the generique of pape god, sweet memories, back in those early 2000's i often went to abidjan and west africa in general and it was among the songs played a lot but i never figured out who it was ,except jb werra koffi bokul i was surprised to listen to bozi boziana's jeu muke there a lot, along with guys like cesar loboko,jf ifonge who both had their clips played on daily basis in togo for example...good old days, now people care more about views and instant buzz than quality....

Yeah, that album is so unsuspectingly powerful. The génériques harder than the ones on Shalaï I think and Rama was drumming like never before in a few songs

The Ivorians couldn’t get enough of Extra back then and for good reason

Agreed. Any album recommendations?

Sure; some sleepers you may or may not have heard. I like music with real instruments:
Nouvelle Ecriture Cour Des Grand - Ouragan
Nouvelle Ecriture Cour Des Grand - Hiroshima
B3 Mapapou - Samedi... Ça Me Dit! (Alain Makaba, Nene Tchaku, JDL & Caen Madoka enough said)
Felix Wazekwa - Sponsor
Aurlus Mabele - Fiesta d'or
3615 Code Niawu - Bel Ami (Fantastic sebene from the sebene master himself)
Zola Tempo - On va s'amuser (Fantastic animation by favorite Alphatchino RIP)
Jarrys Fimbu - Volcan
Guy Guy Fall - Force de Frappe
Pape God -  Acte Fondamental (Really amazing sebene from Roga Roga, Arafat 3500v, and Ramatoulaye)
Alain Makaba - Ya Ku Dominer
Benz Petrole - Vaccin
Show Do Man - Show Do Man (feat Koffi & Wemba)
Soukous Stars - Soukous Force 1
Bimi Ombale (RIP) - Bweta

This was the best generique in the past week. All the other ones are surprisingly underwhelming.

Sad state of affairs for this genre for us to be in this situation

Every release from this summer I listened to once, maybe twice before loosing all interest. I listen to albums from the golden era (80's, 90's, early 2000's) almost exclusvely now.

After dropping the great generique "Nzube na Nzube" last year he's dropped the ball with his last two releases. This is crap

I can smell the whiskey, Hennessey, and drug paraphernalia coming through my headphones...

If somebody said this is better than Fally’s générique I wouldn’t argue with them at all.

Yeah, some time back

The greatest modern atalakou has been putting out lots and lots of forgettable music folks. Plus he insists on French lyrics way too much....

Is it me or has this afro-block/trap wave type of song run it's course? Everyone is doing it and the beats and effects are so similar

Our artists really need someone in the studio to straight up tell them “nah, that ain't it”  -Charlemagne voice. The great arrangers in Europe used to do that and the result was great music

I think so; we've know about Balle de Match for over a decade now and it's become a joke now in a sense.

BCBG is currently riding on the "Je te bloque" wave in recent concerts as soon as they figured how to flip what should've been a PR disaster into a new band slogan/dance

Montana was very skiny in those days. Aaah Guy Wa Nzambi, he left Defao to early. One of my favorite bass-players. How many versions of Solange did Defao record ? Because I know 3.

There are 4 versions of Solange - first from late 91, another in 92 recorded in Africa and then a 3rd (94) & 4th (Dernière album 95) both recorded in Paris. The last version has Luchiana Demingogo featued. Those early local Defao albums are so hard to locate.

The public really loved Solange and Famille Kikuta really great classics

Funny thing i was on his youtube page the clip 295 likes but only 8 views, what the??

Adds to the conspiracy that he’s been buying views for a few years. Idk

Seems like the bigger star you are, when times are good you’re on top of the world, but when things go wrong it’s lots things going bad at once. I’m not writing him off or trying sound like  a hater, but reminds me of Koffi in 2006/07 when he lost consistency after many key members left.

ALL I CAN SAY IS: This is garbage .  waiting on balle de match now.

Yea, social media response is overwhlemingly negative. Hopefully Fally will listen to some constructive criticism and adjust.

Between this, the BET awards situation, and that tv show I'd say it's been a tough month for the brother

Guys RDNDEKITA  is here with us.

True. Too bad it's in a class of it's own. One would think the younger guys should be better at dance music than the seniors
