Congolese Music / WHY IS THERE NO CLIP FOR THIS GENERIQUE?
« on: May 15, 2020, 14:53 »
When i play this generique it goes on repeat. Arafat was at his best here. Did he leave just after the La Main Noire album was released as that would explain why there was no clip for this song?
Who does he refer to in the intro when he says "bino ba leki oyo ngai nalakisa nzela, bokoma kofinga ngai yaya na bino mais nzambe azomona?" (translated as: "you young ones whom i showed the way, you have started insulting me but God is watching".

Congolese Music / WHERE IS CAFE ROUM?
« on: May 12, 2020, 16:27 »
I have noticed in the last two videos of Maison Mere, this live and the other one where as a group they had a meeting Cafe Roum is absent. Has he left or suspended? I also notice the absence of Djenny Atula. Even his vocal in Machine A Voter song was sung by that guy who sings like Taddet De Monticule. This live leaves much to be desired sound wise in some parts there are echos worse on the Augustine song the echo continues and at some poinnt the whole sound is lost.

Lol. So Nicodem is muluba but cant express himself in his mother toungue?

Congolese Music / Le Vainqueur Des Dangers
« on: March 27, 2020, 15:35 »
I listen to this album repeatedly. No favourites but Willy Blanchard is my favourites' favourite (if there is anything like that) Lol.

I have some questions about Willy Star.

1. Is this the same Willy Star who is said to have fathered a child with Fifi Mama Ministre? Coz i hear the Papa Na ChrisCross chant.

2.  If he is, then what was his piret petit about with Papa Cheri, was he one of the his private song writers?

3. He is a good singer, why then wasnt he a musician in BCBG since he was a piret petit of the leader?

4. Was this vocal "Nazalaki na ngai epai ya piret vieux Jose Ndomba, nazalaki epai ya piret vieux na ngai Oguy Kafuba. Kokamwa te soki lelo bomoni ngai epai ya Blaise Bula, ezali mingi pona koluka vie na ngai ekoma stable. Naboyi vie ya ki piret petit..." in the song Willy Blanchard aimed at Papa Cheri?

5. Did they fall out (Willy Star and Papa Cheri)?

He says he has been around Roga Roga as his young man from way back before Roga Roga even thought of becoming a musician and that he first learned how to play the guitar from the same person who taught Roga, Espe Bass and Durell Loemba. He also talks about their incoming concerts in Brazza and Ivory Coast. Also talks about what made them leave. He says Roga stopped respecting them musicians to  the point where at one rehearsal, he would be tellling them that 'if you want to leave, leave as he cared less". He adds that one of the last concerts they had in Point Noire, at the end of the concert when paying them their dues, Roga was throwing the monies (never mind that the money is chump change of the contract) in their faces without consideration of the dignity of a person. He says that kind of treatment is what really pushed them to leave. The last straw obviously came when Roga said no one will put mabanga in the coming album.

He ends by saying he still respects Roga as his grand frere but Congo Brazza will see "battle for supremacy" musically that has never been seen before.

I notice that most Nouvelle Horizon clips and rehearsal clips are posted on Levyson's channel, i foresee a situation where Levsyson will start claiming ki leadership of the group leading to friction. I think they should have opened an official group channel.

Yo tata oyo oko changer mbula nini, okoyoka eloko. Tension!!

Ebeba, ebeba kaka.

Whats the real story that made the featuring between the two not to materialise. @ minute 50 upwards Bozi says they had recorded a song featuring Ferre but that they couldnt shoot a clip because Ferre kept postponing the days that they'd agreed to film the clip. Goes on to say a featuring doesn't mean the one being featured is giving the one who wants a feature more buzz. Then does the usual praise of Ferre's rival Le King.  ;D

Whats the other side of this apparent fall out between the Bozi and Ferre @Archos and @Pole Position.

Congolese Music / ANTI TERRO ALBUM HAD SOME NICE SEBENES SONG
« on: November 27, 2019, 13:41 »
My favourite among them is Decision. Been recently listening to it a lot. Ya Fifi was on fire here that transition at 6:24 minutes, wow. Such songs gives hope that Balle De Match may just be worth the long wait that we been subjected to by Marshal Mukulu.

Amour sans tacher is another good song. Chai Ngenge was on top of his vocal capability.

Did Sunda Bass play solo guitar here or or the main solistes did?

JDL's song was also danceable.

Honourable mentions is the song "temperature".

Congolese Music / PAPA WEMBA ET ALPA TSHINO - BOKABUANI
« on: October 31, 2019, 13:59 »
Beautiful and very relatable track. Shows how much children suffer whenever parents' marriage ends in divorce or separation. Been listening to this track recently. I wish we could have more of such songs with a very powerful message. I did the translation for the song. I however, struggled to put together the translation for the last verse because some of the text is in french. Oh and i also don't know the guy who does the vocal for the same last verse. I hope bro @Archos or anyone else can assist.

I fell in love with this first time i heard it. Lovely traditional song with modern sounds. "Avec tout l'inspiration de Soliste diablo junior Kamo (sp)". No wonder Bill Clinton has a rich resume of chants/cries. Heritage!

Reminds me of the Tshala Muana Menteurs album. The soliste here had fun with guitar.

Where can i get this whole album?

I laughed at minute 9:45 when introducing Zeka Luzeka (Pretre ya forme), he jokingly says when coming for the tv interview he asked his entourage not to dress better than him. Then he tells a story that he had a friend who never liked anyone to dress better than him. He says whenever they agreed to go out together, when this friend comes out and sees how everyone is dressed better than him, he would give an excuse that he has developed a stomach ache so he cant go with them "Nazoyoka libumu pasi, libumu ezoleka".

This name though "Lady Miyembe" for a guy? ;D
