Congolese Lyrics / Koffi Olomide -Coucou
« on: October 17, 2014, 23:21 »
I have been listening to classic Koffi songs from his old releases; V12, etc. Coucou happen to be one of songs I listen to very often. What is he singing about?

Archos, please tell me.

Archos, I think the answer is in the live performances. In the live version recording, the impros are all let out. Case in point Werrason Live 2010 Au Zenith. Koffi is very good at impros in liver concerts. Yes I don impro a lot times in my head.

Congolese Music / Re: MEJE30 INTERVIEW WITH MARIUS MUHUNGA

Archos thanks. I wouldn't have known the type of love life MJ30 is attracted to. Though I don't understand what they are saying, never-the-less I still love the look of the interview. MJ30 lives nicely in some apartment and not in the slum or hanging on to Koffi Olomide. She has also lost some weight and looking like her age; about 34 years old.

Congolese Music / Re: WHY I LIKE WAZEKWA DRUMIST...

Shamala, I simply love Wazekwa music, period. Wazekwa is a great talent.

Thank you Shamala for posting this Wazekwa clip. I love Felix Wazekwa artistry. Many have knocked him on his songs but forgot if all artists sound alike, then there will be variety. Not all aretis will sound like the Wenge, JB and Koffi. I love your positive remarks.
Archos, you always go deeper to shed some light. Keep the great work.
My jobs takes me from NYC/North East to the South West every week; 6 hours either way plus in-between. I have down time today and decided to check in.
Whoever posted the Shei Ngege studio clip, thank you.

Congolese Music / Re: Koffi Olomide Vs Felix Wazekwa

Unbelievable! Archos, why will a groan man act like that? This is the reason some people say Koffi acts like a child. I thought it was something that has to do with money or women.

Congolese Music / Koffi Olomide Vs Felix Wazekwa

Feix Wazekwa and Kofi Olomide don't get along; by thee way, what musicians get along in Congo? What statd their discord. Is it music branding, songs, deal, women. What was the geneseis of their fall-out?

One of the all time great Congo musician is Docteur Nico besides Luambo. OK jazz. Dr. Nico's music inspired a lot of West African musicians that the highlife music stole a lot of bars from him. You heard Dr. Nico's music you know it is him.

Today the musicians all sound alike almost and the fans at the open concerts adore them, so they dont think they off the track for many others who are non lingala speakers.

THE ROUTE OF CONGOLESE MUSIC IS THE RUMBA AND I ENJOY IT IN ITS PURE FORM.

Archos, as always thank you very much for your insight on Congolese mabanga. I will quickly say that Kinshasa is a late comer to this, however, it turned to be very extreme in mentality.
One time I was a Nigerian band concert and the people started showering money (dollars) at the musicians, particularly the leader. Money was raining like water all over. I asked why, they said that it is the tradition to shower musicians with money from ages. (open tradition). The guy went on to explain that business men have used to advertise their business, clubs have used it to popularize their union and persons have used to promote themselves dating back decades.
The one thing I noticed on the video of the history of Papa Wemba and SAPE that DJ Sly posted, a women was willing to steal and sleep with Papa Wemba for a song dedication; that I found very appalling –bad.
IT IS A GOOD THING THAT I DON’T HEAR LINGALA, I JUST ANJOY THE SONGS. It could have been a turn-off.

This a very great work. Thank you guys.

Congolese Music / Re: Le Karmapa is a very underrated artist
« on: February 19, 2014, 15:25 »
Karmapa is a great Congo Rumba artist. I have a couple of his albums/DVDs. For somw reason he has never found success as financially as Koffi or the Wenge team. One thing I have come to find out is that outside of Congo, not many Africans are into pure Rumba like Karmapa plays; it has to have a mix of strong sebene and of course prancing stage girls and boys. He needs that Europe crowd and big concerts. I have not seen a Karmapa concert though.

Thank you Archos and DJ Sly. I know Koffi is a big dick and not totally innocent. I was just reacting to Karmapa language. I love then all.

DJ Sly, you hit my sweet spot on this. It maybe late revelation to some, but it is a new one for me and I am sure it will be for a lot of people I know

DJ Sly, Forbes ranked Koffi Olomide at the top tier as one of Africa's richest artists and famous. I think they know something I don't. He definitely has invested wisely outside of Africa besides his real estates in Kinshasa. The type of language from Karmapa is quite uncalled for and shows enviousness and not that of rivalry.
