They were making fun of Koffi's new nickname of that time "mokonzi" which means boss in Lingala, but christian people sometimes use it to name god. Nzambé is god in Lingala.

In this video Bouro Mpela calls "Nzambé" (Koffi) to look solutions for Academia and Sam comes to say that he has to stop with that foolishness, then Mboshi appears (he acts like he's Koffi) then saying proudly that he's new name is "nzambé"/"mokonzi" and not "Bula Ntulu" anymore, Sam refusing by saying that he never changed with his bad behaviour, rudeness and reigned with songs that do not belong to him and mboshi reaction with Koffi's famous "ooh-reaction". Bouro, Lebou and Sam all refusing Koffi's nickame. Sam adding that he's surpised with Koffi, asking if Koffi's is bigger than God, what bible verse he wrote, what kind of "mokonzi he is" and that he has to stop because he had succes with songs who weren't written by him.

Dont y'all think that Koffi is going to far by calling himself god ?

If it was 15/20 years ago it would have been a scandal. Remember how it created a scandal when Koffi named himself Benoit XVI (Benedict XVI) in 2005, late Benedict XVI became the new pope that year and the catholic community was furious about Koffi's decision making multiple tv-appearances to warn and attack Koffi. Koffi ended up by not using Benoit XVI as his nickname anymore because of the anger it created among the catholic community in Africa.

There was something similar with Emeneya back in the 80s. But the difference was that it was the public that started to him Jesus, due to Victoria Eleison being called "les 12 apotres" (the 12 apostles) them having 13 members when starting the band and the public giving Emeneya the nickname Jesus, because of having alot of beard during their first tv-appearence after his departure from Viva la Musica. Priests came to tv to attack Emeneya for that, but people kept calling him Jesus and big crowds following him every time he came outside.

This is the same man who called himself Mopao Sarkozy at one point, so I'm kind of unfazed. That said, Africans are probably the most religious people you'll know and Congolese people are no exception. Chances are that some of the religious leaders and pastors will have something to say about that. As you said, it worked before so it might work again.

You just reminded me of the time he called himself Vieux Ebola; he's got so much audacity lol. What a dark time that was.

I don't what Koffi had during the period of Danger de Mort. But back then he often asking contreversial questions and jokes about God and Jesus. During an interview with Baby Balukuna, he said that when Jesus would arrive in Kintambo. He would run away because of seeing that many shegues and making the comment that Jesus never shaves his beard and Bin Laden following that style because of that. Its just that christians are soft, because if it was with other religious he would probably get serious problems.

About Koffi's show at U-Arena. He will unfortunately not be the be first African artist anymore to perform there like he used to wish. Because Burna Boy will perform there in May.

Ba Combattans are really blocking the progress of our music. Our artists would have achieved way more if there wasn't a concert. Maybe that both Koffi Olomidé and Fally Ipupa would already have performed at Stade de France.
