Title: KOFFI OLOMIDE- ASSASSAIN (New Song)
Post by: BercysFinest98 on March 30, 2020, 00:16
Koffi mentioned in one of his live streams that he was going to drop a song in response to the Coronavirus madness happening.

Good song with meaning but, in terms of mixing, it was quite lazy. Some instruments were clipping a bit leading them to sound rather distorted!

I don't expect much in terms of quality from Koffi these days, so this wasn't as bad as I thought it be

Koffi is like Al Pacino - undisputed one of the greatest ever, having produced some of the most seminal works, but now his best days are behind him, which is fine and normal.

He has a massive following and very occasionally he may put out modern works that are either good and/or viral - or he’ll put out some garbage for views (Toukou Toukou, that noise with Carine Mokonzi, etc). In the end, we should just appreciate he’s still around and active. Sometimes I wish he’d do what Salif Keita and Wemba (RIP) do/did be semi-retired and taking their time to put together solid late albums.

@Matebu

Agreed, but I think he loves the spotlight too much to reduce his public appearances.

I thought this is just a decent singing for his age. Not bad for me.

It’s really hard for me to see how he can headline a U Arena concert in 2020 or 2021 without heavy vocal intervention of a band. Though it’s expected, his voice is a shell of it’s former self.

His 4:1 ratio of great music of the past compare to crap music of the present continues to drop with each new release

It’s becoming a cause of concern. How is no one around him telling him this, even Ferre in that premiere soin interview said no one likes his new releases.

So it's basically like Wenger's reputation before he left Arsenal, when everyone was clowning him for destroying his own legacy. If I were Koffi, I wouldn't worry about trying to stay relevant with the youngers, trying to prove to the world that I'm still hungry even though I'm in my 60s (which I'm not BTW ;D). Now would be the time for him to rest on his laurels and try not to release music of variable quality every month.

And since then what Ferre has done?

Nothing, the "worse" Koffi still far better than actual Ferre, and as thing look nothing will change in future.

Tell us about other musician's ratio, no just Koffi, then we will see if he is in worse chute libre than other.
Some times people forget Koffi is in his 60s, and is no getting younger but older.

Congolese need to be happy Koffi still in music and doing better than most younger musicians today.
Remember Koffi first hit was in 1977, today we still talk about him how many musicians with same age we still talk about them today.

Masta, you’ve been taking offense to any critique I have of Mopao. I happen to think he has the strongest discography of any artist post the père de la music moderne generations. I salute him for being relevant most of his 43 year career, but it doesn’t stop me from believing the music he puts out now is mostly garbage.

My other favorite legends such as Salif Keita, Youssou N’dour, and Wemba (RIP) have been relevant for just as long as Koffi (some longer), yet they put out very strong late albums because they took their time to produce quality over quantity. Salif Kieta’s last album is one of the best albums I’ve heard in recent years. Maître de Ecole was terrific along with Seeni Valeurs/Africa Rekk from Youssou because they took their time to make quality music
