Congolese Music / KEVIN MBOAUNDE - LIKUNDU OFFICIAL CLIP
« on: September 09, 2022, 08:33 »

The only thing that kills Kevin Mbouande is promotion, otherwise musically he rarely disappoints. I guess its what Papa Cheri says talent and hardwork have to be accompanied by chance from God. I like Dr Cousteau's part at the end and that forklore. I see that there is already claims and counter claims about who started first to do those forklore ever since Roga Roga's Bokoko became a massive hit even though both have been doing it from close to 20 years now with Patrouille De Stars doing that Congo Uni song credited to Biraman.

Was this deliberate by Koffi saying at minute 03:50, "Naza na mbula tuku misatu te mais nasalaki nzembo oyo tango nazalaki na mbula tuku misatu ça veut dire ya peuple vingt ans kwa, bo compredre ngai mwa muke cote wana  ;D?"  meaning "I am not 30 years now but i did this song when i was 30 years old" now in translating mbula tuku misatu which should be 30 years, in his translation he says "mbula tuku misatu means vingt ans or 20 years". Lol

The song chemin de la vie is from the ngobila album of 1986 i think at which point he was 30 years old but sang here years later on a live concert dubbed 100% Tchatcho.

Here is a purpoted DRC Under 16 AFCON winning team member looking like a whole Papa Mobimba with a chin that has been shaving beards for years. ;D

So just like late Waney Pecho (Zizou Zidane) and Dede Djasco he is also from DRC grew up in Limete of Kinshasa.
He says he grew up a big fan of Wenge Musica and idolising Alain Makaba from where he got the inspiration to become a guitarist starting off as a rhythm guitar player before becoming a soliste.
Joined Patrouille des Stars at the same as Waney (actually he is the one who persuaded Waney to move to Brazza to join the newly formed group).
He says he was tested together with Waney. On his test he interpreted Makaba's solo in Ndombolo generique while Waney interpreted Reddy Amisi's "Bomengo ata kala" song.
Says his sad memory in the music journey was the death of Waney because of him being the one who convinced him to move to Brazza for music.
More than 20 years on he still is the number one soliste of the group led by Kevin Mbouande.

His song from the new Maxi Single "Eteya yo".

Quite an interesting interview and Serge seems like a very good story teller. The interview mostly a tribute to Josky Kiambukuta.
Short summary:
He talks about how he was recruited as a bassiste in TPOK Jazz in 1992 having been working in the studio of his parents so he was a bit known to the likes of Josky et al even though he was  still young compared to the many members of OK Jazz.
He talks about how in the beginning when it was still OK Jazz they were not playing Franco songs in concerts because of the disagreements that had already started brewing between the hierarchy of the orchestra and Grand Maitre Franco's family about royalties. He says they would only play Franco's songs when Madilu System was around.
He also talked about how Madilu was sent to Europe to go and negotiate the terms of the contract they had were they still had problems on the number of artiste who were to travel. He says when Madilu met the producers in Europe he instead told the producers that OK Jazz was now under his control so they should forget about Ppa Simaro, Josky or Ndombe Opetum. Thats how he organised musicians in europe and played those concerts and upon his return in Kinshasa he was asked about the money since they knew that he had performed to which Madilu said (Serge imitating Madilu's voice :D) he had given the money to Franco's children because they had serious mpiaka at home. Madilu further saying he couldn't let Franco's children be suffering like that so thats how gave them all the monies and thats how Papa Litumba as president let him be. He also says Madilu after his return to europe was wearing just normal clothes not like someone who came back from europe to divert attention to the fact that he ate all the monies he made in europe but that after a week all so he could no longer hide his forme that he came with from europe which raised suspicion and led to his suspension from the group.
Serge also talks about how Papa Simaro was fired from the group by Francos's family at which Vieux Simaro vowed not to do music again as he couldn't stomach the betrayal he was being subjected to having been a loyal number two of Grand Maitre Franco for years till his death. He says after Simaro was suspended, Josky was to become President of OK Jazz with Madilu as Vice President but that Late Josky refused to become president as he couldn't betray his Vieux (Simaro). Thats how most of the senior members sided with Lutumba Simaro apart from Madilu off course. He also says after Lutumba was removed as president Josky, Ndombe and other senior members met and decided to form a new orchestra away from OK Jazz, thats how Bana OK was formed and they asked Papa Lutumba to be president of the group for which he initially refused but after some days he accepted the offer.
He also says in these situations, it shows how loyal Vieux Josky was to his "elder brother" Simaro but somehow that loyalty was not reciprocated to Vieux Josky at some point. He further says every person has their good and bad side and that he experienced the bad side of Vieux Simaro who refused when a certain donor wanted to buy cars for five artistes including Serge who was also to receive a car but that when Ppa Lutumba was told about it, he refused saying they would become big-headed and leave if they get those cars. Thats how they lost out of those free car gifts.
He says he was only able to play for the first time in the album Ingratitude.

Congolese Music / DOES THIS HAPPEN IN KIN GROUPS?
« on: February 17, 2021, 10:35 »
I was watching this interview of Severino ex Watikanya, ex Z1 International and now with Extra Musica Zangul. Starting at 16:30 minutes he says he had left Z1 International because Durell Loemba would ask him to share the mabanga monies that he would get from fans while singing on stage during concerts saying that since the songs he was interpreting was composed by Durell that means that he is entitled to part of the mabanga monies.... He also mentions about the time he spent with Fondation Watikanya group were he says alongwe group wana because the manager Bernabe Etouka (Bebert Etou) of the group started wanting to become a musician by participating in songs and dance. Lol

Congolese Music / LES JOUR LE PLUS LONG ALBUM
« on: August 10, 2020, 20:22 »
Such a great album with a banger of a generique and am not a big fan of generiques but these kinds of generiques you cant ignore. If we compare the debarquement generique with the generiques we getting nowadays it says a lot about how the standards of the genre have fallen. So Apocalypse at some point joined Victoria Eleison or am i hearing correctly? Who is the other atalaku?

Was it recorded in France and which members of the dream team dream band were still left in the group by the time it came out apart from Pianiste Passy Ngiangy?

I did the english translation basically because of the dialogue that Charly Solo does in the song with a lady (who i think should be Leticia Melody the lady who sings in a number of Ferre songs) starting at minute 4:07. Bolimbisa ngai some french text may not be correct but i did the best i could. Am teaching myself french malembe malembe, nakokoma.

This is one song from the QQJD album which deserved a clip because not only is it a good rumba but it is also very educative in a time when every artist seems to think that only "na lingi yo, na lingi yo" songs have success. This is a love song but not in a simple way, it tries to delve into the thinking of most married men even as they get side chicks they have great respect for their wives that they would not easily leave their house wife for a side chick unless in rare circumstances. We men cheat yes but at the end of the day we realize a wife is a wife and deserves respect especially if there are kids involved.

Here is the full text and the translation thereof.

Artist: Ferre Gola
Title: Kinshasa
Album: QQJD vol 1
Year: 2017

[Intro]
Té, Adolphe Muteba té
No, Adolphe Muteba no

Claire you came into my life to mess it up
Since you you came into my love life, my marriage got messed up
You knew too well that I had a wife at home
You did everything to trouble my home
We agreed you and I, that you are simply my lover
How come you want to compare yourself to my wife, the mother of my children
No, my house wife no, not her.

[Verse 2: Ferré Gola]
Okomi kopanza ngai sango par ci par là
Boni olingi o bebisela ngai réputation
Na profil na yo na WhatsApp otia elongi na ngai
Ba publication nyoso, kaka ba photos na ngai
Eh yaya eh

You started saying things here and there
Why do you want to ruin my reputation?
On your whatsapp profile you put my face
All your statuses are just about my photos
Eh yaya eh

[Verse 3: Tshiko Tractuer]

Claire you came into my life to mess it up
Since you came into my love life, my marriage got messed up
You knew too well that I had a wife at home
You did everything to trouble my home

There is no love (relationship) were there are no problems
Fighting and struggling is a reality in love relationships
I have suffered a lot for this relationship, don’t think you will get (by force) my wife’s seat

[Verse 5: Ferré Gola]
Ba loba mpeté na mosapi eza assurance té
Oy'a ngai na chérié tolata ba mpeté na motema, okokota té

They say a ring on a finger is not assurance
The one for me and my dear (wife) we wore a ring in the heart, you won’t enter

[Chorus]

Lotula be careful, the man you are looking at is taken (occupied)
Everything he said is a lie, he is married
Don’t startle, wake up from sleep for she is mine

Oooooh

Clair be careful, the man you are looking at is taken (occupied)
Everything he said is a lie, he is married
Don’t startle, wake up from sleep for she is mine

[Choir]

You knew very well that he was someone’s husband
Your neighbors forbade you; leave him, you refused
The man stopped (threw away) the fast life
You will waste time with someone’s husband, look for one of your own
The man stopped (threw away) the fast life

[Verse 6: Ferré Gola]
Bino basi ya mikol'oyo boyokaka soni té
Slogan ya lelo: mobali ya moninga aza té

You ladies of nowadays you don’t feel ashamed
Your slogan nowadays: there is no such thing as someone’s husband
You see you have ended up just envying your friends husbands
You don’t feel ashamed, he has gone back to his house wife

[Choir]

You knew very well that he was someone’s husband
Your neighbors forbade you; leave him, you refused
The man stopped (threw away) the fast life
You will waste time with someone’s husband, look for one of your own
The man stopped (threw away) the fast life

[Dialogue between Charly Solo and a Lady]

In fact mama, I don’t understand even a bit, what did you say?

Lady: Eh papa naza na pasi, mobali abotisi ngai asundoli ngai na muana ata awa nazo telema nakoyeba lisusu nakosala te
Eh Papa am in pain, the man I have a child with has abandoned me and the child even here were am standing I don’t know what else to do

Charly Solo: Ah bon, trepika maa…makambo
Ah ok, explain the issues

Lady: Ewumeli
It’s a long story

In fact that man was he really your husband or he was just a random guy

Eh Papa is there such a thing as someone’s husband in Kinshasa?

Charly Solo: Ah ah bon, donc mobali ya motu azala te ca veut dire quoi, azalaki mobali moko boye donc
Ah ok, so that was not someone’s what does it mean, he was just a man like this so…

Lady: Nakutani naye na nzela a sedure ngai nasepeli naye aza penza a bozwi naye a prefer nabota naye
I met him on the road he seduced me and I liked him to be in a relationship with, he preferred that I have a child with him

Charly Solo:  Ahh te, mais cest pas possible, donc mobali okutani naye na bala bala epuis voila, ahh bomemani mbala moko epuis eh donc alingi lisusu te ko comprendre suite meme pas yayo epuis meme pas ya muana
Ah no, but it’s not possible, so you meet  a man on the streets then that’s it, you took each other first time then eh so he no longer understands your issue and that of your child

Lady: Papa nayebike soit disant abala
Papa I knew that he was supposedly married

Charly Solo: Ah bon, abala sikoyo ca veut dire quoi, sikoyo ozwimela decision nini?
Ah ok, he is married now, what does that mean, what decision have you made?

Lady: Probleme na ngai ezali ke asundoli muana, nakosala nini?
My problem is that he has abandoned the child, what will I do?

Ahh but really frankly it’s not easy

[Someone speaking in a different language not lingala]

Charly Solo:
Ah donc muana mwasi soki nakolimbola yo na Lingala, soki deja esi omoni mobali oyo esi alati lopete, komeka kolinga ye te parce que esi abali deja
Ah so you females if I can explain to you in Lingala, if you already see a man wearing a ring, don’t try to like him because he is already married

[Ferre Gola]
Couple Shabani Record

[Choir]
You will waste time with someone’s husband, look for one of your own
The man stopped (threw away) the fast life

This is one among a number of other interviews were i have seen him refuse to answer questions related to anything to do with Koffi. I havent watched the whole clip but he seems not happy that the journalist is insisting on him saying something in relation to Koffi's U Arena Concert next year.

Man has played in almost all the bands except Extra Musica up until now. What happened to the G7 band, I remember 1998-2000 they also came on the scene with force but disappeared as soon as they came. Any notable members still active apart from Bondo Mania?

What happened to his Nouvelle Image? It looked promising especially that guy doing the animation with long hair.

My favourite track from the Tapis Rouge album. That interchange starting at minute 4:49 with Papy Bastin shouting "oyoki Bondo mania?" Beautiful rumba. Was Papy Bastin the author/composer of Sans Hypocrisie?

He also participated to the Generation Univesal album pyramide. How come, Kerson Saddam wasn't credited a song in the album despite appearing here on the generique as one of the leaders alongside Rossen Yaourt, Yellowman and Typhoide?

Maman Congo is a beautiful rumba Rossen Monstre. Claudia Sassou is also like Tabou Fatou with when it comes to musicians composing beautiful rumbas to her name.

Syvain Mambo is another nice track from the album. Its sad that if you are not a big name in the two Congos, no matter how much your music is it will just be listened within the countries borders.
