In life, do not praise your self but the poeple. Ferre Gola is good but this thing of him taking up a self made-up promotion that he is the heir of Old Rhumba giants, is wrong. He does not understand his music so well. I do not hear any song in the likes of Adeito that he has coined so he is not the heir of Master Rochereau. Ferre has annoyed me for one thing, lack of instruments in his music which makes his voice go like a blank bullet and leave only fans like we, confused with why he is wasting all his nice voice!!

Let him go and listen to Muzhina, play a similar song and we will agree with him....

Well, for a singer like him he should be confident to praise himself that he's an excellent singer and true heir to Tabu Ley who too was known for his excellent vocals which were hair raising just like Ferre's. Yes Tabu Ley did a bit more of sebenes during his time but who else is doing more sebenes than Ferre today amongst his generation? Fally?

What do you mean lack of instruments in Ferre's music? Is it because he prefers acoustic arrangement that you feel he's not using many intruments?

Yes acoustic is not really good if all songs are full of it.....it makes all songs sound the same. The day people like makaba will arrange ferre's music, Sly, you will pick up a phone to have a chat with me...

Totally agree with you!! The song arrangements are monotonous.

I am not into Ferre or Fally that much as I am with Koffi, Werra and JB. The later knows how to use musicians in blending songs.

Deanglo, JB, yes you are correct but his weakness, he has no ear for good studio sound. Werrason, mopao know that trade better....

EMO I think you just dont find the acoustic style interesting compared to your type of Rhumba nut yet Ferre remains one of the Greatest and Monumental musicians in Congo and African Music as a whole. I would also want to point out my appreciation for the comments he had for Fally because it only takes a professional and a man with talent to praise and exalt another, knowing that stupid koffi started the rivalry btwn the two stars, still Ferre consider Fally as a Talented musician.

I think in music we also have to look at the character of a person naturally without the attachment of his talent.
I found Ferre, based on the above statement, very noble.

Fally and Ferre have similar music arrangements ie acoustic but guess what, they are the top musicians amongst of this generation 5th generation so it means there are people who really appreciate their styles, what is monotonous to you is not monotonous to the other.
Personally, I know the weaknesses of most of the top musicians we know, I have given examples of the kind of songs they are failing to add to their albums and also their generiques/sebenes are not properly arranged,if they can work on that their music should be perfect but so far they are doing well.

Correction, shaping Fally's career not Ferre's....Ferre's career was shaped way before he joined Koffi's band

The only way he helped Ferre and Fally is by making them enemies of each other and dividing fans and also he paid them a lot of money but artistically Ferre was already complete when he joined Koffi's band infact he was disrupted from starting his band earlier,he had already started recruiting musicians prior to joining Quartier Latin.

What I have said and will say it again is that Ferre Gola appeals to those who understand Lingala mostly and that is why he has a share of fans. If you do not understand what Ferre Gola is singing about, you will pull out the CD. I do understand a few of what these guys sing about but come on guys, this music should be for everyone and that is why JB, Koffi, Werrason, Zaiko are loved by all people not just one group. I have gone to rhumba die hard clubs in Lusaka, a few Congolese will stand for a dance when Ferre's song is on but after one or two songs, you hear people cry for a Fally song, why? Fally Ipupa is not monotonous like Ferre Gola. Fally's songs have curves here and there and he sometimes adds a soloist to the song therefore, adding a sebene.
