Very good they do it very well!

For me the biggest missed opportunity is that Extra Musica left out the song: Karen Amour from the Trop Cest Trop album, only releasing it on the DVD as clip.

Congolese Music / JP BUSE in concert with Nyoka Longo
« on: March 15, 2023, 18:02 »
The two have just had a concert together in Kinshasa. Very interesting when you consider from the big 80's line up he is the only living singer besides Nyoka Longo.

Usually they work somewhere legal or illegal. In London there was a guitarist who was fully covered by government support, he never worked, he had a room, monthly payment support, etc. And maybe they gets some money from old friends or sponsors as well, or from church. I know musicians getting money from church for this or that.

Congolese Music / Re: Renato Mondele & Padou Machine X
« on: February 04, 2023, 10:35 »
Renato is in London, sometimes releasing tacks with Mboka Liya helping with studio work. I have been working on an album with him but at the moment it is on hold because of lack of money.

He tells me about Padu Machine sometimes, but I rarely hear about him. He is doing something in London, too. But none of them is fulltime musician now, they have civil jobs as main source of income. But Renato plays every weekend at Maestro Bar in London. Mboka Liya is also there most of the time on Fridays.

It is sad to see he is not talking about the real problems which is not witchcraft, but rather selfishness and everybody wanting to be the boss. This is not the way to run a successful band. Musicians are going more for success nowdays than doing quality thing. What matters is having the album not how the album sounds. Now, in that circumstance it is not a surprise the culture is declining. There was witchcraft in the 60's, 70's and 80's as well, the music scene was not like today even so.

Congolese Music / Re: The sebene of this Bozi song was to short

from 4:37

Its because of this song that Bozi got nominated at the Kora Awards '99 and winning the price as 'Best Male Artist of Central Africa'

I had the exact same opinion about the sebene when I listened to that song long ago.

I haven't noticed this up to know. Very interesting to see how the music sceen looked like in the 80's, the circumstance our favourite bands opearated in, the nightlife and local gigs, that we rarely see on footages.

Congolese Music / Re: Beniko Popolipo plays 77X7 and Vimba
« on: December 14, 2022, 09:51 »
It is Payment Cash not 77x7. The latter is the solo of Daniel, but this one is his own, so to say. The rest are later solos, that is correct.

I would be quite interested in seeing him playing Daniel. Not this time.
