Been listening to JB all day today.

This generique sounds promising! I like the crystalline guitar riffs at the end, it reminds me of Alain Makaba.

Speaking of Alain Makaba where is he these days?

Congolese Music / Werrason - Grand Arena Paris 2025 audio
« on: May 31, 2025, 08:26 »
Man I’ve been listening all week and it’s a superb concert (at least audio version). That Augustine sebene was something else.

Still one my favs was Zenith 99 from JB & Wenge BCBG. But I enjoyed this.

This is amazing! Balle de Match has been my most played album out of all of those.

Man I miss papa Wemba. He really was the standard in Congolese music. He is the one that got me into it.

6
Totally forgot about the project. Does he still have a band?

Congolese Music / Re: BCBG NEW ANIMATIONS ARE FIRE
« on: May 10, 2025, 15:05 »
It’s really sad how Congolese poorly promotes themselves. It was a really solid project that they wasted promoting on. Our poor genre.

I normally don’t look at the thread until I listen to the album. But it’s confirming what I expected. I hope I can find a song or two I like on this, but man does Koffi not have advisors?

9
I’m scared but I’ll listen Friday.

Did nouvel horizon disband?

Isn’t Balle de match vol 3 on the way?

I have to disagree here. I feel Congolese music itself is not well promoted and it’s being overtaken by afrobeats. Now I’ll say Fally is the most popular among newer fans but he is not near what classics we had.

I think Congolese musicians need to strategize and find ways to make their impact on the USA. These days it’s hard to know who releases what without this wonderful group. I’ll add French rappers are often blending in notes of Congolese music which shows some growth.

I’ll add I’m a fan of Robinho, Gaz, and I’ll check that guy you posted here.
Why do you always want and care so much about Congolese music impacting the USA??  The music isn't an anglophone speaking language so it will never have that impact towards English speaking countries it just won't.

Well not just USA but other countries as well. If you look at what afrobeats is doing it is truly making an impact in the USA, which helps with growth. Our genre is unique and has an opportunity to make its own impact if marketed properly.

Not to mention we go months without information on music release dates. Not sure what is going on there. Not to mention a few artists seem to just release singles on YouTube and that’s it.

I am pretty all over the place with different genres of music. But that I didn’t know Burna and Davido sound similar to pop in the US. I always check out their music but it’s never standout like Congolese.

How did Koffi run out of ideas???? Does he not have a band anymore? I’m afraid to click to see what this is.
