I am in France in these days and I can finally understand why Congolese music despite the number of listeners it hasn't spread.

Reason number 1
Language
French people are basically very proud of their language and no matter if you are white black or arabian the only thing that matters in France is that you speak french and in fact the most listened artist are black french artist

Reason number 2
Only one Fally Ipupa and has failed to spread music Congolese like should have been.
Whit this I mean that all the guys of Congolese origin that had success are singing in French: Gradur, Niska, Maître Gims, Youssoupha.
And if you want to make Congolese music you have to make quality music and Boulman earlier and Fally Ipupa then has failed to do it national wide Boulmane because he is more French than Congolese and of course accent count and for Fally is that he had the chance with Kimame but he preferred choosing an Afrobeat/Decale/Western Africa type of beat instead of pushing the feat with Booba with a Ndombolo beat

Reason Number 3
Bad promotion and bad videos, for the promotion, it is crazy that Awilo Longomba, Extra Musica and Kanda Bongo Man are more known in Europe over Werra  and some other guys who really perform at high level on national side in Congo this is simply for the promotion, a lot of time Congolese musician fail to give proper promotion to their albums especially in Europe because this excuse of Poto is the cimitier of artist needs to stop, because I met a lot of people during this journey who likes a lot Congolese music but barely know that Werra  had a new album out barely know the existence of Je Ne Te Calcule Pas and so on. And for the videos the same there are good cameras who can make good videos but directors fails to make good videos the only guy that I have seen having good videos are Ferre with Poisson D'Avril and Fally especially with his new album and the thing that setback foreigner people (outside of Africa) to watch Congolese videos is the excessive use of various parts inside the clip you cannot focus on one guy like in Zenga Luketo where the scene were nice but there were too much staff.

about Awilo Longomba, Extra Musica and Kanda Bongo Man being more popular than Werrason in Africa and Europe is about management and the record label they had. Extra Musica is more populair than Wenge Musica 4x4 in Francophone Africa (Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinee, etc.), because they had a manager called Ferreol Gassackys who had a big network in those countries and made alot of promotion on diaspora radio's like Africa N1 & RFI. Awilo Longomba was lucky to have Jimmy Hoeutinu of Jimmy Production as manager, who made alot of stars. JF Ifonge's album Demolition of 1998, which was managed by Jimmy was a huge succes in countries like Benin and Togo also Cesar Loboko's Rendre a Cesar, who was managed by the same Jimmy Hoeutinu. Guys like Kanda Bongo Man, Aurlus Mabele, Lucthiana Mobulu & Alain Koukou made records by playing in sold out stadiums in Benin, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Tanzania. Till this day nobody broke Kanda Bongo Man's record, which me made in the football stadium of Nairobi in Kenya and that of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. Awilo is the only artist in the world who sold out the National Stadium in Lagos (Nigeria) and performing there 3 days in a row. Stars like 50 Cent, Koffi Olomide, P-Square tried to perform there but they never broke or fill the stadium.

Another thing which made Soukous artists of Paris and Congolese artists based in Kinshasa of the '80s and '90s strong and having a big impact in Africa was that they were using the same animations (Kwassa Kwassa and Ndombolo for example). People are claiming that Koffi killed Congolese Music, because of Monde Arabe and rumba, blablabla. But if there is some to blame then it Werrason. Because he came with ideology that nobody could use the animation of another and Bill Clinton with that thing about photocopies. While they could continue the solidarity Congolese artists had first. The Koyimbi-Ko dance had a huge impact in Africa, but nobody used the animation. Imagine if Koffi Olomide used the animation in Affaire d'Etat, Papa Wemba in Somo Trop and King Kester in Nouvel Ordre than it would maybe surpass the impact which the Ndombolo-animation had. With Bill Clinton accepting his copycats Kerozene, Biscuit des Ecoliers and Gessac, but no he had to humilate them in his song Style Moomberg. While Tutu Calugi was accepting Theo Mbala, Mboshi Lipassa, Gentamincine, Bizima Kondos, CNN, Celeo Scram, the young Bill Clinton Kalonji, Papy Cocaine, Bidjana, etc. despite everything and calling it "Ecole des Calugiste" with people seeing them automaticly as copycats, while some of them were in the same band with him before joining Wenge 4x4. Because of that Coupe Decale stole the place of Congolese artists by all doing the same animation (Coupe Decale. allez Coupe, Coupe, Coupe) and Congolese artitst taunting each other about stealing "their" animation.

Wow Awilo really set the level high for Congolese Music and the African one.
Ban'oyo ba'o tambola na photocopie ya Mukanda na ngai, Papa na nga azo mona bino nani ango atindaka bino (All these kids walking around with my ID's photocopy my dad is watching you, who the hell send you to do that)
Yes Bill didn't really like photocopies and he said that even when he went solo in Balle Perdue being explicit at Brigade and especially to Kero by going straight to Koffi saying: " Mopao Mokonzi Koffi Olomide ye lokola amonaki azala yo atindi pe bana bazala nga?"
MM Koffi Olomide since he thought you were him (Clear reference to Werra) he told you to make those kids look like me?
Yes and now guys like Arafat are taking fame while most of African people outside of DRC do not even know that they are copycat very sad

Bill said " yo ntaba na masese eduquer bana na yo bakatisa frontiere te sinon nako s'en charger na yo"(you the guy with a beard like sheeps and your proverbs tell your children gesac not to mess with me or i will attack you) then (mopao mokonzi that guy wants to be like you and want his children to be like me) and  also calling wazekwa robocop because of the way he dances without too much of the waist  movement s  plus a couple more and wazekwa replied muana azofinga ntaba oyo bapesaki pona kobala mama naye
except with bercy bill always replied to the leader when a band member kind of attacked him like for example in bopikiliki where he says to werra you sent that toad (ligorodo) to insult me  alluding to prince d'angola
