Surprised to hear that the cri/dance "tia mutu bakata" comes from SVP la Gamme. I always thought that it came from shegues of matongé and along with the original dance of "shegue chance eloko pamba".

What Musika-sika said about SVP la Gamme is sad. I think that its Shella who lost his head for SVP la Gamme, just for them to breakthrough which didn't happen. Because don't remember if it was Shulay or Lacoste who said that he lost his lead before becoming famous. Shella is always salty when talking about Wenge 4x4 in interviews when talking about SVP la Gamme and always accusing them for blocking bands to not breakthrough trough nkisi by sending their people to take their ads/posters to do ceremonies with it.

Many bands of Yolo, Lemba, Matongé, K-V, Ngiri-Ngiri and N'djili tried to breakthrough. But it was never really working. It was either the bands not finding a proper producer or someone from Europe letting them record an album, but the album never getting released properly. The succes only being in their neighborhood. Bandleaders trying to use strong nkisi, but losing their head. Some people from Lemba often say that Bogus tried to do it with the band Lemba Music where there were musicians like Binda Bass of Quartier Latin, the late Armand Ngolo of PPU and Bourman Maze of Quartier Latin. But him losing his head and becoming ill for months and then becoming a brother in christ until returning to music as a songwriter, which why he's a devoted christian. But we don't know if that story is true.

Anyway most musicians of these bands  ended up in Clan Wenge, Victoria Eleison, Quartier Latin and Nouvelle Ecriture.

But how can sacrifices backfire? I mean why with JB etc. Work but with some guys loke Dakumuda etc. Doesn’t? Anyway African people really need to stop believing that Kindoki is the way to have success I mean is not even Congo, Ivory Coast, Mali etc. Everyone knows, tried or have heard about a story like that even Pogba's mother thought that going to a sorridere was the way to get her sons to be good at football

from what i have been explained in the industry, its not everybody who is destined to make it work, and its not everybody either that you can sacrifice some people aura is too strong and either it succeeds and it will haunt you hard in the night for a long time or it backfires
i wanted to give example ofa maison mere singer who was taken to those people in the start of his career to boost his fame and integrate group rotation quick he got told  no you it does not work with you let the other guy come in

If Labels like VEVE and Parions still existed in the 90s, maybe SVP la Gamme and others could have competed against Wenge Musica and QL . What do you guys think? Also, I feel like they didn't have access to donors the way Werrason and JB Mpiana did with people like Cardozo and so on

yeah you know many of those groups had record albums which were never released, for example bill genta soleil and co did an album with la geneva but it never got released because their" producer" ran away and never paid the fees
but then again there  would be the eternal problem of those who are already established, they dont always welcome easily newcoming talents they'd either destroy them by "upgrading " them from those group to theirs or spiritually so it still would have been a relatively tough task

I heard a lot of songs from these groups are modified into bigger groups, like Papson originally was a SVP la Gamme song. Is this true? What other songs came from these groups?

If I remember correctly, even you have dabbled in songwriting for Wenge Musica. What songs did you contribute to?

For Musika-sika its the reason why G5 artists to dont want to share their fame with the bandmembers because of them suffering hard which made them heartless.

Many rumors were spread about both JB and Werra, but do both guys sleep well and if they are normal. Don't they use drugs or strong alcohol to forget everything ? I am not saying that Koffi is using nkisi, but did nobody notice during some of his interviews he made from 1998 to 2002, that he was often looking like someone who didn't sleep for days. Especially the those before and after Bercy

Yeah. Because the original first 3th generation band Thu Zahina was killed by Verckys and Franco. Zaiko Langa Langa kept existing because of DV Moanda, otherwise we would maybe have seen Bozi and Nyoka Longo in OK Jazz hahahaha. Bands like Les Grand Maquisards of Ntesa Dalienst and Continental of Josky Kiambukuta were killed by Tabu Ley and Franco and the musicians ending up in their band.

Wenge Musica was just lucky that Verckys went down (because of people switching from Vinyl to CD which made him lose of alot money since that he owned a Vinyl factory), their elders Papa Wemba and Emeneya being based in France, Franco passed away and Tabu Ley being in exil. This all gave them free space.

Its crazy how artists that challenged Wenge 4x4's succes in 1990 felt after Kin E Bougé. They all received karma. Ben Nyamabo who blocked their first Europe-tour back in 1989 wasn't able to bring Choc Stars back to Europe, Verckys who tried through the late Belis Mfumu Luvutula to split Wenge became broke, King Kester Emeneya who attacking them in interviews and humilating them in fara-fara concerts ended up in exil in Europe and was finished, all their former rivals Eden Musica, Lavingnora Esthetique (first generation), La Geneva (first generation), Lokole Ensuite, etc. all dissapeared

Funny to see how Zaiko Nkolo Mboka, Zaiko Familia Dei and Basilique Loningisa were immediatly after Kin E Bougé seen as "orchestre ya ba vieux", while Nyoka Longo and his friends hadn't  reached their 40th year yet. But youngsters still dreaming to join Wenge Maison Mere after 2006 and Fally Ipupa still seen as leader ya ba jeunes.

That's why I have so much respect for Felix Wazekwa, he really made an effort to pay his musicians to the best of his ability. He could have been greedy and undercut his artist, but he's ran his band professionally.

Lol, Wazekwa pays his musicians but it isn't enough to live with it. It the same way like Nyoka Longo used to pay his musicians every month, but his musicians not even being able to pay their rent with it.

If Wazekwa used to pay his musicians well, then his bodyguards, Joss Diena and co and  bodyguards wouldn't go to Quartier Latin. It was one of the reasons why Papy Louange stayed in Europe, because he was fed up to live that way. Having fame but not progressing. When Bralima upgraded Wazekwa's salary, he didn't lift the money of his musicians while he was going financially forward.

The only bandleader who used to pay his musicians well is Koffi Olomidé. The money is still not enough with the fame you get, but you and pay your rent with it and live. The bad side of it, is that if a president would invite them and pay him 400.000 dollars, your salary will remain $300 because you agreed verbally or through your contract with him that you want to be paid every month like that. Hearing that musicians of Quartier Latin are being paid just $300 sounds low. But in Kinshasa back in those days it was alot of money and even more what officials and teachers in Congo were earning.
