é Bougé (version 1) of JB MPIANA Baby Ake na ye Zing-Zong, Laura [ref. insufficient] Blaise Bula, Silvie Aimé Bwanga or Ginette Werrason without this leading to an album.
The backbone of the orchestra evolved with the departure of some of the original members such as Anicet Pandu (Anibo Charme), Wes Koka, Christian Zitu, Alain Mwanga "Zing-Zong" or Aimé Bwanga, to continue their studies in France and in Belgium. Dede Masolo "Deno Star", meanwhile becomes Christian music. That's when Adolphe Dominguez is fully inducted [not neutral] as a singer. At the same time, new arrivals are subject to testing and new faces appear, guitarist Djolina Mandudila then, in late 1986, singers Ricoco Bulambemba (the rival orchestra "It was kaka") and Alain Mpélasi. For anecdote the recruitment of the latter was made in November 1986 at a chance meeting with Werrason in Kinshasa  . The young man of fifteen at the time and living in Matete , was on holiday in Bandal . One afternoon, while he hummed a song by Victoria Eleison of Kester Emeneya , the street bordering the house of his aunt, Werrason visiting nearby, crosses and interested in what he hears, approached. He
then convinces her to follow him to the headquarters of Wenge Musica and present it to staff who accept immediately her young voice [contested relevance] . You have to know [style to see] that Victoria Eleison is a reference in the rhythm and sound of Wenge Musica, which was largely inspired by it.
In 1987, Wenge Musica plays for the first time in a televised concert at Studio Mom Angebi Kinshasa  . After this production will be taken photographic clichés that serve to illustrate the cover of the first album, Move-Move. Young musicians increase their popularity among young fans and new sounds. Through self-denial [not neutral] Alain Makaba, JB MPIANA and Werrason, the group is growing. The soloist, who is becoming more and more like the brain artistic group [ref. Desired] has indeed more entries from the producers through his collaborations with Zaiko Langa Langa for whom he played synthesizer in albums between 1987 and 1990 (including Longindo are Kassapard JP Buse [ref insufficient.] and Feelings Bimi Bimi Ombale of  ). It also takes advantage of modern studios Bonbongo Kinshasa to work with the best Zairian artists of the time. It is he who will print the musical character of the group, a dynamic mix of style, powerful and melodious [ref. required] . At his side, and JB MPIANA Werrason shape [not neutral] singing and entertainment.

In addition, in 1987, a new singer was added to the Wenge attack, Marie-Paul Kambulu and mid-soloist Blaise Kombo (student at ISC Gombe, Higher Institute of Commerce of Kinshasa) and a second Drumer, Pipo la Musica, replacing Ladins Montana who, having been unable to convert to singing, left the orchestra. At the end of 1987, the young tenor Manda Chante also made his appearance.
It is in this growing popularity they register Move-Move, their first album.
Early success
In 1988, appears in the Next Music label, Move-Move, album recorded in Brazzaville, which Mulolo which means "clamor", "new" is the featured song. This is a first success for the group [ref. Required] . It is also one of the first quarrels of the orchestra, due to the paternity of the song quoted above, JB Mpiana and Werrason dispute it. In fact, the structure of the song is by JB Mpiana who dedicated it to his girlfriend Anne-Marie. Werrason having added the refrain from a popular song of Mbala tradition of the region Bandundu . Zaire at the time, Mulolo elected song of the year and Wenge Musica musical revelation. In addition, the album includes Nicky D Werrason, The King Girl and Bakolo Budget JB MPIANA, Dodo Rose Didier Massela and Fisol, the theme song of Alain Makaba
Out of the pale-langa langa clan from which the Zaïko of Nyoka Longo , Viva La Musica of Papa Wemba and Victoria Eleison of King Kester Emeneya , Wenge Musica harvest a promising success [style to review] . At the release of the album, the observers are surprised Kinoise press [ref. Required] by the musical stamp Wenge Musica is clearly inspired by the rhythm of the King Kester Emeneya . Werrason is especially identified with the leader of Victoria Eleison thanks to its low voice, he also nicknamed "emeritus" as his idol. In addition, the album Move-Move is performed and arranged with electronic sounds like the album Nzinzi  remix totally arranged by computer and drum machine. The Group thus becomes the model of a new generation cultivating BCBG and undermines  .
At that time, the definitive "administrative" backbone of the group was fixed: JB Mpiana, president of the orchestra, Didier Masela, founding administrator, Werrason, chief financial officer and Alain Makaba, artistic director. They are surrounded by friends and patrons such as Mukubwa Adam Mbuta Kis Kisolokele Old Pepe, Fortis Navuangi (immortalized in the song Kolo Budget) or Grandpa Kimbi "persona grata".
Musically, the "team guy" phase concert is: JB MPIANA, Werrason, Blaise Bula and Ricoco (for the attack singing Ricoco replacing Adolphe Dominguez then living in Europe), Alain Makaba, Djolina, Blaise Kombo (on guitars), Didier Masela on bass, Maradona on drums and Don Pierrot on drum. Note that Werrason abandoned the animation atalaku (moderator) Full King and the new Roberto Wunda Ekokota and Kenndy Mbala both arriving Bana Odeon (Congolese folk group giving among large atalaku Congolese as Nono and Monzuluku Bebe Atalaku Zaïko, Ditutala of Choc Stars ). New guitarists, Delo Bass bass, mid-soloist, Collégien, and soloist, Alain Mwepu are incorporated in the same period. Their titles like Djino or Dady Bitodi animate theaters and night Kinshasa boxes [ ref. required] .
First defections
First trip to Europe
1989 with the growing recognition of mellomanes [not neutral] , their first trip to Europe is programmed by Kibonge Kokar and producers. It is especially in Brussels via Paris as Wenge Musica musicians must land. With false papers, they are separated in order to successfully pass through customs checks [ref. Required] . The game consists of Ricoco Bulabemba, the drummer Pipo, considered as "subordinate" of the group, they have to play the "scouts" with falsified visas and come smoothly to enter French territory. Leaders, JB MPIANA, Masela, Werrason, Makaba, Blaise Bula will not have the same success ... the trick is detected from the airport of Kinshasa-Ndjili and young men after a few days of custody are to compel Cancel their trip temporarily. This event will inspire, in addition, the new version of Kin e Bouger.
Ricoco nevertheless thinks that the group will be able to make its first European concerts when the administrative worries are settled. In the meantime, he is joined by Zing-Zong and Aimé Bwanga (already settled in Paris) to continue to rehearse and play music. They then find other young people such as Ya Yuyu, Molopwe Summer Juice, Boss Matuta, former bass player of Viva la Musica and other Caesar, a young singer. Adolphe Dominguez (who had left Kinshasa at the end of 1988 to settle in Europe) joins them, for the first rehearsals, without it being thought then, whether it is a new group.
In Kinshasa, Wenge Musica organizes itself. But a new drama shakes the orchestra, the death of guitarist Blaise Kombo. July 1990 a concert was given to the city Nsele the evening of this benefit, the midsoloist dies in a traffic accident. A thick mystery maintenance this tragic accident, especially on the will of headliners of the orchestra to sacrifice one of them to establish their success in becoming [ref. required] . Occult practices of this type, kisi, are common in the Congolese music scene  . The young Patient Kusangila, arriving from Sam Tshintu's Flash Musica, takes his place on the rhythm guitar. Some time after this dramatic event, Maradona (now wary JB MPIANA and Werrason) and Delo Bass leave to turn the group and flew to Paris, where they met former colleagues, Ricoco, Zing-Zong and Aimé Bwanga. It is Titina Mbwinga called "Al Capone" who will now play chopsticks, replacing Maradona.
Birth of Wenge Musica Aile Paris
Finally in late 1990, JB MPIANA, Werrason, Alain Makaba, Didier Masela, Blaise Bula, Ekokota Roberto, Marie-Paul (who took the place of Ricoco) Collégien Zola and Titina, the new drummer, landing in Brussels. Full King, Manda Chante and Alain Mpelasi (who then passed his State Diploma) are not of the trip. The group is reinforced by Adolphe Dominguez and then by Ricoco, but the latter who acquired a certain notoriety in Paris, is finally dismissed and is no longer allowed to prester with his colleagues, despite the intervention of Marie Paul in his favor.
In Brussels, Wenge Musica records the album Kin é Bougé delivering some concerts. When returning to Kinshasa, Adolphe Dominguez is from the delegation, Alain Makaba decides to stay some time in Europe to continue his Jazz studies. On the other hand, Marie-Paul, although brilliant in the choruses of Kin é Bougé, feels cramped and uncomfortable notably because of the sidelining of Ricoco. He decides not to return to Kinshasa and find his friends left in the French capital.
It is from the departure of the latter that Wenge Musica "Aile Paris" will really take place and give rise to a real hatred between those who stayed in Paris and the others returned to Kin la Belle.
In Paris, Marie-Paul notes that Ricoco, Zing-Zong and Aimé Bwanga have already conducted a recruitment with Caesar, Ya Yuyu, summer Juice, Boss Matuta and Rento Vena, his childhood friend. Other young boys will come some time after this is Savitset Depitshou, José Kike, 3615 Niawu code. Atalaku Kennedy Mbala "na ba Mputu" joined Aile Paris during the European tour he performed with Swede-Swede in 1990, a traditional orchestra that he had integrated after leaving Wenge Musica. Wenge Musica Aile Paris takes place under the patronage of Francis Kalombo, acting as manager. Many Zairian stars of the time, such as Lidjo Kwempa, Papa Wemba and Kester Emeneya, gave a little help to Aile Paris by giving them a few songs. Joly Mubiala (the young brother of Kester Emeneya) and Djudju Ché (former drummer of Victoria Eleison) even taking part in the first recordings of the group.
Among the first songs for an album, there are Molangi Malasi. Ricoco a song, written while he prestait in the orchestra He Was Kaka. When he joined Wenge Musica, he shared his vocals with Werrason, JB and Blaise Bula. Wenge Musica Aile Paris shot out two blow very good albums Molangi are Malasi (in 1991) and Nganga Nzambe (in 1992), whose song Loyalty one way, is an unmasked attack against the band JB MPIANA "loyalty I have given them was one-way, they took advantage of the benevolence of my heart [...] the people of the world are evil " [ref. insufficient] . It does not lack respond by releasing a new remix of Kin é Bougé called The world is wicked when he criticizes the attitude of Marie Paul "those we have shown to the world, were exiled [...] take Wenge name our child to be recognized in life " [ref. insufficient] . This is the first great rivalry of this new generation. Alain Mpelasi did not fail to recall that Marie-Paul owed his participation in the trip to Brussels only because of his absence due to university examinations. Moreover, it would be the author of a song that Marie-Paul would subtilized him Gainsi Alino .

Meanwhile in Kinshasa, Wenge Musica "wing Kinshasa" has released his new album, now a classic of the group, Kin é Bougé (https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c? depth=1&hl=en&prev=search&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=fr&u=http://www.afrisson.com/Kin-eBouge-6539.html%3Fvar_recherche%3Dwenge%2520musica&usg=ALkJrhifD56i5hVR0bpzdCtVYAj
hqkqhw) . Recorded in Brussels before the defection of Marie Paul, it enjoys a quality sound much superior to the previous album with major modifications: a faster tempo and jerky and an acoustic snare drum in preference to electronic drums. This album is Wenge Musica, the best band in Zaire in 1991. It consists of 5 titles Kin é Bougé (JB MPIANA), Maguy Ngoma (Robert Wunda), Princess Pathy (Alain Makaba) Kaskin (Werrason) and Eve Sukali (Blaise Bula). This new album has great originality, the proto-generic Ngoma Maguy, the work of the atalaku Roberto Wunda Ekokota. This augurs a new practice initiated by Pepe Kalle and Zaiko Langa Langa in the mid 1980s (including the album Banzai Nippon  ), a reduction of the singing part to focus on the sebene and animations, The dancing part. On returning from the European tour, Kino music lovers discover two new musicians recruited to fill the temporary vacuum left by Makaba. This is Ficarre Mwamba, guitarist, orchestra defector Litonge Bouge and Desire Kalala keyboardist arriving from Kinshasa French Cultural Centre where he played with a band called Exodus. These two new arrivals will be an important contribution to the sound of Wenge Musica specifically in the two new albums that Wenge recorded in 1992 and 1993.
The first, called the Spotlight is enrgistré in 1992, during another trip to Brussels. During this tour, Wenge Musica Alain Makaba found and placed on record its songs already played in the late 1980s This is Djino (Werrason), Dady Bitodi (Djolina Mandudila) Fisol (2nd version, Alain Makaba) and unpublished Tchatcho Mbala Werrason, Hail Mary Blaise Bula and Nazareth JB MPIANA. This album is different from the previous one where the paw of Makaba (whose nickname, "Computer 48 memories", acquired since the 1980s, is evocative) is always felt in the choice of new sounds, electronic instruments still have the , Specifically, the synthesizer (with the new keyboardist Désiré Kalala) and the drums. This album reveals the young Manda Chante through compositions JB MPIANA and Werrason offering him the opportunity to shine. However, Spotlight will see the day in 1996 partly due to a falling out with the producer. During this Belgian trip, book a Wenge Musica concert hall in Brussels of the Madeleine, which is one of his best lives  .
Now accustomed benefits in Europe, the band rubs at a concert in Paris in 1993 at the legendary Zaiko Langa Langa  . In this production, Wenge Musica collaborates for the first time with non-Congolese artists, talented musicians from Kassav , which are themselves already accustomed Afro-Caribbean women intercultural experiences (Kassav in Kinshasa  , Shock Stars  ). The album Kala Yi Boeing is registered, still in Brussels in 1993. Punctuated by dance Liwanza Boma, it confirms the hopes placed in these young artists, with success [ref. Required] as Cresois song of the founder Didier Masela, danico, Chouchou London, Travel, It's too late ... The composition Djenga Werrason Kalayi Boeing [ref. insufficient] harvest some success thanks to its strong folk dimension and brilliant orchestration including guitarist Ficarré Mwamba is a great craftsman [not neutral] .
Despite a remarkable vocal solo this song, Kalayi Boeing, Manda Chante left turn to join the group Wenge Wing Paris. The shadow of JB Mpiana hangs over this departure, the two men not appreciating specially. Manda Chante also criticizes his former colleagues for not supporting him during his serious illness during 1993, but remains evasive in interviews retracing his journey.
To replace his sharp voice, several tenor singers are tested including Aimélia Lias and Yombo Lumbu told Tutu Caludji. Finally, only the first will be the winner, with an attitude less inclined to interfere JB MPIANA . He won easily in particular during the first concert of Wenge Musica at the Bataclan in Paris in 1994 [ref. insufficient] . Tutu Caludji for its part is preserved as an animator on idea Werrason in effect since 1993 and the departure of King Full Wenge wing to Paris, Ekokota is the sole repository of animation. By supporting him, Tutu Caludji will be an important element in the success of the albums to
,
come, thanks to a style of animation much more singing than its congeners. Meanwhile, Burkina Faso Mboka Liya, the former guitarist of Choc Stars and Big Stars , is incorporated in the team. Besides the departure of Manda Chante, this year 1993 is marked by the defection of Désiré Kalala and Don Pierrot Monda, dissatisfied with the remuneration at the end of the European tour. Desired Kalala then settled in Switzerland, where he converted to Christian music. You should know [style to see] that the salary management is the cause of many disputes within the band, especially between Makaba, and Didier Werrason Masela. The former often threatened to leave the group if the reparations were not distributed better. In 1993, after tense negotiations with Didier Masela and payment of his salary, he returned to Kinshasa with the rest of the musicians.
In 1994 appeared the double album 's Adorable Angels , punctuated by songs like Hi Ho Ha, Tina Tuna Jack Smiles sellers, Desert Storm, Life [ref. insufficient] or Surprise Kapangala in line with Kalayi Boeing. Nevertheless, in 1994, Wenge Musica, the aggression of Blaise Bula, beaten by a soldier Zaïrois, the new husband of Monique Kalala, his ex-companion. He loses a few teeth during this event and misses a concert at the Grand Hotel of Kinshasa. In it, JB MPIANA and Alain Mpelasi denounce this act in the song Desert Storm (Dedicated to Kongolo Mobutu, son of the marshal and military ...) throwing Lélo including Blaise Bula na Mbeto are lopitalo, MPO is basi mokili bozali mabe (Today Blaise Bula is hospitalized, because women of this world are bad) [ref. insufficient] .
A new event, but lighter marking for the rest of the orchestra performs in 1995 with the release of Heads or Tails solo album of Alain Makaba . The latter will give rise to new wills of emancipation of the heads of posters JB Mpiana and Werrason, also wishing to realize opus solos. The situation of Alain Makaba however special because the soloist and multi-instrumentalist is a hybrid of the group. During the great years of Wenge Musica, he continued to study jazz and musicology, which led him to many European trips and stays, leaving his colleagues to work without him. In 1992, after a break of several months, he returned to the team before the registration of Kalayi Boeing, which gives the possibility to Ficarré to express brilliantly. This will occur later in 1995, when he composed his solo album, Burkina Faso Mboka Liya becoming the holder soloist. On his return in 1996 to finalize the Pentagon and the Lights of Love, the defector Station Japan [ref. insufficient] , Maladji Japanese occupied the stage with some success and will be central to the success of Ndombolo generic.

You clearly do not know the history of Wenge BCBG 4X4 and the role Makaba played in it.
I almost spilled my coffee laughing at your statement above.......do you think a cut and paste job on this forum will school me about the history of the Wenges...... let alone, of the Congolese music? Not impressed at all, try harder. .........You ought to be having a laugh mate.

if i understand werra's point well makaba he would have preferred makaba to prove his worth as a band leader  in the days of "world war 2" so now he thinks alain is being bitter because jb and werra  went light years above him,but i think its that the case, makaba explained he needed a break after wenge split and his controversial departure from bcbg  so he spent most of his time doing session work and his own album 12 years ago now and now he went back to kin to become a producer and arranger

@Archos,

That is just my point, Alain Makaba does not have to do anything to prove to anyone.
His talents and achievements speak for themselves.
