Congolese Music / Re: In loving memory of Patrice Emery Lumumba
« on: January 17, 2018, 19:46 »
This is not a post against Mobutu. It's a post for Lumumba.

Lumumba died for the unity of Congo. He wasn't perfect but he had pride for his people and he loved his people. We can't blame him for things he did not do. Maybe he would've been corrupt in the future, but there is no sign of corruption in Lumumba short reign as Congo prime minister. Lumumba was an idealist. Too much for his own good, but he wasn't corrupted.

Yeah, Lumumba talked harshly to Beaudoin. However, if you look at the events that preceded that situation, you'll see that Belgium, and some of its congolese allies, did everything they could to insult Lumumba and to insult the new  sovereignty of Congo. That's why Lumumba reacted that way. Lumumba wasn't a crazy dog, like the belgian elite tried to portray him.

Most congolese praise Mobutu for the national unity and pride. And I'm one of them. But people forget that Mobutu took those idea from Lumumba. Mobutu used to be Lumumba's sidekick. If it wasn't for Lumumba, Congo may not be united today. Lumumba was the first politician who lived as a congolese leader and not a tribal one. Lumumba should also be praised for congolese contemporary culture.

The last song I posted was commanded by Mobutu...

Today is the day PE LUMUMBA was killed.

So let's remember him with music dedicated to him.

May His soul rest in peace.

His dream will come thru one day...

On a side note : nobody today can make song like these. They're busy only praising scammers and prostitutes.

Congolese artists are greatly contributing to the death of congo music...........(producing too much rhumbas)80% of us Southern African s we did not start following Congolese because of rhumba actually we didn't even know they also do such music to the extent that this side people think rhumba is that fast music (seben/genrique) so people get less of seben thought the Congolese had handed over the crowb to the Nigeriaan........i even doubt if Seben wasn't there would be this now on top Naija Music. ........it's just clear that its smart Nigerians who took advantage of Congo's mistake and they also had that funny english advantage which most Africans already liked from their movies. Imagine for almost 10years people listened to Seben music ignoring the rule of song message and lyrics meaning but enjoying the language and arrangements to the extent of singing along, now what wil take us back there when every congo song is emotional, amour amour things. ........ why would we bother ourselves about that cause we can't hear a thing and besides who on earth can't do a love song. ....................2018 might be final year imagine 2017 it was just  (Zigida 95%,Kelvis Nkoyi 90%,Diemba 85%,Boss agbada%,Chouchou Miyake 30% cause its still new) that's all congolese thought we will dance to for the whole year. ...........Robinio coming in to show we can't rely on him with his tika koo error

Sure congolese artists made mistake in the way they handled things in the mid-2000. However, you're exaggerating the impact of seben.

Luambo and Ok Jazz had a firm grip on african music without playing seben.

The big problems in congolese music today are the lack of promotion due to the absence of funds and the fact new groups are not emerging.

JB and Werra have been friends for what ?  15 years ? But they have been enemies, with pause, for 20 years.

I think at this point they really hate each other.

Hello everyone,

My name is Paysan Congolais and I'm new to this board.

Like all of you, I'm a big lover of congolese music and I hope, for that reason, that we will get along well.

Peace.
