no it was guy bayaya he played rhythm as always,he only was a full time soloist in the street groups, like one he was in with one of koffi's cousins
then from his time in maison mere he went to rhythm to try to find a spot and never made the switch back

Does Reddy still have a band or does he only work with session musicians? He won't sell as many albums if he can't tour with a band and promote the album, idk what's the strategy or if music is just a hobby for him.

Is my man serious?! How do you go from a half-filled Zenith to U Arena? And he wants to do Madison Square Garden, he's really reaching.
Zenith wasn’t even half filled loool it was barely a quarter looool

Today, musicians have it backwards. They want "plein na plein" but they don't make the kind of music that excites people from all over to descend to Zenith, Bercy, or Stade de Martyr in record numbers.

Wazekwa needs to give his artists space at rehearsals. Don't write songs for them, let the singers shop for songs and revise the lyrics to better develop their own songwriting abilities.

For the generiques, let the guitarists create the aggressive sebenes we missed from the era of Hono Kapanga and Pitchou Concorde. There's too much choreography, but not enough memorable cries or vocals on rumbas.

Wazekwa isn't preparing Eclipse well to take over Cultura, it's showing. There's no stars in the group and every decision made seems out of desperation

Lol. Madison Square Garden doesnt even have 30k seats, what is he talking about? For a guy that been relegated to making generiques with over complicated dances he's talking real slick these days

Madison Square Garden has a flat fee of 500k to rent their hall, but it's really the complimentary fees that adds up the cost. The hall seats 18,000+ people and they require musicians to purchase public liability insurance in addition to providing their own security service.

In addition, the venue reserves the right to cancel a booking at any point for no refund, that's why it's often difficult for artists to secure a concert at their hall. They're notorious for making musicians bleed money at no guarantee of performing in their hall, especially non-White musicians. There's been several racial discrimination complaints against the venue for cultural bias in booking.

Personally, Wazekwa is better off performing at the Apollo or mid range theater in America. Don't spend all that money for mpiaka, just because it's a prestigious hall. You know how the media is, they'll make jokes for months at his expense

he says he is back to congo to promote his album which he'll put a bit on hold with the afcon and DRC participating and so far he's happy with the feedback, and that he's told the band he brought to europe to stay there so that he can  perform with them if he struggles for visas and he is happy that some of them already cemented 10 years papers so they will be able to come and go back with him
he is asked about paying musicians he says he is a honest guy and for him he cant pretend that he really does whats called paying an employee all year long but as soon as they perform they share the money straight before the end of concert,he is not rich enough yet to pay them no matter what for a whole year but he does his best to help them when they have problems
i am so happy for him,my man went to some high level humiliation luckly for him he was not yet in conflict with fabro or the way warriors operate nowadays, they'd have exposed him for his struggles, man literally had to live at some point on a bench in a bar because they had stolen him 80k he was saving for years to buy a big landplot and was not able to afford rent for a while because he was not performing and donors had turned their back on him since he was not on the spotlight
papy asked him about his reaction to fabro's interview and he says that a lot of people friends, family, fans, donors, musicians like celeo for example called him to urge him to make peace with fabro and he accepts but he wants to make it clear once again that it was not him who started any beef and that the reason why he blocked then completely erased fabro from his phone was that his closer jester insulted his son brandy who at some point was dyslexic,he could not care less about somebody insulting him over his music or his looks or whatever but children was way too far so he straight away removed fabro from his voice to avoid even thinking about talking to him because he would have gone far aswell to pay back, and now that jester has fallen out with fabro and tried to come on his side and he told him to jog on and that he is not the type  to welcome somebody just to be petty and serve some revenge and that all those who insulted him in the name of fabro who he knows should not think they are part of the peace he is making with fabro they should stay in their lane and learn that as grown men you should not get too involved in other grown men's business
about fabro he says that they were like brothers,to the extent that when they just started in maison mere and did not have anything yet they could go as far as passing to each other either of them's underwear they received from somebody coming from europe
and that he never wanted it to reach such level in the first place but as soon as the line was crossed with the attack towards his son  he had to stand
Deplik should forgive Fabro but don't be too quick to be close buddies with him because you're forgetting the lesson as to why things fell apart in the first place – Fabro's jealousy and egotism.

Just look at Wazekwa and Wemba. Each time they tried to forgive Koffi and forget about his egotism, a situation revives Koffi's bad habits and then the cold war resumes. When Wemba put his foot down and put a permanent distance between himself and Koffi, things calmed down for him in terms of polemique.

As for Wazekwa, I do believe it's maintaining that closeness with Koffi and his brothers that collectively changed him from the humble Wazekwa we once knew to what we have recently.

I know you're happy to see more unity with the younger generation of artist, but I feel like they're not genuine since one side actually makes an effort.  What has Fabro done to address his well known character defects that caused their fallout years ago? I'll wait...he treats his band like shit, he a narcissist in media, and I could go on.

Waste of time in my opinion….female atalaku are limited

That female atalaku of Koffi had something special, I forgot her name. It's just that she wasn't professional and got pregnant by another member of QL

If you had to guess, who do you think will make it to the European tour and who do you think will run away?

Also, has there ever been a group that toured in Europe and everyone came back to Congo?
Showme, rodal sensebene,vegeta,musabu,3jours and the former heritier dancer

you take v12 you add loi's sebenes and generiques instead of beevans rappa's parts you have a very very very difficult album to beat

Did Beevan Rappa not have enough time to find cries for V12, because he sounded like he was improvising. His animation was less cohesive, just a bit of cries from Wenge Musica's Pentagone and a lot of belting. I heard he tried his luck at Cultura in the late 90s...

lol i hope for him that it wont be as rude as the 12 on adada because of merveille, man sold all his house fourniture and gave clothes to family and friend only to be told at airport by their young brother fabro's brother yves who is the secretary "where are you going" yo oza na liste te

I'm surprised 3 Jours left in the first place, you know how many atalakus have attempted solo careers to no success? And I'm sure Fabro will bring him to Europe for concerts because his animation section is looking really weak lately
I mean, being humiliated, not being paid, being given limited space on a song and then no space when Showme came, why would have he stayed?

Only to come back, because solo career is very difficult to get started

number 2 of zangul is fiston boko who joined from maison mere back in 2001/2002 and had been loyal with all the splits
yeah i fully agree with you, they wanted to do the modern thing of every of them having their passport with one year of visa in their hands, who in his right state of mind as somebody who just saw "europe paradise" against all odds will have visa in their hands and say no no work first as much as it was a good thing it also damaged the group,
the guys returned to brazza then all of them went to paris again on their own, first time ever i think musicians leave like that having gone back to europe with their passport with visa  thats like fabregas did but 4 people at the same time
people had got used to the team of vision now they have had to completely renew the lineup around bastin dido dodi le talent and those guys(mogrosso, anouckha, poutine, nouzabraham)need time to build into the shoes of those who left including levyson but they dont have time for the good of the group they have to grow fast to get nh back to a fully charismatic lineup

Fiston Boko was in Maison Mere?! I actually understand why it didn't work out for him, because everyone's place was cemented since Solola Bien – he had an advantage on Adjani and Aimelia when it came to dancing (that's it).

Taka benefited from being Bill's friend and entering the group as a dancer first, then exploited the Les Marquis situation to graduate into singing. If I'm not mistaken, Prince d'Angola did the same thing...

Congolese Music / Re: BOURO MPELA HAS WON HIS SPOT OF DEPUTY
« on: January 06, 2024, 17:48 »
Is it possible to balance music and politics?

I think so, he can limit concerts to two or three per month and still carry out his duties. You know with positions like these, there's a staff that does most of the work – he's just there to give authorization via signature, speak to press, or take meetings with important clientele.

43
yes they probably teamed up with those who left extra musica zangul in the two tours of the recent years(the one before nh was created and the one after)

So whose "number two" in Zangul right now? I remember Levyson used to be that role publicly.

Also, I think NH should have done that system Zangul did for Papy Jah and Bastin back in 1998. They could have joined them to record Etat Major, but they had to wait. Maybe Sonor and Rama let those guys Willo, Bonbon Rouge, and FBI tour abroad too early in their career.

At the same time, how do you really tell who will return or run away from a European tour? But that question I'm sure you'll answer in that thread you're working on, thanks as always and Happy New Year's to everyone!!!

Congolese Music / Re: BRIGADE THREATENS TO TAKE WERRA TO COURT
« on: January 05, 2024, 20:36 »
CNN spoke about this in his interview with Ado Yuhe, how is it only now Brigade found out he isn’t credited? Atalakus aren't credited for their work. For example guys like Mboshi and Somono realistically could be millionaires off of royalties by Loi alone with how many times that’s been played, sampled etc. The music industry is a dirty business especially Congolese genre.

If the lawsuit is successful, does that open the doors for musicians to collect payments from their songs from group albums ?

After more than a decade of beef

Was the years long beef really due to leadership wars for Delta Force or did it eventually pass over, but they never got around to talking until now? I don't think they were mad at each other for decades long
