What did was Koffi talking about at the 5 minute mark? Was he explaining Savanet Depitcho's departure from Quartier Latin?

Yes. He also confirms that jf ifonge wasn’t « really » a ql member, due to the « chorale ya makassi » that he couldn’t handle. In other terms, he can’t sing, lool.

lol, I started dying... he would've kept going too if Lolo didn't say his name  :D :D

Too bad the July 29th, 2001 Parc des Princes concert didn't happen. He had the momentum to sell out the venue too during that period

I laugh because Koffi wants to act that he is always the victim when many times that he is aggressor in some situations. If Koffi wants to insult people, then he should expect it back. I am not defending Wemba's decision to attack Koffi's late Didi Olomide but Koffi had attacked a family member of Papa Wemba. Either way, Papa Wemba and Koffi Olomide's relationship never recovered after Wake Up.

BTW who was behind the the failed Wake Up tour between Koffi Olomide and Papa Wemba. What was the point of this when it was years after Wake Up came.

Savanet would have been left behind for Effrakata if we're being completely honest, his vocal style is too melancholy for the glitzy production of Koffi's post-Academia releases.

Keep in mind, the recent recruits like Deo Brando and Jordan Kusa would of put pressure on Savanet to step his game up or get left behind in Kinshasa, because Mustapha couldn't manage to make it to Effrakata and he was actually GOOD at singing.

I think if mustapha didnt left ql for academia, he’d be in force de frappe & as well effrakata.

I'm not sure that depitcho would've been left behind for effrakata since he already had Europe papers and dude mustapha wasn't around during effrakata he left during the recording of force de frappe he was already in academia so I'm not sure what you're talking about

@CM PRINCE

On the basis of having papers, I agree with you that Savanet Depitcho would of had the opportunity to joined the others to record albums like Force De Frappe, but you could tell that real friction was forming between him and the others in Quartier Latin.

We both know that Bouro Mpela couldn't stand the guy, so as soon as Bouro rejoined the group then that would of been a wrap for Depitcho! Having Fally, Bouro, AND Savanet coexisting within the same group would be a very difficult ship to navigate; too strong personalities types in one group with all having something to prove!

Just curious, what songs do you think Savanet's vocals would be a good fit on Effrakata? His voice is very distinctive, I don't know if it would mesh well sonically with the production of that album.

I had no idea Mustapha participated in Force de Frappe! I'm assuming he only sang in group choruses, because I don't remember hearing his voice. Thanks for the information friend, I need to relisten to the album again. It makes sense, because he was present for those post-Bercy videos where they mocked Savanet lol

If you can remember, what songs did he sing on for Force de Frappe?

@Grandpretre

Mustapha would had a nice run with Quartier Latin, but apparently Gipson did some sabotage against him to unsettle Mustapha when Force de Frappe was being recorded. Which is explains Mustapha joining Academia in late 2000.

Depitsho didn’t have European papers. He had still a Congolese passport and was years blocked in Kinshasa with Wenge El Paris from ‘93 after having problems with Kongolo Mobutu. He finally came back to Europe at that the moment when Koffi went to perform at Olympia, seeing Paris back after 5 years.
