Japonais Maladi is the first solist I saw after Olivier Tshimanga, who isn’t complaining or refusing to play sebene on an acoustic guitar during interviews. Other come often with excuses when they have only an acoustic guitar in possession. It shows that he’s a true guitarist.

The way he played was wonderful.

Japanois Maladi is one treasure in Congolese music. Which soloists have complained about playing sebene with acoustic guitar.

Most solists (for example Kimbangu), always when they come with an acoustic, they say I can’t play sebene, because this guitar is acoustic. While before playing on those electric guitar, they all used to play sebene on those cheap acoustic guitars or those who were self made.
