Congolese Music / What's the longest congolese song?
« on: February 08, 2018, 18:29 »
Like the title says what's the longest congolese song. You always hear about miles Davis " bitches brew" or Isaac hayes's work but I wander what the longest congolese track in history. Right now I can only think of Ntesa Dalienst " Bina na respect" at 17 mins.

Congolese Music / Papa Forme - album review
« on: April 17, 2017, 02:11 »[/img]

So last night I discovered this album called Papa Forme. I think it's a wemba project before he passed. It's full beautiful rumbas and some folk tracks. Definitely a stellar project. I was quite surprised to hear Suzuki 4x4 on one of my favorite tracks Styliste Na Bango. I also noticed reddy amisi and that was it. Definitely give it a listen!

Congolese Music / Any news on any Congolese releases

This is such a dry period for Congolese music. Has anyone released anything? Why are they extremely slow.

Congolese Music / Ricky mululo " Tenant Cache"
« on: December 29, 2016, 08:09 »
The start of my birthday was interesting I found  this album by Ricky Mulolo. Im not extremely familiar with him but he sounds almost identical to Montana Kamenga. Tenant Cache is quite a sleeper. Starts with the powerful generique, then excellent rumbas , a few sebenes added in. This is proper formula for success. The songs I really enjoyed: Generique, Jela ya Mpenzi, Jalousie and job is job. I listened to this on Tidal so I have no access to who played on it.

Congolese Music / The new Papa Wemba album review
« on: October 28, 2016, 07:35 »
This review I did on my Instagram account. Many do t know Congolese music that's why I'm quite general.

It still hurts to know that the great Papa Wemba is gone. The one I grew up listening to as a kid, still to this day Congolese music is a big part of my life. "Forever de generation en generation" is not like your typical Wemba album. This is more like pop/r&b with one rumba track. It is very beautiful although short. Wemba has a wide catalog and has ability to appeal to any musical genre, I feel this album is more like "Emotion"  which was produced by Peter Gabriel (check that one out). This album although without the fire sebenes is quite excellent in singing and a stellar lineup of featurings. Rated: highly recommended Check out: ingratitude feat Nathalie Makoma, Azanga feat Sekouba Bambino and Rumba originale feat MJ30

Congolese Music / Robinio Mundibu - Chiffre 9 my review
« on: August 24, 2016, 01:55 »
We are definetly in a congolese music draught albums are slowly releasing! But occasionally when artists decide to release we sometimes land on gold. Robinio Mundibu single Chiffre 9 happens to be one of them for me. Robinio, I believe from Maison mere released a 6 song single thats well just catchy and interesting. 1 of the generiques 4 lettres starts off quite powerful then explodes in sebene then goes into a catchy slower rhythm after 3 mins or so for the duration, it grows on you its similar to what Djino did on his generique on his album but its much shorter. Now the next song Kamikaze is something I would grab a significant other and slow dance. This track is just soo well sung, especially if you have a nice music system you can really appreciate Robinio's singing. The 2nd generique of the album tsha Nanu boye is quite consistent and rather powerful definetly easier to dance to. Yaya to me was average rumba not too bad. Pompe was quite a nice couple decale or pop effort I should say, defiently repeated it quite a few times. Like kamikaze Mapendo did the same to me, singing was purely out of this world, quite impressive for someone go around with their first EP. Overall this is highly reccomended, songs are short and its quite simple singing, someothing i wish Fally (exemption of F victeam) and Ferre could implement into their albums. Now we look forward to Heritier!!!!

Congolese Music / I still cant believe
« on: April 26, 2016, 04:45 »
Saturday night I was enjoying some music and good drink. Its still has not sunk in that Papa Wemba is gone. That evening around 12am-4:45am i was listening to quite a bit of music. One of the main songs of Wemba I often replay is Mea Culpa ( Emeneya on vocals but I dont know the other guy on that song Esperant? ) but It wasnt until my final song I went to bed after playing Chasse l'Homme from Maitre D'ecole , it wasnt till the morning I saw Wemba had passed on. Very emotional Sunday and will be week. Papa wemba is a very influencial artist to many, Ive never seen a band leader help many of artist grow by helping them produce albums ( stino, Modogogff, reddy, ive found many on Tidal with Viva la musica name attached to it) . He will be forever be missed, hes the only one that has stuck to what he does best. Whats mainly important is that he died doing what he does best making music.

RIP Papa Wemba

Congolese Music / Defao project
« on: March 15, 2016, 06:39 »
So what happened to Defao project? Time is money I believe it's called. It's been a long long time now. Congolese artists are very weird when it comes to release dates.

Congolese Music / 13ieme apotre
« on: October 15, 2015, 22:20 »
Has anyone made through the whole album yet? I listened to CD 1 last night selfie, pricoces club caught my attention. Ferre song is very good also. It's a bit better than abracadabra hopefully I will complete CD 2 and CD 3 today. I do like Cindy but she's being used too much. Her last single was just perfect, but now koffi doesn't give other band members a chance.
