La Zamba is dead, just a couple years ago it was the place to be always having packed crowds.  Wangila wasn't even singing that good for that type of reaction. When did Yannick Dindo join Maison Mere?

Say that on youtube and you will get multiples attacks from WMM fanatics lol. Werrason is finished, but he's lucky that Congolese music is down (people more being focused on politics and the young-generation on urban & foreign music) and that Fally Ipupa, Fabregas and Heritier Wantanabe aren't able to show their supremacy in Kinshasa otherwise they would already have buried Werrason.

The thing is, is that they keep performing the same old songs over and over again. They barely perform any of their newer stuff.

Most of WMM’s latest catalogue is pretty forgetful to be honest. Some good songs here and there

Yeah Werra/Maison Mere don't like hearing the truth even when the evidence is right there. What do you mean by "show their supremacy" because Fally,Heritier and Fabregas perform in Kin often and the concerts are usually packed. It's just that Stade De Marty's should be opened up for artists again.

With showing their supremacy I mean really dominating Kinshasa giving their elders not the time to rest, like JB & Werra were doing between 1998-2001, Papa Wemba from 1977-1982 and Wenge 4x4 from 1991 until 1997. Having thousands of people behind them when they are walking in the streets and when they return from Europe, like Marie Paul, Werrason, Emeneya & Papa Wemba when they were on their peak, etc. Some of those young leaders can walk easily on the streets like they don't have any succes.

@mvulusi96

Unfortunately, our musicans feel like they have nothing left to prove. The best albums from the last twenty years are a result of creative rivalry, but everyone either too friendly or unwilling to challange each other musically.

There's also oversaturation of artist currently active in music, but it's the small group that seems to be booking the big halls and gaining the lucrative sponsors. They're chasing the money, not so much the praise that comes with being the best. Which is why after a few months, a new release by these guys are quickly forgotten.

Something needs to shake the Congolese music scene or we're in some serious trouble lol

He still has a very good line up. Better than most past groups. He however has other ways to chase money than line up a lot of small concerts. There is less money in concerts and CDs nowadays. He visited Angola, Equatorial guinea, Kenya and Tanzania in the past months. He has concerts lined up in Zambia and Zimbabwe. He has a concert coming up with Kamerhe as guest of honour. End last year and early this year he focused so much on elections. He came back and was working with the group behind closed doors. Lazamba only opened to the public recently. The past three weeks he has been doing concerts round Congo.

It terms of group quality, this crop has diversity. He basically has everything he needs. But he is not a kid anymore to get so excited for nothing. This is trend with everyone. Apart from the hype, there is no special song or album for Heritier we can talk about. Fabro had one good album but it is not a wow album either. Ferre really no longer has that energy he had in the early days. Same with wazekwa, fally... So it is not Werra, it is lack of big euro concerts that has seen a slump in congolese music.

Otherwise if we complain so much about Werra who has even given us Ingeta and 7 tujour dela semen in the past few years, then we can officially declare JB dead musically.
