many songs from that era outside the songs of external writers were done in those groups, for example le vent du soir of kibuisa was already being sang by ferre baby and co in staff london,or vita imana,or many force de frappe songs and so on
Quote from: archos on October 04, 2022, 18:20yeah you know many of those groups had record albums which were never released, for example bill genta soleil and co did an album with la geneva but it never got released because their" producer" ran away and never paid the fees but then again there would be the eternal problem of those who are already established, they dont always welcome easily newcoming talents they'd either destroy them by "upgrading " them from those group to theirs or spiritually so it still would have been a relatively tough taskYeah. Because the original first 3th generation band Thu Zahina was killed by Verckys and Franco. Zaiko Langa Langa kept existing because of DV Moanda, otherwise we would maybe have seen Bozi and Nyoka Longo in OK Jazz hahahaha. Bands like Les Grand Maquisards of Ntesa Dalienst and Continental of Josky Kiambukuta were killed by Tabu Ley and Franco and the musicians ending up in their band. Wenge Musica was just lucky that Verckys went down (because of people switching from Vinyl to CD which made him lose of alot money since that he owned a Vinyl factory), their elders Papa Wemba and Emeneya being based in France, Franco passed away and Tabu Ley being in exil. This all gave them free space. Its crazy how artists that challenged Wenge 4x4's succes in 1990 felt after Kin E Bougé. They all received karma. Ben Nyamabo who blocked their first Europe-tour back in 1989 wasn't able to bring Choc Stars back to Europe, Verckys who tried through the late Belis Mfumu Luvutula to split Wenge became broke, King Kester Emeneya who attacking them in interviews and humilating them in fara-fara concerts ended up in exil in Europe and was finished, all their former rivals Eden Musica, Lavingnora Esthetique (first generation), La Geneva (first generation), Lokole Ensuite, etc. all dissapearedFunny to see how Zaiko Nkolo Mboka, Zaiko Familia Dei and Basilique Loningisa were immediatly after Kin E Bougé seen as "orchestre ya ba vieux", while Nyoka Longo and his friends hadn't reached their 40th year yet. But youngsters still dreaming to join Wenge Maison Mere after 2006 and Fally Ipupa still seen as leader ya ba jeunes.

Lol, Wazekwa pays his musicians but it isn't enough to live with it. It the same way like Nyoka Longo used to pay his musicians every month, but his musicians not even being able to pay their rent with it. If Wazekwa used to pay his musicians well, then his bodyguards, Joss Diena and co and bodyguards wouldn't go to Quartier Latin. It was one of the reasons why Papy Louange stayed in Europe, because he was fed up to live that way. Having fame but not progressing. When Bralima upgraded Wazekwa's salary, he didn't lift the money of his musicians while he was going financially forward. The only bandleader who used to pay his musicians well is Koffi Olomidé. The money is still not enough with the fame you get, but you and pay your rent with it and live. The bad side of it, is that if a president would invite them and pay him 400.000 dollars, your salary will remain $300 because you agreed verbally or through your contract with him that you want to be paid every month like that. Hearing that musicians of Quartier Latin are being paid just $300 sounds low. But in Kinshasa back in those days it was alot of money and even more what officials and teachers in Congo were earning.
The majority of them all released albums, but they are very rare and none of them is on youtube. There's only a video of Mbuta Muntu Radja Kula at Tele Zaire playbacking his song "Ba Maman ya Japon". Back then he had the original Station Japana before departing to Europe until the mid 90s
I haven't heard about Studio Bobongo since Koffi's Danger de Mort. The majority of the album was recorded there and at Studio Ndiaye. Studio Maman Ngebi still exists. But lost its popularity since the 2000s with multiple tv-channels coming and no tv-show being there to hype it up with concerts. They renovated a little bit in 2008 and from 2011 artists like Koffi Olomide, Nyoka Longo, Papa Wemba performing there for the national television for the show Bakolo Mindule, but the tv-hall never gained his mythic fame back. They often use Studio Maman Ngebi for talent shows. A few weeks ago they did those vodacom talent show there where Babia's Prince son lost and Clan Wenge fans being happy.
