What about Le Quatro+1 and Etoile or Compteur a Zero and Anges Adorables?

Ilo Pablo was Meridjo’s back up. Ilo Pablo joined Zaïko in 1974, when they arrested Meridjo. Meridjo spent 2 years in Ekafela. Then when he came in 1976 they used to share the drums together until 1988 when Ilo Pablo left to form Zaïko Familia Dei with Bimi Ombale & Lengi Lengi, contacting other musicians of Zaïko to follow them. The percussionist of Zaïko was their founder D.V. Muanda, who became it in 1973, after a reunion with the whole admin and musicians. The musicians were feeling that they weren’t going forward in their lives, despite having big fame. From then they decided that onlu musicians could be a part of their band, not wanting non-musicians to profit from their money of concerts and royalties of Prozal. That why D.V. Muanda became a percussionist for a moment. In 1981 Mandjeku Djerba of Bana Odeon joined, he became famous because of his conga-partition in the Nippon Banzai-album. He would leave in 1988 to join Zaïko Familia Dei. Cele Mbonda of Langa Langa Stats would replace him and stay until 2009 in Zaïko.

He was the one who played the congas not the drumkit, right?

In 1971 he came as percussionist. He became a drummer in 1972 when Bimi Ombale left for Tabou National (back in the days Bimi used to drum for Zaïko and left for a moment, because he wanted to sing). Then in 1973 he created the Cavacha-rhythm that everybody plays until this day. After the creation of Langa Langa Stars in 1981, he became one of the administrators of Zaïko. In 1998, he left along with Bapius Muaka to form Zaïko Universal after being fired by Nyoka Longo because of leadership-war (Bapius Muaka & Meridjo said that it was time not give his role as president up to somebody else, because every Europe-tour was a mess with the money “suddenly” disappearing and them not being able to pay the musicians well. Nyoka Longo wasn’t happy with that a fired them, having also the right on the name of Zaïko and the instruments).

Congolese Music / Re: Gina Efonge's interview with Ado Yuhe

from 1:49:45 min

Jean Pierre Saah and his associate Elvis Kemayo scammed alot of people. If I was Gina, Evoloko, Bozi or Wemba, I wouldn't accept anymore to record another album with him. I remember well, their contract was just 1 album, but after Grand Job they resigned an 3 album-deal.

About Gina Efonge talking that they wanted to add also Nyoka Longo as second guest star to the 3th Quatro-album, made me really wonder how that album would be. Wemba and Bozi aren't serious, they knew that about the project they made with JPS and Le Quatro about the concerts that had to follow after Le Quatro+1, why did they spent to long time in Kinshasa with Anti Choc & Nouvelle Ecriture ? Most of those Kin-concerts were not lucrative and nessecary. That's also how, Koffi Olomide & Papa Wemba didn't have concerts after the release of Wake Up, because of them being busy, Papa Wemba forming Nouvelle Ecriture in Kinshasa with Reddy Amisi & Asta Paola, Koffi Olomide going to Europe with Quartier Latin for a long tour and the recordings of Ultimatum & Loi. But thinking about Le Quatro, Gina isn't really talking the truth, because I remember them having problems during and after the recordings of Le Quatro+1. Gina recording the videoclips alone and not appearing in those of Wemba, Evoloko & Bozi. Gina also calling JPS a "faux producteur" and Gina's atalaku's of Libanko New Look animating on his songs and the one of Evoloko, while Theo Mbala was the main atalaku.

It's strange that they didn't contact Mavuela Somo for Le Quatro-project.  Mavuela was on the foundation of the original Le Quatro that they made in Zaiko. Having on the mics (Evoloko, Gina Efonge, Papa Wemba & Mavuela Somo) in the years 1971, 1972, 1973 until early 1974 when Gina Efonge lost his head. Bozi Boziana came later, he joined when Gina Efonge lost his head. Mavuela couldn't be ignored, just because of not having a strong solo-career like Wemba, Bozi or Evoloko. Mavuela  was also in Isifi Lokole that they formed and later on Yoka Lokole, so he really deserved to be on that project.

Meridjo beside of being the creator of the Cavacha-rhythm that every drummer plays until this day, he was also an excellent songwriter (his were about different subjects, life, love, difficulties).

This song is about fake friends (traitors)

About his wife who wanted to divorce, because of her friends talking about him and the stories in Congolese music about witchcraft, in order to let her hate Meridjo.

Him wanting to say that he want to die without having debts to people.

Meridjo's biggest hit (they remixed in the Nippon Banzai-album). It is about when he spent 2 years in jail in Ekafela (Equateur-province), thinking about his girlfriend and when he was released from jail, he discovered that they took his girlfriend.

The song that Nyoka Longo likes to sing until this day. We can say that the rhythm is the basic of the song Mon Ami Coboss of Wenge 4x4 (from 1:49 min). Its one of Zaiko's biggests hit.

Another big Zaiko hit with the famous funky-funky dance. Many bands would copy Likinga's vocal and make it the main subject of the song (mutu oyo oko linga, ako linga yo. Mutu oko boya, ye nde ako linga yo)

The song that brought Zaiko back on the top, after a little dip. Till this dance people dance it on weddings and birthday parties.

Wenge 4x4 refusing to have a fara-fara concert in the same stage says already alot.

About Marie Paul & Manda Chante not big dancers, don’t forget that their philosophy was more like Viva La Musica with Depitcho & Marie Paul often animating despite having Doukoure as atalaku. Things changed just before the Wenge split when Depitcho left, having Charly Chaplin, Doukoure & Bob Lorenzo as big dancers.

my late cousin who used to play music in his band Grand Libanko, said to me that he often used to humilated his musicians. Once he was jealous that his singer had a beautifel girlfriend,  the next day when she went to see rehearshal of them, Gina ordered the singer to do the dished.

Congolese Music / Re: BOGUS BOMPEMA VOCALS
« on: August 25, 2020, 23:11 »
Bogus Bompema left because Wemba's staff in Kinshasa were giving them headache after coming back from their first Zenith and the Fula Ngenge recordings, also they weren't paid and had to pay instruments with their own money. Bendoson was also angry about it and he would be suspended/fired, which made him join Quartier Latin. Bogus Bompema would follow some weeks after and start his solo-career.

About Bogus joining Wenge BCBG, he started recording his unreleased album in Kinshasa and then JB Mpiana promised to fund his album and get a producer for him. Then when JB Mpiana went with Wenge BCBG to Europe for the recordings of Internet and their long Europe-USA tour, Bogus had to join then some months to start the recordings of his album, which had to be recorded with them. But then when he had to join them, he couldn't record his album anymore, because Titina, Alain Mpela, Kaludji and co were busy with buying their cars (I think JB didn't want him to record that album and wanted him to get into BCBG, to also benefit from his songs). So from then Bogus decided to join Wenge BCBG and started to rehearse with the PPU until that BCBG came from Europe and officialy joining the band. Bercy was his first Europe-tour with Wenge BCBG.

About the conflict of Aime Buanga against Marie Paul & Zing Zong and the trip to Kinshasa, Aime Buanga sung about that. from 2:20 min (the song is called Mombembo), Ricoco already left him at that time.
