Wemba was arrested for the ngulu-affaire, spent 3 months jail, because of not being able to bail himself out until that Joseph Kabila paid. Papa Wemba wasn't autorized to return to Kinshasa, because his case wasn't finish. Nouvelle Ecriture had financial difficulties, because their leader wasn't there, sponsors refused to support them and donors weren't trusting them. The musicians themselves started also to get problems because they spent already 1 year in Kinshasa (musicians lives with tours outside Congo and mostly when they are in Europe). The summer saved them a little bit with those events, fancy fairs and Fikin, but when the summer finished the problems returned. The musicians thought that Wemba would return after the release of Somo Trop, but a few months after that the French police gave him to Belgium, where there was also a proces against him about the ngulu-affair. Papa Wemba and the policemen who brough him to the lawsuit almost died, when the vehicle made a big car-accident going two times upside-down. It was during those moment that musicians started to leave one by one and that then like Pathy said in this interview that Riva Kalimazi and his friend who had a company decided to contact Bralima for 6 open-air concerts, in order that guys like Tosha, Pathy, Costa Pinto, etc. could get some money, but Deo Sfr dying in the last concert in a car-accident after having performed in Maluku. After that the succes started slowly return with the new dance Banzokion and guys like Bendoson and co returning one by one and Wemba finallly being authorized to return after spending 18 months in Europe, performing 3 months with them before return to Europe again to wait for the verdict.
