I didn't know he could play any instrument

November '01 was the moment that Lebou decided to officaly leave Academia and start his solo career. The Volte Face single came out in Spring 2002.

. Gessac didn't bullied him out the group, because they didn't had a problem. CNN actually benefited from Wazekwa, a trip to Europe along with Mamale, Biva Rai and some others. CNN just used Wazekwa like Mamale to come back in Europe. Mamale after it tried to join Wenge BCBG, but it didn't work. CNN then stayed and was contacted some weeks later contacted by Lebou Kabuya who's from the same area like him, to work on the Volte Face project along with Silawuka Nguma, Bob Lorenzo, Biva Rai and co. like a nzong nzing, then Lebou went to Kinshasa to recruit musicians (Mirage, Chaleur and co), CNN & Pathy Bass having role as co-founders compared to musicians who partipacted as session musicians in Europe. But things didnt work out, so CNN went to join Wenge BCBG.

Mamale would have best benefited from Cultura, because BCBG had too many established members. Why was BCBG so preferable to him over Cultura if it's because of Wazekwa that he returned to Europe?

Congolese Music / Re: Anyone knows this atalaku?

First animation was done by Denison Lutula and second by Antonio Sampaio. The same for Mademoiselle & Anga Michel. Ngonda Son only animated in Mobeti Mbonda.e

I think its both age & whiskey. He used to animate for Damien Aziwa along with Celluraire.

Thank you so much!

I disagree, the Congolese diaspora in America doesn't promote their artist with the same fervor as other Africans in America.

Congolese Music / Anyone knows this atalaku?
« on: June 29, 2020, 01:07 »

Is the atalaku the same guy @6:40? His voice sounds really changed! Either he was a teenager when he first starting animation or that whiskey deepened his voice lmao

i think in reality adolphe joining maison mere was not "too natural" friendship wise, adolphe was by far closer to jb since they were friends since 1971 or so just like blaise and makaba were closer to jb naturally but he activated ruthless leadership plan
except from jb werra did not have a very very close friend among the singers which is why when the split happened he wanted alain mpela along with ferre so bad to have somebody he likes and trusts, not that he hated tata but they were not super super friends
and part of what tata endured to be fair,he indirectly put himself in that situation,in the last year of wenge he started suddenly calling  werra "vieux na nga" and giving werra "too much respect" which weakened him already in terms of leadership(the same would happen with blaise bula mentioning every jb nickname like he is jdl lol)
What goes over most people's head is that Adolphe barely participated in Feux de L'amour, he only had one vocal but the focus was more on Werra barely participating either by only having two vocals.

Nice memory, ndeko! Werrason had a short vocals on Top Modele and Masuwa, with Tata singing only on Masuwa.

Mustapha, Silawula, Abel Benz hadn’t papers so they could not return. Beniko was not an official member was just there to help them and participate in all concerts that would be performed in Europe. When Academia returned in 2001, Somono explained in a press-conference that Beniko was waiting to get papers and get his wife and children in Europe, doing session work to survive. I don’t know if they would take the whole group, but i’m sure that they would get the atalaku “petit molangwa” the guy who animated in 4 Coins Kandala and the guy that replaced Tshe Tshe le Ball on the drums and Rocky Blanchard.

Was 4 Coins Kandala successful? I never hear much about that album like Sanction and Viagra. I guess it flopped because Academia split for good afterwards with Mboshi returning to QL and so forth.

JF wanted to beat Koffi at Boliston because he said that his mother was a slave (JF’s mom is from the French West-Indies) and other stuff. He also wanted to beat Koffi at Oshwe during a rehearsal and Fally, Jordan, CNN looking like wtf is going on, until that the bodyguards intervented.(I think that it was when Koffi said that wouldn’t sing on the Attentat-album).

Bruh, Koffi is lucky guy lmao

The way they did the generique at Bercy in live, it was fireeeeeeee. I'm very upset with the studio version, it lacks puissance. The mixage is not very good like we were expecting although they recorded the song here in Paris, I think some parts where did in Kin before they came in Paris for Bercy. Even in the credits of the song you can see that the mixer is JP Kiss

Wait this was recorded in Paris? I thought it was done at N’Diaye before they came. What for the next album was/is being recorded start to finish in Paris or am I wrong?

Yes bro, look here :
He’s using real drums there at 14:40 so I think this generique was recorded in Kin and probably mixed in Paris

I hate the mixes of drums in Congolese music, it makes our musicians seem limited in their respective instruments.

exactly makaba was like a marginal member of the group and funnily enough when he came back and wanted to use his authority it always created big clash,in 1991 1992 while he was in europe studying jazz wenge 4X4 arrived to do kin e bouger and the group almost splitted because of him insisting that everybody had to be paid, same thing in feux de l'amour same thing in titanic when he came to reclaim financial direction  while it had shifted fully to a private jb and mbuta kiss thing because of him remaining in europe

Did he study Jazz at a music academy? Or did he play alongside Jazz musicians to learn the genre? I always found that strange, because he never actually applied any of that into his music in Wenge or his solo albums.

806
This shit is trash lmao

yes aimelia is more hurt with bcbg departure because its  jb who brought him into wenge and he considered himself a strong co-founder of wenge bcbg but what happened is that lias was victim of jealousy of some of the admins because lias success was rising so much that he was approached by their donor sidekicks(he even had a little thing with mpela over that) and guys like seguin who had to position themselves were sent by admins to follow and snitch on him so loads of negative things were reported to jb who as we know like most leaders is not the type to take a week of balancing two versions before making a decision
his clip was shot the last if my memory is still intact it had the first appearance of heritier wearing jb clothes way bigger than him lol but they started snitching to jb that he is about to join quartier latin because he was receiving gifts from koffi and once discussing with champion over a potential move according to them so in most of 1999 jb was already not talking much to lias and the clip was not released for the simple reason that mbuta kiss refused  to pay the money to tv's because lias disrespected once, you guys know that " petit wana akomi tetu nakolakisa ye" thing and jb also wanted to see whether lias would stay or not, then what worsened the thing is that it was reported to jb that lias was seen getting out of the house of a jb sidekick with obvious "spice" on it to win his trust, and from then it became like ok now we'll give him "bouton ya molimo" which is the strongest bcbg 12 in other words  ignoreing until you explode inside and leave, and there was created by seguin and mbuta the plan of recording th without him knowing
all in all both sides had their fault but obviously congolese music as it is always make the leader's side react stronger
i have never heard a band member hurting seriously the leader with a 12 its always the other way round
the admins and many musicians were upset with the way lias received by far more money and gifts than most, even mpela and that he did not respect the code of wenge which is to offer something to admins on major tours and himself also  did not handle well like most a sudden big rise of success,he is naturally a very humble guy but in 99,9999999999 of cases even the most humble lose their heads a little bit with success in congolese music
barakuda was not released makaba wanted to do it in europe in belgium with atomium and all that with a little part to be shot at their family house in bandal and unfortunately him and jb started clashing over PPU concept he did not accept kibens, rio, chai and heritier being recruited while he was in europe

I'm guessing Alain Makaba's place was shaky because he always seemed to be in Europe. He was in Europe during the clips of Pentagon as well. At that time, BCBG toured often so I would imagine his lack of availability would eventually pass JB off.

808
That was a real 12 Aimelia received from JB, recording a videoclip for the song Liberation but not releasing it on VHS.
Yeah I can’t believe Jb did that, I wonder if they recorded a clip for Barakuda because technically Makaba was still in the band by the time they filmed those clips.

Never even realized it until yall brought it up lmao damn I'm surprised he didn't raise hell about his song not having a clip

809
I want audible guitars and a live drums, but knowing Fally...
What'd you mean knowing Fally, you do know this was recorded in Paris and not in Kin like everyone else's past albums

Told you so lol
