For a usually mellow artist, back in 99-00 the aggressiveness of thé générique and the sebene songs made more of a shock to me than Cocktail. Theo Mbala’s versatility really shined along with Coréen Polystar

The rhythm gets me every time as well

Man, the Memories on this one!!

Animation was great and the overall album was very good.

Thanks Ndeko, I am going to dig up this from my archives.

Nice tribute, very poignant mutwashi tune.

Thanks for sharing.
RIP Mamou Nationale...

I fell in love with her music when i heard this song in the then popular music program URTNA.I have never been able to getthe video for this song.

Yeah,

URTNA was the place to meet African stars them days.
I too have never seen a video of Vuluka Dilolo, especially the UTNA version.

Mamu Nationale was a Treasure and trailblazer for female musicians and she left a very clean record and legacy.
Rest in Power Tshala Muana Queen of Mutuashi....

Thank you very much for this, Somehow I missed this post.

Veve was the foundation for groups like Orch. Veve, Orch. Kiam, Lipua Lipua, Kamale e.t.c.

A very refreshing session !

Indeed, I never thought I would live to see them sing together again.

I hope they continue their perfromances of the Original 4X4.

Congolese Music / Re: RANK ALL THE CONGOLESE GROUP FROM THE 80'S
« on: January 14, 2022, 19:34 »
Not sure of you want groups that were formed before the 80s and played in the 80's as well as those
that were formed in the 80's but here is a start:

Franco & TP Ok Jazz
Tabu Ley & Afrisa
Zaiko Langa Langa Nkolo Mboka
Zaiko Familia Dei
Choc Stars
Empire Bakuba
Lipua Lipua
Orchestre Veve
Orchestre Bella Bella
Viva La Musica
Victoria Elleison
Tshala Muana (Not sure of her band's name)
Sam Mangwana & African All Stars
Vatta Mombasa & Orchestre niamou niamou

Man, 25 minutes of dancing!!

They all did a great job Titina, Mbetenge and the others

This I like.

There are a number of very nolstagic cries in it and the guitar work is on Point.
Good Effort.

Congolese Music / Re: BARARK OBAMA A FAN OF CONGOLESE MUSIC
« on: July 10, 2021, 18:22 »
Nice to see

This follows.
I read in his autobiography how when he was young his father would put on a Lingala LP and would dance to it.
Obama said he was facinated at how the music would take his dad ot some trance-like state.
Probably some Luambo or Tabu Ley classics as they were the hot musicians of that time.

Heh Heh Heh||

That dance style on 0:15 was known as bumping - Very popular the world over - Variations were Bumping Kungfu and Watergate....

This clip has taken me back.

Thanks Man

Is the soloist Mongo Ley the one who was in Lipua Lipua?
