10/10 I don't know how people may say that it is not perfect, I mean 33 songs is the right number, since Congolese music have a very short number of songs.

How blind mono Fuji is, is beyond me. How does he wait for kibense and rio to reach 100 yr???
He prefer being treated badly, but having money and fame, instead of going solo and becoming like Chai

i think moving with miel makes a little bit more sens in terms of full freedom,in team wata there was mandjeku who is one of the chefs while with miel he would be an automatic chef, surely he could try to go back to maison mere one day given his record of u turns but i guess they had enough of him, i just realised from the second trip of wenge in europe in 1992 only four musicians remain very active in kinshasa till today,jb,werrason, ali mbonda and maitre ficarre, thats quite a lot of time by the maison mere standards
I think one of the reason Ali left MM, is the fact that he wasn't getting the credit and the respect that Kakol got, Kakol is way more little than him, but Kakol is the Orchestra Chef, have crazy authority over the youngsters and his own colleagues, while Ali has a lot of times being in the negative spotlight like when he rant about not having a car when Gilles Massua came, or when he fought Lobeso, he was probably mad that Werra kinda "forgot" him over Kakol and you know how musicians are, he will have a lot of freedom with Miel, but the problem is that Miel isn't the best solo artist out there and he will rarely becomes a strong solo artist unless he does something special.like Fabregas did.

Ali Mbonda is starting to loose credibility, I hope he will not go back in MM few years after bagging for forgiveness, like some others did, he should have stayed in Team Wata, Miel is not going anywhere.

Finally some footage of Bana Odeon. Never actually seen what they looked like or what they sounded like but seems as if every atalaku in the sun was formed there from what I always hear.

Under african skies can never be topped I dont think. Unless someone does some deep deep research on the golden years, but I doubt anyone is gonna be able to pull unseen footage from those years. Great documentary and very informative I watched it about 5 years back maybe thats why I missed the Odeon part.

Crazy how you can almost see the future of someone when they’re still child though

Maybe one day we’ll put out knowledge and technical skill together tocreate a 21st comprehensive documentary. The issue is almost everyone has a complex, so people probably not participate when they find out their rival is also participating.
If you pay Koffi, Ferre, Fally, Werra, JB 50k dollars for making a documentary all of them together in one place they will  accept it

I really don't know why Kirikou is so much hated, he is not Bill, Brigade, Ambulance, Kabuya or Fusèe, but he is committed and writes a lot of cries, Bercy is way much worse but people respect him more only because he acts like he were Bill

Who’s hating on him?
Congolese Diaspora especially in Europe, if you check all the Yt comments, or pages like Macdeddy and so on Wenge MM fans, Ferre fans, QL fans bashing him on the comments saying he is a weka voice who cannot handle any type of Orchestra, I can agree but at least give this kid a try, what I don't understand in our Congolese audiamce is that they prefer to hate instead of showing love to other musicians beside their favourite one.

One observation I've made over time is that the Congolese people tend to be overly critical of their own musicians. There is a lot of comparison between this guy & that guy, this group and the other group, how this one pays their musicians against how the other one does, how this song does not match to that Franco album etc. Sometimes even when it is not necessary to make such comparisons. There is no that mentality that "this is not my cup of tea, I'm just gonna leave it alone". People feel that they must have an opinion on everyone & everything.

It's pretty much the same situation here in Kenya. No wonder we do not have many if any internationally renown musicians
What about Sauti Sol? They are young and have a lot of talent they should be in P-Square/Davido/Toofan/Arafat type of success.
Anyway is because Congolese people almost naturally are very good in art especially music and soccer, in fact if you check Congolese footballers they play for Belgium or France, and they have won 1 CAF and 2 African Cup of Nations, for the music Deplick said " Congolais mposo moko litoyi moko" which means Congolese are of one skin and of one ear, because we had so many great music that if you come up with shit, people will tell you clearly that you were shit.

Noella hasn’t  been the same ever since her husband, Makaka Sims(RIP) passed away last year. So much family turmoil for her
Who is Makaka Sims?

But he is the most persistent Atalaku he was good then and he is still pushing now......... Bill is King yes but if i were to choose myself i will go for Brigade (Good at Quatier latin, Excellent at Wenge MMM, Good again as solo artist) Everyone else did great on their days and then failed to keep up
I can agree on the level of consistency Brigade had but you have to remember  that Bill has some very great song in the musical sense, despite not being successful like his work in Wenge, Bo Mpikiliki

Kibota

Operation Obama (Tshikibwa)

Palpitation Totale

Fukushima

Kulumbimbi

Sagesse (which I can't find on YouTube)
And many others, Bill simply didn't become a stunning solo Artist like his ex Wenge colleague Ferre only because he is a millionaire he makes a lot of money so he really doesn't have the anger to proof himself again since he already made a name for himself in Wenge.
While Brigade lives only of his music plus a lot of extra jobs to go far so he needs to make excellent music like he does to go far.

For me this is the best atalaku ever........ Congo had/has a star here. It doesn't matter which band he is with...... He is always on point

I don't agree about him being the best atalaku ever but surely he is the best atalaku in the post Bill era, I think that despite him being more famous in Congo with Werra and with his first big hit Edenda, his best work until now is in QL Fally and Koffi were the best fit for him, while Lobeso was a good match but was too much slow for Brigade's pace, Malewa was of slow pace while Brigade did a great job in Sous-Sol with fast pace.
With that said, listen to Caludji, Ekokota Roberto, and Bill in his prime or even Celeo with Ko Yimbi Ko if you compare the cries, the swagger and the style of delivery you will see that Brigade misses something to be in that conversation, but he deserves a lot of credit for having a successful solo career despite being an atalaku

Congolese Music / DOES TRADITIONAL POWER WORKS?
« on: May 21, 2018, 12:20 »
With traditional I don't mean satanist one but I  mean a more pure one, (one more strictly correlated to nature and ancestors) has this kind of help made bigger or better our musicians with music? Because unlike many popstars, despite having the same good/bad luck in their path to success, it is very rare to hear of a Congolese and furthermore a black African artist who suicide himself or is heavily depressed the way white people especially European and American ones are, for example Avicii who despite having all success, fame and money cut his neck with a broken bottle because he was unhappy.
