Very interesting story about our diaspora. MOLA is the only one to bring this type of interviews.
I noticed that Vieux Chelly is saying that the late Bokul and the late Kester were initiated to La Sape by Dikando and his group. But Kester and Bokul themselves said that they were initiated by Niarcos and the Brazza clique of la MEC.

So it’s true that all those big musicians and politicians used to transport weed back then. The late Likinga Redo went to jail for it, in Portugal.

However, MOLA does not have a lot of love for history in general, outside of music and mikilistes. For instance, he should’ve let vieux Chelly talk about the anti-mobutu politicians who used to be in Brussels in the 70’s. It’s an interesting topic. But he does not care about it. He stopped him and wanted to go back to classic mikilist talk.

But I still have to give MOLA props for being the only one bringing these type of stories to us so we can learn about the story of our diaspora.

I will wait for his rumba album... Miss me with this "urban" nonsense.

Ferre should stick to rumba, that's where he's strong. And instead of waisting time and ressources to be a pitiful trap artist (even that name "rumba trap" is pitiful and stupid), he should've reinforce his generic section to get strong there. Ferre should've kept his "local" lane. At one point, I thought he was the "messiah" of the genre, but it seems that he does not have the shoulders to carry that task. The crown is too big for his head. The genre will have to wait for another savior. Sad. Such a beautiful voice but a total lack of ARTISTIC direction.

This is a waste of money.

Man that means that conditions are not good for music in Congo. Government still censors what’s being produced? I am in US so literally anything goes music wise, especially in hip hop.

Conditions are not good because of the lack of funding and infrastructure, not censorship.

Censorship should be reinforced with all the bullsh*t I'm hearing today.

Indeed, it sounds nice.

The decline of the genre is linked to the decline of the country and its economy, not the combattants.

You can't have a thriving genre when you have basically no producers and an almost dead internal market.

When the situation in the country will get more stable, the genre will go back to where it's supposed to be.

However, it's sad for this generation, they are a lost generation.

Yep, Madilu was a very greedy, stingy, "maboko makasi" type of boss. LOL.

37
Yeah, Madilu had a band, but as you said, he never put them forward, so the band did not add to his star power like Koffi with QL or, to a lesser extent, Deafo with Big Stars.

All these Fatshi boyz were waiting to get into power to get married? LOL.

Congolese Music / Re: Aimelia Lias - Cabaret Sauvage
« on: December 16, 2021, 13:06 »
I won't even comment. It would be like shooting a dead man. Despite Aimelia lack of success. I think Poto is the the graveyard of Congolese musician simply because it is really hard to be successful in Europe as an African artist singing in an African language. Burns Boy, Magic System and all the people who got famous way more then Congolese people song either in English and in French so I think that is a reason too.

It's not even that.  Aimelia just lost the plot by thinking he can fill halls by himself. cabaret sauvage is very small. There are a enough congolese in Paris only to fill it.

Guys like Aimelia need to understand that they don't have the "it" factor to carry agroup by themselves, they need to form super groups. If instead of Aimelia alone, you ha him, Alain Mpela, Patient Kusangila, Djono, that place would've been full.

Nah, I love this song but Adolphe has way better songs, like "Tiens Moi La Main" for instance.

Congolese Music / Re: NEW URBAN SONG BY DJINO

Pathetic.

You see the importance of bands: it gave people a proper musical direction.

A lot of these dudes are talented singers, but they have no idea of what to do musically.

Djino is a talented guy, but this is not it.

Mfumu Vata made an interesting point. All these stars of the 80's faded in the 90's because they could not launch successful bands of their own. On the opposite side, those who came from the 80's and succeded had successful bands: Koffi and Defao. Kester is in the middle: his band was too much instable for him to go back to the top like in the 80's, but he did better than a kot of his 80's colleagues like Dindo.

The exception here being Madilu who became a relatively big household in the 90's without having a proper band.

Yep, Brazza is doing the job, I have to admit.

However, my man Levyson needs to lose the blond hair tho. It looks ridiculous.

44
Yep. This is one of these beefs I never knew where it came from. Of course, in the mid-2000 they were both on top of the genre, so a collision had to happen. But I never understood the event that triggerred the beef.

Is this show still on?

I don't feel any enthusiasm. I even heard rumors that a lot of people had their visa denied.

Smell like a ngulu scam. I hope Im' wrong.
