Congolese Music / b-one music - heritier et son orchestre
« on: January 19, 2017, 14:25 »

if this has been posted already please delete but i tried to search and found nothing. this is a really nice performance. i find a lot of time in concerts that i watch from these artists the sound quality is not doing their vocals justice (they are sometimes off key and seem to be yelling to overcompensate) OR the equipment recording them is just not that great. this lil concert he put on here is really clear and nice. i could listen to this without the video.

Congolese Music / this is still one of my favorite songs ever
« on: February 12, 2015, 00:57 »

i will always hold on to the fact that i've been rooting for this dude from the very beginning. when people were saying he can't sing and look at him now with his new album. true african youth. he knows his lineage musically and knows the place his voice has in all of it. from the time i saw this old clip i knew!!

sure deplick was the most handsome in the clip and cafe rum had the most angelic voice of the three i still knew fabregas was the stand out! now the people see. so glad he was able to step on his own the way he has.

Congolese Music / List of Not So Popular Congolese Artists.
« on: October 06, 2014, 14:28 »
To be frank I only know the bigger stars for the most part, and those associated with them (former band members of larger more popular groups etc)

To keep abreast of the whole Congolese Rumba/Music scene I think it would be helpful for those who are familiar with other acts
to post up some youtubes and information from these less popular acts. I believe it was DJ SLY who said a lot of these unpopular
acts are pretty good and I would love to have something to listen to while we wait for these larger acts to get over themselves and
release music every 5-7 years.

Appreciate any participation in this thread, thank you in advance.  8)

Congolese Music / Audition...advice please
« on: June 04, 2014, 13:15 »
Ok so I notice a handful of you have connections within the congolese/african music industry. I have interest in doing maybe 1 or 2 rumbas for a project I am planning however I have no access to any song writers or producers. (Although I may be able to get my tonton pepe felly to play for me but he is very busy. I may reach out to him for advise as well)

My question is if I wanted to make an audition video of me singing some songs how would I be able to grab the attention of possible sponsors? Sponsorship is most important as I understand songwriters and instrumentalists are not free.

What should the audition reel contain? once complete who should it be sent to? Should I post several youtubes of me singing certain songs and push them to certain websites and try to make a little name for my self that way first??

It is important to note I am a rapper first and foremost and am not necessarily trying to start a career in congolese music but im seeking to show the congolese side of my heritage similar to how wyclef has done being haitian (im haitian too but I want to be a congolese wyclef for my ppl here, if you catch my drift). Share your expertise with me congovibes family. I have many ideas I need a place to start.
