Congolese Music / Re: An old article about Koffi Olomide (1998)
« on: November 18, 2018, 07:37 »
Anyone have a video or photo of the 98’s zenith with the whole groupe? (Bourro savane malale sam babia modogo mboshi somono do binda ect...)
Because all i have of this concert is some memory of koffi in french news in 98 when they made a little documentary & i remember koffi on stage, jump on do akongo’s back & they all weared red jackets. But i was 5 years old (yes im an hypermnesiac)

I think that was Zenith '98.

This song is way better than Canne à sucre. I can say that. I like this song.

I am hurt by Canne a sucre. Because the acoustic version sounds 10 times better than the studio version.

Congolese Music / Re: OT SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC NDIBAMBE

Manzambi, are you referring to fame in SA or abroad?
Die Antwoord, I guess because of their Hip-hop genre, they might appeal to more fans abroad, as Hip-hop is globally recognised

Whereas with Heavy-k, his music is branded under "House Music" and sometimes, "Gqom music", which is predominantly Southern African. I compare House Music to what is known as Deep House. Language certainly plays a role too. Which is the case with a lot of House DJs, with the exception of the established acts like Black Coffee who plays in Ibiza.
