It's because Scola Miel left and Babia was in prison otherwise they would it record with 5 singers. They recorded it in Paris when they came there to tour in Europe to promote Noblesse Oblige and mixing Magie which was recorded in Brazzaville.

The 94 European tour and the recording sessions of Magie confuse me so Modogo, Sam Tshintu and Coco Tchomba were in Brazzaville during the recording sessions of Magie while Koffi, Scola, Willy, Suzuki and Babia were in Europe.

Koffi Olomide & Quartier Latin recorded Magie a long time ago before going to Europe. They recorded it during the spring of 1994. Then somewhere in August he went with for singers like he used to do to Europe and those instrumentists. They went also to Canada and the US, but Sckola had then already left the band.

It always had been for Koffi from 1992 until 2004. Touring whole Africa every year, concerts in Europe and Kinshasa, recordings albums every year sometimes 2 in a year. I think that the most bussiest year was 1997.

My favourite Quartier Latin album. That album was a massive success everywhere. For me Koffi & Quartier Latin relly step their game up with Magie (with electrical guitar, Beevans animation it was a good decision to let him animate alone Mazungidi would not in the sebenes of Magie).                       It's crazy that Koffi didn't let Sam have a vocal in that album while he let him put his song "Shambouyi".
What was your reaction the first time you guys heard that album ?
Did the videos filmed in nightclubs were in France or in USA ?

What's the story behind Didace Le Prof (guitarist) and Aladji (singer)? They disappeared just as quickly as they were introduced in the group.

Did Manzugidi Jean-Louis participate in this album? I don't hear his animations at all, maybe just the generique. May he rest in peace, I had no idea he recently passed away.

To answer your question, our friend Matebu explains that Sam had some academic commitments that kept him from participating on the Magie, but his creative contributions were reworked by the group and included into the album out of the high esteem Koffi had towards Sam.

The audio mixing for Magie was done in Brazzaville, the studio there were not as advanced as those in Europe. So the production wasn't as crisp as the previous album.

The album was recorded in Brazzaville and the mixing done in Paris with Philippe Guez adding some keyboard-parts and Beevans, Babia, Suzuki, Koffi and correcting some vocals and adding mabanga from people of London, Paris, Switserland and Belgium who received them well during the tour of 1994

Manzuigidi had only 1 crie magie, which was in the start of the song of Magie. That ah yo yo yo-crie
