Ferre was just a featured artist so I'm not putting blame on him. Worst song from the otherwise excellent Black Bazar series

Congolese Music / GÉNÉRIQUES YA BA SAPEURS/GENTLEMENS
« on: September 18, 2017, 23:04 »
My favorite générique clip ever because it captures Matonge perfectly (the spider dance):

Papa Wemba was the artist who started the modern folklore générique trend in the mid-2000s with rhythmist, Costa Pinto dominating.

His lineup was my favorite:
Atalakous: Biscuit Des Ecoliers "le beau animateur", Bob Djamousket "Ambassadeur de l'ambiance", CPP "Aminateur-Pasteur"
Guitarists: Solo - Dady Bola / Rhythm- Costa Pinto  "Le Roi de Tshagunga"/ Accompa - Zamba
Bass: Tosha Mfulakanda “Le Bassist des Bassists”
Drums: Daddy Peufa
Mbonda: Likayabu Mbonda
Synthe: Ceda Cedric

Man, the mabanga Wemba gave to all his colleagues in song would make you think they never had conflicts “Moto oyo ba ko ka measuré ye te, oza grand frère propre... ya Koffi Olomide… Le Grande Mopao” (Nzungu na kifinuku).

Congolese Music / FALLY IPUPA IS CONVINCED HE'S "THE GREATEST"

Still have a lot to prove ndeko, especially compared to your musical forefathers...

*cough* songwriting *cough*

And of course his diehard fans in the comments section are "tooting his horn"

Congolese Music / ARE THE RUMORS OF JB'S NEW GIRLFRIEND TRUE?
« on: September 14, 2017, 20:25 »
That JB and Florence Emeneya are a couple now. Seems like every outlet is putting out clickbait, 30 min videos saying they are.

I mean she has every right to move on after the passing on King Kester (RIP), but another big artist? Wasn't the "home wrecker" polemic she had to deal with for years enough

lol, their situation/scenario reminds me of Djuna Mumbafu's & Empire Bakuba’s famous animation for some reason:

"Eza bolingo,
eloko mosusu te,
Eza bolingo,
tolobana tchaku te.
Tshakou songi-songi...
tshakou a fulana bato,
ah malembe, ah malembe,
ah malembe, ah malembe,
tshakou songi-songi...
Tshakou a fulana bato
tshakou songi,
ah malembe, ah malembe
ah malembe, ah malembe"

Le comédien le plus suspect  ;D

He and his band were performing in every neighborhood of Kin mostly for free as most were suffering from the effects of war. Powerful génériques and great lyrics from Mbuta himself

I know it's a really specific question, but it seemed lots of groups got him on their albums to speak. He sounds Nigerian. The trend started with JB's No Comment Schengen - "BCBG 4by4 is the best of the world... alright... okay".

^ lol, that white girl was one of the chicks that was passed around various groups.

haha, Kester really appealed to what chégues and people of Kinshasa wanted upon his grand return with near 20 minute sebene songs for album Mboka Mboka. Even for me it was a little too long sometimes. Love the raw, live sound.

My favorite of the album, the remix to Dandy. Auguy Lutula plays with such smoothness on solo. Fantastic

Both y'all countries are as f**ked up as it gets, yet you're trying to resolve political conflicts in Libya. Buzoba-rie

And oh man lol, Kagame Président ya Wenge BCBG.... the real reason why things won't change

Kagame (grand prêtre Shrek ndundu) sounds just like Marie Paul  ;D

Alva's group - 13ème bataillon. I heard a snippet of the group's générique and it sounded very promising

As it should, great catchy song. You don't need sebene to make people dance and jump up & down

Fire concert
