The guy is literally the most complete musician we’ve ever seen and still remains one of the best chef d’orchestre in Congolese music, but damn he really didn’t have the career everyone expected. These songs are really good. Such a waste of a potential career, but I feel like because he done a good job in Wenge 4x4 and bcbg he gets a pass.

My favorite is Dossier Kinuani. I always liked when he was singing it in his own with a guitar

So at the end why he failed? Like why not compete with Fally and Ferre?

because he overstayed in europe which made him lose most of his band and his sponsors, and by the time he was self funding an album he decided to go into politics then put music aside to study at universty in kinshasa then decided it was not enough and went to study even more in europe until health issues and so on

Génération A was promising, you had Mirage and Mon Ami Guelord coming from Quartier Latin Integral with both eventually leaving the band to join Quartier Latin, Miel de son, Christian Solo who left to join Maison, Ronsard who went to F-Victeam, you also had Dady Air Force who was in Academia where he sang in 4 Coins Kandala. Such a loss, reminds me of Sam Tshintu’s downfall.

being fondé is a bit of a curse at times, masela also had similar reactions before leaving

Being for minimum 1 year abroad as bandleader without your band is already to much for Congolese music. Maybe now not anymore because of no Europe tour being there anymore. But back in the days it would kill your career and if you were someone who were liking being in the race for the n1 spot, it was like you to restart over again. Look how much energy lost Emeneya for restarting over again to prepare Longue Histoire while he made a comeback with Mboka Mboka but him prefering to stay with his wife and children in France for a year.

Alain Mpela has to blame himself. He had everything to succeed. But preferred women, Europe and a luxury lifestyle

Tbh if you check 99% of history focusing too much on women it is always the number one downfall of many great leaders and artists, taking Football for example, Icardi could have won a World Cup with Argentina, but he decided to use his lower parts instead of his head and now Messi ban him from ever participating to the Argentina's national team just for a Simgle Mother of three who is consumed by plastic surgery and that it isn't even that attractive. The same for Samson, he told his secret to a woman not knowing that that was the cause of his downfall, what about Bill Clinton and Nonica Lewinsky, now I am not a misogynist and I do love women, but as a man who strive to do great things you have  to focus 100% on music, sport, or whatever your goal is and THEN when you reach your goal you can go back to thinking about women, imagine if Mbappe and Haaland instead of focusing on their craft decided to party and have a bunch of girls, we probably would have never heard about them.

Loool that was in 2002, I would’ve paid so much money to witness that  ;D Somono is mad and the curse he put on Sam and Modogo actually became a reality.

For sure, he also had problems with some people who apparently started boycotting his music by removing it from the radio and buying his CDs where they dumped it in the river. Mortel Combat was his last chance, he could’ve had a career with Bouro as a duo.
