Ah yes. The amazingly short-lived QL spinoff group, Quartier Latin AGB.

@mvulusi96

Have you heard this song, mvulusi96? It's from Quartier Latin AGB? I know you guys give Savanet Depitcho such a hard time for his voice, but at least he did his best with the space he had on Droit de Veto and Attentat.

Can you admit that JF Ifonge sucks? No melody in his voice, just flat and whiny! Just observe at 2:17 to 2:27 and again at 4:44 at the video below kiekiekie  ;D

Loool how did he make it to the studio and who was soo convinced to let him sing. JF Ifonge should be given a medal of courageous.

Personally i dont think depitcho is a bad singer. He have his « niche » (or debaba’s niche lol) but his vocals on ddv & attentat and on el paris suff are pretty cool, its just not « ordinary ».
But jf is a faux chanteur

exactly depitcho can sing sometimes he just ruined his own voice trying too hard to sound sophisticated even jf his original voice is way better than what he used to sing I have seen him in concerts of modogo gianfranco ferre back then and he was kinda singing like marie paul ,the worst of them is clearly cesar loboko i suggest you to listen to cesar's feat with jordan

It isn’t from AGB. It is from JF Ifonge’s first album Demolition. JF was just playbacking on it like Depitsho was playbacking on Shopping and Cesar Loboko on his own song. The three clips were all on that VHS of “ Naissance de AGB Quartier Latin”. They made that video the same month when they left. They never got the chance to record a album together. Btw the video you posted is in third part lol.

They gave Ondoma & Rocky Blanchard false hope, they started already musicians in Kinshasa and mobilizing people for AGB Quartier Latin. Both guys returned quickly to Quartier Latin when they released that it was just comedy. The only guy who had papers was JF Ifongé. So they couldn’t return to Kinshasa like they pretented. Depitsho would leave the group very soon after a conflict with JF Ifonge about a girl and then trying to return to Quartier Latin which didn’t happen, before recording his solo album “Projecteur”.

Did they ever gave a concert by themselves. Because I only remember them performing at a festival in Stade Charletty in the summer of 2000. With the concert-promoter inviting King Kester Emeneya, Papa Wemba, Général Defao, Gina Efonge, Evoloko Lay & Bozi Boziana. It was a big event, but I never saw the VHS. Only a little article on Martin Sinnock’s website.

I have a better example from Cesar Loboko. Listen to those high notes lol.

I guess I can say that AGB weren't exactly the most talented singers of their generation. At least Depitcho made me laugh when I was young  ;D.

yeah the group was more built around their looks and attracting women, it was not like an academia or a les marquis who were letting their talents fully blossom when they were limited in previous groups,proof is the group collapsed quicker before they had no vision whatsoever just continuing to kinda do music and be playboys

JF Ifonge killed me in this video from 2:45 min,22:45min, 26:52 min and 27:30 min. He was always funny when he attacked musicians. I hope that I will see the video he made with Thierry Pinzi one day, when he attacked Nyoka Longo.

Hahahaa Depitcho from 38:20 min
