I am preparring something for my own artistico project and for this I have to review/study a lot of Congolese music and the first group I have studied Is Zaiko for obvious reasons, besides Franco and Tabù Ley I don't think that there Is a group who influenced Congolese musicians like Zaiko, even Koffi, Werra and many others BCBG too a lot have take their dances or cries with that said, why do young people like Vanguerard, the Bassist who Is now Is on Heritier if I am not mistaken, Lola Muana Who left the guigarist Who player in 19 Minutes De Ngwasuma join Zaiko? To take the msot recente example Vanguerard the guy with a weird voice Who dances really well, could.have gine ti BCBG, QL, or even Maison Mere since he has good dancing skills but why have he chosed Zaiko instead? To me that's weird being young (now he might be in his 40s or even 50s but he was young when he joined Zaiko) and joinikg Zaiko when there are a lot of banda available. Fondation Empire was so lucky man. Papa Wemba being arrested for the ngulu-affair and them arriving the next day. It's a shame that their tour was a big flop and the whole band including the leader ending up by staying in Europe. Their were some short extracts of their concert at Cabaret Sauvage on youtube, but theyr dissapeard. But if Dominique Mabwa traveled with them. How did he end up in Kinshasa ? Was he deported ? Because he suffers alot in Kinshasa, every two years there something with him on youtube.
About Simolo lying, most musicians are always like that. Because in other interviews he never said that Tolin brought them to Quartier Latin and when Tolin exposed him, he changed his version. But I don't see why Ado Yuhe makes a big deal about Simolo being a mbonda player. Some drummers in 80s used to play both rols playing mbonda and drums. But if I remember well, Nseka once said that when he joined, that he replaced Simolo as mbonda-player when leaving Dynamique Asha. About Quartier Latin of that era, I only knew the late Yoto Nkelani "Delta Force" who used the play lead, Do Akongo and Fofo le Collegien. Because of their career in other bands and Yoto being from Lemba. I never noticed Simolo, I started to know Simolo only when he replaced Awilo in Nouvelle Generation as drummer. Only years later I discovered that he used to play in Maray Maray's Rumba Ray as mbonda player.
