Congolese Music / MONDE ARABE VS BORD EZANGA KOMBO
« on: December 13, 2019, 22:34 »

Better songs ?
Better arrangements ?
Better choir ?
Better rhumbas ?
Better seben ?
Better hype ?
Better vocals ?
Let me know.

Personally, i realised 7 months ago during my paris-nyc trip, that i prefer bek (after 11 years lol).
I downloaded both albums on tidal for the trip
and I always like monde arabe but there are a lot of low points : veeeeery average sebenes (except respect), one of the first koffi’s album (i been on koffi’s discographiy since les prisonniers dorment, the ones before I juste know some songs) with fillers like ngouli, sexy pop, bye bye, & rouge à lèvres, and i remember, I was disappointed by bouro, lola & deo’s departure (even michaux),
the arrangements, acide (weakest atalaku of qli from 1990-2007) but there are some highlights (aubergine, pomme verte, cnn, apoca, eputsha, silivi & riziki, junior ect).
But in 2008 i didnt realy paid attention of bek because i was like « no fally? No soleil? No bouro? No ferre? Cindy? Mineurs? F*** it, im out » so except bb gout, l’eau l’eau l’eau, ikia, soupou & cle boa i didnt reaaaaly know about that album i was surprised!
Arrangement ? Top notch, rhumbas ? 10/10, choirs ? Amazing
The only problem is the team. Exept cindy’s perf, the 2nd vocals in bb gout & zoe bella’s in bomengo, all the others sounds sooooooo amateur especially in salopette & ikia (with the fake mirage lol).
But the album is very dope so I was like (wait a min.... Do I really prefer bek?)

If koffi didd’t play the « divide & rule » with his musicians in 2005-2006, bek could be even greater.
So monde arabe & bek? Let me know

From 38:30 to 39 min

I swear they should make a movie about « what happened in the europeen tour 98 of quartier latin ?» or « how academia was made? » everytime we learn new things

« on: August 10, 2018, 23:04 »
Hello guys,
Hope y’all are doing well.
Waiting for that new ql album,
I would like to make that topic to share you my top 10 rumbas & generics in ql albums (not koffi’s). If you got one, please share it but here the condition : only rumbas, not rumbas+sebene.
Here’s mine :

1. Detresse - Didace le prof (Magie)
2. Sens inverse - Do akongo (Droit de veto)
3. Inchallah - Fofo le collegien (Affaire d’etat)
4. Ko ko ko ko - Fally ipupa (Affaire d’etat)
5. Dulcinée - Eric tutsi (Force de frappe)
6. Divisé par deux - Shella mputu (Danger de mort)
7. Calvaire - Bouro mpela (Affaire d’etat)
8. Fois cent - Do akongo (Ultimatum)
9. Incecticide - Ferre gola (Danger de mort)
10. Ba lobiens - Gypson butukondolo (Danger de mort)

I also done a top 10 generics From « pas de faux pas » to « danger de mort »

1. Piwawa - Koffi olomide (Affaire d’etat)
2. Rond point -Koffi olomide (Droit de veto)
3. Code pin - Brigade (Affaire d’etat)
4. Magie - Koffi olomide (Magie)
5. Force de frappe - Koffi olomide (Force de frappe)
6. Etage ya suka - Jean-Louis manzugidi (Pas de faux pas)
7. Ultimatum - Koffi olomide (Ultimatum)
8. Mbirime - Dolce parabolique & Baron Manoka (Ultimatum)
9. Droit de veto - Koffi olomide (Droit de veto)
10. Danger de mort - Koffi olomide (Danger de mort)

If danger de mort generic would be good as skol longitima, it would be top 3.

Congolese Music / Sanction Vs Viagra
« on: May 13, 2018, 00:04 »
Hi guys, hope y’all doing well
I know there is a thread in 2k13 about this, but there weren’t a lot of views & recently i listened to both albums & even i was a little boy when those cd’s came out, i remember the hype & the quality.

I believe that sanction is an amazing cd, great rhumbas, heavy sebens, 3 great singers, 2 dope atalakus, with lebou, pathy, mike evian & djudju chet.
I think that album is like a « droit de veto 2 » & it’s sounds great.
But the difference between viagra & sanction, is the fact that sanction is so a « ex quartier latin musicians » album & viagra is like a normal groupe, like bcbg, maison mere, quartier latin, zaiko (figure they removed « quartier latin » on the cover).
Viagra introduced new signers like abel benz, tonton lay (wich did great vocals on the album), eric menth; the arrival of beniko popolipo (the autor of ezala zala, one of my favorite song on the lp), suzuki, tshetshe deballe, mustapha, clovis silawuka, pitchou concorde & blanchard (im not sure, correct me if i’m wrong).
Sometimes I imagine how it could be with bouro mpela wich participated on the early recording but at the same time, his return in ql for effrakata was a blessing.

(In 40:35 a snippet of collation)

Except sam’s abusive mabanga (wich is sometimes annoying), viagra is a great cd, they sound more experienced, there sound more independent (of the image of « old koffi’s musicians ») & the arrangements are great, but the hunger they had in sanction hmmm... i dont know wich album i prefere.
What about y’all?

Ps : viagra hightlights are ezala zala, the fact that there is suzuki, kimpwaka (heavy), chico (surprising from dolce parabolique), zabalumbu (best track on the album), jules bm (best modogo’s song he ever done in my opinion)
Ps 2 : even bouro mpela is my favorite artist in the quartier latin’s camp, his song « da silva » in santion was wack
Ps 3 : I think if there weren’t no leadership problems, the group would remain longer, beceause the quality was there
