Congolese Music / Re: KOFFI SPOKESMAN EXPLAINS WHATS GOING ON BETWEEN KOFFI AND FABREGAS« on: November 15, 2016, 20:03 »it was gabin but they sorted it out as for the four other guys i know they went to meet zacle and also attended a couple of bcbg concerts as to prove a point to koffi Gabin is a relative; he used to tell me about their regular staff meeting on Champs Elysees, as shown in the photo. These guys were his consigliere, they had their own business interests so some were also donors. Part of the reason Koffi had so many Europe concerts in the early 90’s was because they were doing the negotiations Part of the reason they fell out is because they could no longer meet because of Koffi’s legal issues since they didn’t want fly back and forth. Some had by that time lost interest in the role. Koffi thus put together a much younger staff in Kin (with Tutu Roba & Jonyco at the top) and in Europe, Sandra Kazadi and Angela central effectively took the roles of Ize Bola (ex associate/manager of Zaiko at their peak in the 80’s), Gabin, JPK, Patrick Diamona, etc. Some have pursued political offices. Jack Kitshindja was also close to that group. Most of them were present at his father's wake, so they've must have sorted issues 5058

Looks like JB gave him his Pontiac Solstice he used to cruise around Kin with. Look how pompous he is standing next to it as if it's a trophy

Congolese Music / Re: KOFFI SPOKESMAN EXPLAINS WHATS GOING ON BETWEEN KOFFI AND FABREGAS« on: November 15, 2016, 00:58 »So Bouboule Iyondela was fake friend of Koffi... talking bad about him behind his back Koffi, Bouboul, and Hugo Tanzambi (RIP) were childhood friends and have been close since, so something significant must've happened recently between the two for relations to go bad. He helped him start Likonzi protégé a decade ago around the time Hugo Tanzambi was murdered in streets of Kin. 5062

Congolese Music / "FAUTE YA COMMERÇANT"« on: November 14, 2016, 06:29 »Midway between both songs ... Same composer One of the biggest problem I have the present state of music- these guys have them same pool of composers and they no longer bother to edit the lyrics to add individuality... or even listen to recently released music to see if there are similarities 5065
Congolese Music / ARCHIVE OF WHEN BENDOSON BRIEFLY JOINED QL« on: November 14, 2016, 02:54 »
Came across this VHS poster I had saved.. The main condition was that Bendoson was told to participate in the recording of mbuakela song Malanda Ngombe, but girlfriend issues quickly took over, resulting in him returning to Nouvelle Erciture in less than week. Part of the reason he left Wemba was salary issues and the rapid ascension of Wemba's then new favorite, bulatulu Aphatshino (RIP). He never had the same stature upon his return, which is typical.
Koffi's Bercy had the most extensive marketing program of any African concert, with the date being set in late 1998 and some tickets being made available first quarter 1999. Various posters were everywhere in Chateau rouge, Matonge - Bruxelles, and near Bercy. I also came across the Destination Park des princes concert poster for the annulled concert. His fan club put together the footage 5066
Congolese Music / Re: MAN BABY NDOMBE HAS SO MUCH HIDDEN TALENT« on: November 13, 2016, 20:20 »
He's in Kin at the moment and occasionally has concerts, even did a Baby chante Koffi au Saint James. He's has a single coming by year's end, which will likely be produced by Kofficentral or Delta music

Forgot to mention Caen was a rhythm guitarist in Empire Bakuba in the late 80's-early 90's before basing himself in Europe

He was a studio insider and made a point of just being a session guitarist. Right around that time he was working with Defao on his album, which I've forgotten the name of. It had songs like Oniva, Georgina, P.P.C.M
Gatho Beevans was such a sensation in the early part of that decade. He followed Carlyto and Debaba, becoming religious singer while still a star. 5069
Congolese Music / Re: Archive; Koffi Olomide & Quartier Latin International - Live at Bataclan (2006)« on: November 13, 2016, 02:03 »
Interesting, in the first sebene part of the concert, which was I believe the first live video of Koffi posted on YouTube way back in 2006, it seemed like everyone was in good spirits and dancing. Bataclan is a cramped and hot concert hall, so 3 three hour wait would understandly make any audience discontent

Congolese Music / Re: HOW ROGA ROGA AND EXTRA MUSICA UNSETTLED THEIR RIVALS« on: November 13, 2016, 00:00 »Retirada has been released, lets talk about the current/future and not some washed up musicians from the late 90's. At the end of the day, the musical productions of past remain far more popular overall. It's what made most of us the music enthusiasts we are. These stories give us insight to questions some of us may have asked in the past about various bands. Until musicians end the practice of withholding music, the majority of current/future topics will continue to be defections, recruitments, deaths, and silly polemics. Retirada is good, but from the various reviews I've seen on the web, reception seems to be lukewarm. A sign of album that may have been hyped up too much. Deplicks album has been discussed at length since it's release |
