Congolese Music / Re: Fally Ipupa - Alliance (Clip)

I think the next clip will be De La Renta. Either that or Marlene.

I don't think he has enough fans to even fill half the arena, let alone sell it out.

I already knew which albums you were talking about. But yeah, it's kind of frustrating to guess which albums came out at which month, maybe even which year in many cases. That's why I usually go by animations on certain albums. If there's a cry that was used during that time period, then that album also came out during said time period. For example, if there's an album where the atalaku uses cries such as Helicoptere, Shofele and Kilumbu Ka Kiesse, that album probably dropped between late 1999 and mid 2000. Or that album could be Solola Bien, one that popularized said cries.

With artists like Koffi and Bozi, I have an idea on when their albums would drop back in the day (usually in time for Christmas, and around the same time), and even then, it's just an idea, not evidence. It's hard to tell that Loi and Bana Saint Gabriel dropped in the same month.

I wouldn't say the rumba wave feels forced. Maybe it does today, but this wave has been growing for 20 years. It started when Le Karmapa started dropping music. Back then, it was the standard for albums to open with generiques or sebene songs, but Karmapa boldly broke the standard by opening his albums with rumbas, letting the listener know what kind of music he'd be doing. The success of Je M'Appelle Toi, plus Tabu Ley's advice to stop copying the clan Wenge, really got to Koffi, resulting in Monde Arabe having more rumba songs than his previous albums. Then, Fally and Ferre went solo with debuts that were predominately rumba, marking the moment where everyone else had started to follow. Even JB and Werra, who still made an effort to include a few sebene songs, jumped on the wave.

It still doesn't make it right tho. Regardless of age, she's still old enough to be JB's daughter.

I've been listening to this a lot lately. It's actually a pretty good album. My favourites are Etoile du Berger, Mbua and Sunda's song.

Congolese Music / Re: WAZEKWA SHOOTING A NEW VERSION OF FIMBU
« on: February 10, 2024, 18:23 »
Congo got eliminated so there’s no point. He needs to let go of fimbu, how many times is he gonna remix it?

Aren’t they going for 3rd against South Africa
Yeah but 3rd place isn’t 1st so it’s still losing loool, the only positive thing about the game against Ivory Coast is the players spreading awareness about the genocide

And South Africa's got a goalkeeper who didn't concede a lot of goals until the semi-final, so it'll be hard to get past him.

Here's the full clip and song

That aged well. And then Wazekwa will freak out when you tell him that this is the wrong time, that he should've dropped it earlier.

according to ndombolhino,he's been told from his close sources that all of a sudden fally is pressing hard to perform in march there so that he beats ferre to it and become the first congolese

Going from U Arena (45k) to Adidas Arena (9k) is one hell of a downgrade. If I were Fally, I'd let Ferre have this record while I hold onto mine.

Is my man serious?! How do you go from a half-filled Zenith to U Arena? And he wants to do Madison Square Garden, he's really reaching.

Here we go again. Cultura is just imploding at this point.

Congolese Music / Re: FALLY'S BELGIUM CONCERT WAS AWESOME
« on: December 18, 2023, 15:31 »
I’m pissed that he sang se yo, seul amour, gare du cœur and éternité. Those are the songs I wanted to hear him perform at U Arena and Wembley, but I also understand you can’t have the exact same song selection at all three concerts.

We did get Marlene and Canne a Sucre at Wembley, but I too wanted to personally hear Se Yo live.

You make a great point about everybody dancing during the generiques. I went to his London show last week, and I couldn't help but dance with Fally and his dancers when it was sebene time.

3/3 from Fally. We're looking forward to your review, Manzambi. Surely, Fally did some songs over there that he didn't do in Paris and London.

No doubt that Wazekwa was responsible for this. Archos, you need to get someone to reach out to your guy and calm him down, he's been losing it this past month.
