Maybe they want to show that they are the real Extra Musica, like the way Zaiko Familia Dei with Ilo Pablo, Djerba Manzeku, Beniko Popolipo, Petit Poisson, Jimmy Yaba & Jose Piano Piano who made the Zaiko-rthym of 1982-1988. Claiming that they fired Nyoka Longo and that they were the real Zaiko. But they ended up by losing after multiple problems and leadership-wars and Zaiko winning. The Zaiko of Nyoka Longo developed their way of playing sebene by recruiting Shiro Vuemba who also entered the distortion sebene and adopting animations of Boketshu 1er who used to make folklore of the Mongo-tribe, while before 1988 when were mostly doing animations of the Humbu-tribe. Until this day Zaiko Nkolo Mbokonever changed the sebene-style that they started to play in the 1988-1992 era, only the animation who went more in the way of the Kongo-tribe folklore.

The difference of Extra Musica Zangul & Extra Musica Nouvel Horizon war about the is that, Sonor Digital didn't create the Extra Musica-rhythm. It was Roga Roga, Durell Loemba & Espe Bass and Sonor Digital being their understudy. Sonor Digital just need to create another style as guitarist to show his artistic maturity, otherwise he will stay in Roga Roga's shadow.

I suspect that Sonor is good guitarist, but not creative rhythm player. You'll notice a significant difference when Durrell used to play rhythm and when Sonor took over. It's like how Felly Tyson gets so much credit as a guitarist, but Ramazani and Lebou Kabuya are much more creative soloist.

@Mfumu Vata

After Long Histoire, was Kester able to put out another popular album or did people consider him finished? If he hadn't died, do you think he could recover his career?

They need the change their rhythm like the way Victoria Eleison & Nouvelle Generation did when they left Viva La Musica.

Why do you think Extra Musica NH doesn't change their rhythm?

I could never play music like this in front of my parents, fuckinf disgusting...people have no respect these days.

Koffi was not the first Congolese artist to have more than 10 singers in his band, that already started in Viva La Musica, Zaiko and TPOK Jazz. But about singing in an album yes. Attentat had just 10 singers (Babia, Eric Tutsi, Depitcho, Mamale, Fally Ipupa, Soleil, Spino, Jipson, Mustapha & Lola Muana) who were all in South Africa, Koffi credited Jordan Kusa, JF Ifonge, Alain Kabobo "aka' Sarbinto Batracien" and Chikito Mutakatif but they didn't participate.

In Congolese music they were first only using 4 mics and sometimes 5 (which was the leader + 4 singers formula and Langa Langa Stars also used 5 mics). Koffi came from 1994/95 with the formula of 6 mics in Kinshasa concerts (using only 4 in Europe tours until 1997). Then in 1999, Papa Wemba came with the 8 mics formula with Nouvelle Ecriture at Zenith when Alpatshino & Bogus Bompema came in. Koffi then followed it at Bercy using it until 2006 for Europe-tours.

Which era was the most difficult to join QL? I feel like the second generation of QL was stiff competition, because there's a lot of singers that didn't make the cut and we don't even know their names like 38 minutes and onward

Ah oui oui voila ndeko i now get back images of the boat concert of brussels,indeed he was already sick in the wenge split days and recovered then had setback in europe and like you said,if i remember well he had to go through MCT guys and things like that,because jb (and werra) when the split happen and they took full "crown of chief" had guys around them who were giving ideology "yo oza chef chef bakutanaka na ye pamba pamba te tika biso to gerer tokomemela yo rapport"
the kassav guy is patrick saint eloi i think

Patient Kusanguila played bass on Eloi's 1998 album Lovtans

Congolese Music / Can Someone Please Explain...
« on: September 30, 2020, 13:30 »
One of my favorite rhumbas of all time, I love the female vocals throughout the refrain and the delectable solo at the end. Waney Pecho always found a way to sneak in Portuguese in his vocals, especially at 4:25 mark!

Can someone translate the lyrics? Although Patrouille des Star were sebene heavy on albums, their rhumbas were among their best compositions

Hopefully, the government doesn't bring harm to him

Congolese Music / Re: WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE HERE?
« on: September 25, 2020, 13:51 »
It doesn't sound Congolese, must be something from west-africa. Animating in foreign languages was a trend since Kibuisa Mpimpa, Bill Clinton animating some parts in a Northern Cameroon dialect (but years claiming that it was Wolof) and also animating in foreign language in Madame la Torture when he was in Les Marquis, Kerozene animating in Zulu in Effrakata and in Malinke in Affaire d'Etat, etc.

What part was Zulu in Effrakata?

@Mfumu Vata

If Felix Wazekwa gave more space on Signature and subsequent albums to singers of Cultura, maybe he could be better respected for his rhumbas. Joss Diena and Rippason literally carried Wazekwa on their backs for three albums, from choruses to vocals.

Congolese Music / Re: Extra Musica - Live Session (part one)

I only like the last part when Roga Roga is playing guitar and dancing with Espe Bass, espcially the part of Shalai and Succes Extra. (1:03:03).

The chorus is good, but you can tell these singers aren't as charismatic as Extra Musica Nouveau Horizon. Ah, Waney Pecho...still can't believe he's gone! He was gonna have a second chance at a good career

i had not given a proper fully focused look to the video and mannnn i feel like crying,what a brutal downfall,even every second of when he talks sounds strange thats not his voice,he used to be trained to be like babia's ready made replacement so he ended up adopting that cocky style of talking babia had here i just see a completely lost man  :( :(

Is it drugs or did he lose his mind? Sometimes people have mental illness, but our culture stigmatizes it so people don't get help

Cindy must've really had Koffi wrapped around her finger for him to cancel an entire tour because she had no visa. It's like making plans with your entire family, only to drop them at the last minute because of one relative who objected to the plans or didn't want to go.

Her punani has some serious ndoki, cause Koffi ain't been the same since she's been around lol
