Ferre shines with Bill and JDT on Miracles because they are Marquis de MAISON MERE, following (for lack of a better word) Werrason at his best. A lot of new albums are following (in all sense of the word) Koffi at his worst. Of course anyone can think of many other examples to illustrate both extremes.
By the way I really like Chella Mputu's album and I think it should be mentioned here as another example of the direction new music is following at its current best. Does any new music stand with Franco, Choc Stars, Viva? Well, hardly ever. But it could. The talent is certainly there. It's the direction that needs to change to keep music at its best and the talent that is certainly could do it.

Yes, NEWSIDE96, Miracles was a GREAT album. I called it a modern masterpiece years ago and some people said I was full of sh*t. I still think it is a modern masterpiece.

Archos said "i dont see congolese music as a music of solo artists".
Bang he has hit it. Not just Ferre and Fally but almost all the new albums are "solo" albums with the one singer being omnipresent and everyone else either given a tiny role or not included at all. The sebene that we all love is replaced by some sort of ego trip singing - by one guy- and you have to really listen to hear any guitar at all. I prefer Ferre over Fally no mistake, though.

I've become a big fan of Bill's over the past 8 years or so. This looks great. Have to get it! Anyone know of a USA or Canada (reliable only please!) source? I'm retired now (but still working) and paying for Europe-US shipping is too much!

Congolese Music / Reply To: Werrason Fikin 2006

Sly, I have the DVD, too, but I'm clueless when it comes to making this little promotional bit for my friend. I know she will want to get the DVD once she sees it. I can't just invite her over. She lives on the West Coast of USA and I'm in the east!

Congolese Music / Ets. VeVe International special
« on: August 07, 2013, 19:43 »
I'm planning a 2 hour radio program that features music produced by Verckys. The last program was all singles with a couple of Maxi-singles thrown to the mix, but nothing from VeVe and I realized this spectacular omission just as the show was ending. The program will air this Sunday.
I have a LOT of music available. What song(s) would YOU like to hear?
Thanks very much.

Congolese Music / Werrason Fikin 2006

I love the DVD of this concert and I think the dancing in the pouring rain from about 1:36 - 1:50 is a breathtaking spectacle.
I want to share that part with a friend to convince her to buy the DVD, but can only find a really awful upload on youtube. The post is terrible because it omits the men's dance and is so badly made that you cannot tell it's raining! Does anyone know if this is posted elsewhere?
Thanks very much
