The obligatory rhumba for Aliya ;D Seems like the rest of it will be post-2010 Koffi rhumbas

By 90's standards it's a full 80 min album, but today in the days of 3-4 cds it can pass as a maxi-single.

Let's how this album will flop. I know it will have big sales but the songs will likely be below par. Like the previous work that Koffi had done. SAD.

It is so sad because Koffi gave us many great songs. Now he is shadow of himself.

I was listening to Tcha tcho and droit de veto in the car. Man that was koffi, he had an excellent team behind him on those. Not to mention attentat, loi, how does one go from those to 13eme apotre and abracadabra. You can't have simply forgotten where you started.

he's artistic finished bla bla bla. You all forget that Koffi had already proven himself and that he started his music-career in 1978. Name a Congolese artist who is active since 1978 and had made more classic albums than Koffi with being more than 25 non-stop in the spotlights, which Koffi is since 1987. Koffi can now do what he want to do with music and don't need to make classic albums anymore to prove everybody, because everybody knows who he is, of what he is for capable, that he had brought the maximum of himself in his music-career (compared to Debaba, Defao, Carlito, Reddy, Emeneya, etc. who are from his generation and Werrason, JB Mpiana & Ferre) and how he stood "G5-wave" by releasing succesful albums B.E.K. and Abacadabra who had more explicit songs like them and the Wenge-wave by making from Quartier Latin a competition band and bringing animation in his music, with people saying that he was copying Wenge and he lost his aesthetic from the Tcha-Tcho era (1985-1992). But were are JB and Werrason now ? They aren't able to dominate Fally and Ferre, since 2006, they don't come even close. With the ages they got Koffi was still banging with albums like Monde Arabe, Affaire d'Etat & Effrakata with people saying that he he's to old, that he had leave the game to Werrason & JB or go back to make Tcha-Tcho music from the '80s and stop to copying Maison Mere or waiting to their album-release. So in my opinion Koffi don't deserve those criticism. For me artists like Fabregas, Werrason, JB Mpiana, Ferre had to get those criticism, since that they had not give their maximum in their careers. JB Mpiana and Werrason had done alot in their solo-career during the polemic-era (1997-2006). But they don't have their power anymore since the arrival of G5. Especially JB Mpiana, who struggles alot since 2002, having sometimes big comebacks but not being really productive. Werrason is not himself anymore since that the combatants gave him a psychic smack in 2011. He tried to comeback with Ingeta in 2014, but didn't work out.

i'd sum up  what mvulusi said in short, for various reasons koffi jb and werra have reached a level where they can chill and thats something purely natural in any job you learn you work if possible you become excellent in your job and benefit from it then you enjoy
you'll even notice that koffi has much much much more fun now in concerts its not anymore the koffi who does minimum as he has fantastic dancers around  ,now that he's secured longterm stuff for himself and family and buys houses for fun

It feels like a broken record, all these thread stating his career is finished.. He's simply adapts to the times and conditions.

From a global reach (age generations) standpoint, right now, he's as popular as an African artist can be. Very few artists at his age in any genre are as relevant to their popular musical scene as he is.

I'm not a fan of his current music, but if I put together what I like and don't like, the good to superb songs/albums is like 80% of his repertoire.

Koffi is definitely in a place where HE will decide when his career is over. his best musical days are behind him but as stated already he had a long career filled with classics at this point we can only take what we can get from the guy lol when you have a career that spans 30 years you have nothing to prove at that point

Before i make my first comments on this wonderful forum i would like to thank all for the contributions you make. before i used to only enjoy the great melodies watch energetic dance of this great music genre now you have helped understand the beautiful culture. Archos (the Oracle) Matebu and Mvulusi the other rest  my many others its an honour to have you.....Sly and Emo my compantriots so inspirational...we should link up when in Ndola for a beer and dance to some generiques.
On one inteverview a couple of years ago Koffi said and we know music evolves. He said the Tcha Tcho days were different and the demands of today are different. The great Madilu always echoed the saying " the tree that is pelted with stone is the one with fruits", Koffi produces and that is why is criticized often. He has always found ways to make people pay attention to him and market his brand. Music like food, we all have different tastes and its normal that we will give varrying reviews to it.
For Fans promote the ones you like, in the end  the liberals will enjoy the diversity that congolesse music has given us. Thank all once more
