Congolese Music / YOUYOUMOBANGUE...best atalaku of the decade
« on: February 24, 2021, 20:35 »

He received a trophy as best atalaku of the past decade (congo/brazza) . He also denied rumors that he had rejoined roga and extra musica. He says he deserves it because at one time he reminds the journalist that at one point he issued an open challenge to any atalaku to a versus challenge and that nobody dared step up to him.The Interviewer dates him to improvise an animation , he asks the journalist to make a suggestion and he crushes it then he reminds the journalist that he’s a true musician , he played in the Salvation Army band and he even played bongos etc...
Listen from 32:20 to the 35:30 mark, this guy is a beast ...
So much I can say about the Interview but he keeps going off into amazing animations , if you understand Lingala I recommend the interview , this guy for me is by far one of the most innovative atalaku on both sides of the river... he deserves more exposure

here is zeta his latest , he let his atalakus shine on it, it was an homage to the old comedy band called "tres fache"

i had heard norbat de paris shout him out and some local dj played his song the other day !!! i would love for you to check him out , i can't stop laughing

Him here hanging out with some musicians notably youyou  Mobangue et Arafat.

If you dont know him, his name is Zao and in 1989 he pretty much took over african music.

it saddens to see him not being rich and well off like most elders in congolese music. If you understand french, i recommend his first album, so many great and still relevant songs.

startin at 2:10, does not the atalaku sounds like a perfect clone of arafat? if i remember correctly , wasn't arnaud laguna in the first iteration of extra musica international, him and durrell loemba were at the helm of the rhythm guitars section? what happened to him till now?

« on: February 12, 2020, 06:42 »

bebert etou their former manager talks mad stuff about roga, threatening to expose him for the fraud he's been. also we found out  that that extra musica had a contract to play in ivory coast but because of the split and since he is the one who negotiated  the original contract and is now the manager of nouvel horizon, they will play at bouake and roga at another location in abidjan. will translate the rest later, me duh tiyadddd

Charly Chaleur seems to be the most popular the moment @37:50. atalaku couche a jeter, a clone of youyou mobangue de brazza  @49:30

Congolese Music / fally almost collapsing
« on: August 31, 2019, 11:42 »

starting at the 9mn mark you can see davido, koffi, fally and roga paying respect, i have never seen fally and roga showing so much emotion like ever. fally looked like he was about to collapse, heard he could not go through his entire performance.

Stubled on this while listening to their album 242 , i actually love it. I t is the sequel kinda of a song that was a hit in both brazzaville and kinshasa called Kanga Dubai... I can't stop listening to it, i love the instruments and how it sounds and the atalaku's voice is not bad, please chime in on this
