Congolese Music / Re: WOW SO MARIE PAUL IS IN DRC
« on: November 18, 2020, 19:48 »
When was the last time he was in Kin?

2012 was the last time. They blocked his passeport after singing for Etienne Tshisekedi and was even arrested by the ANR during the 2011 elections. It was his old manager Francis Kalombo (who was then one of the big men in PPRD) who helped him  to travel secretly to Brazzaville where he took the plane to Paris.

It isn't that he loves Europe to much. After Diagnostic he went he immediatly to Kinshasa and Matadi to promote his album. The problems were that it took time to record the album because he had to fund it for a big part by himself and that is not easy with those little jobs, also he had to stay in France for his papers. Then when he released the album he to pay those mutliple channels of Kinshasa. I remember him promoting his album in the restaurant of Maman Wiva, but nobody was listening to him when he was talking.

Effervescent 100%. Like the line "Ekachaka bala nga, po ba oyo balalaki pressé bakoma ko regretter, pe oyo ba bala te bayoka posa yako convoler."

Eternellement is a good song, but not a real duet, just Koffi doing a few vocals towards the end. I also didn't like the way mabanga messed the song up. The song was about Laura, but since that Laurent Lorenzo bought the song, they kind of played with the lyrics of the song. It normally about a girl, but aaah... That's the negative side of mabanga and donors/fans buying songs.
naw its a duet bro Koffi was singing but got smoked by a young fally lol, I didn't know that donors/fans can buy songs, wow so Koffi don't get any money from that record being played on Spotify, Apple Music, etc

haha lol, I see that you are a real muana poto. Koffi gets money from all his songs played on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, etc. (even those of his musicians, since that they aren't crediting as songwriters in those associations distributing royalties of songwriters and composer). In Congolese music when they are preparing an album, donors and fans mostly contact bandleaders to get a song dedicated to them (giving 15k, 20k, 30k) and the song which was orginally written for a girl living in Matete, Lemba or Limete being changed and her name replaced by the one of the donor. But the donors are mostly men, so sometimes its sounded weird when an artist is hyping about the legs, behind or lips.

After Maisha Parc they had to record a remix album of Pepe Kalle's songs and prepare an event for Pepe Kalle's 7th anniversary. But it went wrong because Djouna went to fight with Lofombo in the studio and Lofombo stopping with the project, saying that he would never talk with him again.

Congolese Music / Re: Madilu System - Djaffar clip
« on: November 14, 2020, 00:33 »
Musicians mostly ran away because of not being paid or them being in conflict with the bandleader or an influent bandmember. The team Madilu had from 1993 until 2000 was really determined like most youngsters who were members of big bands (wanting to become known, coming back from Europe with expensive clothes, etc.), but Madilu himself killed it by his behaviour (abandoning them sometimes when being on tour in African countries without paying and going back to Switserland and/or Paris, staffmembers who were present trying to abuse the dancers when looking a way to go back to Kinshasa, etc.) with most of them ending up by other bands. A man like Fofo Le Collegien already went to Europe multiple times with Sam Mangwana, why would he run away ? The same thing with Reddy Amisi who had a talented band (musicians like Marcahouse, Guy Bayaya, Blaise Createur, Richard, etc.) and fans waiting for them when Compteur a Zero a huge succes, but Reddy Amisi refusing thinking that they would run away. Reddy once went far by contacting Ferre to say that he must not bring Marcahouse to Europe, because he would ran away. It made Marcahouse furious and dissapointed at the same and the moment he came back from Europe, he went with his new car to Reddy's rehearshal to prove him a point and all fans following him and Reddy just staying silent.

I'm surprised how Empire Bakuba success was down in 96-97 and the Ninja outfits they wore that after they release Full Option. And Full Option was the last duo album of Pepe Kalle and Papy Tex. I could see why Dilu Dilumona never participated.

The Congolese music-scene changed with Kibinda Nkoy and Wenge's Pentagone album. People didn't like the old way of animating anymore the way Djuna, Ekokota, Nono and Beevans were doing (the school of Kintambo). They prefered the way Kaludji was doing the animation. That's also why Zaiko Lang Langa had the same problems from 1996 until the release of Nous Y Sommes. Didn't you hear Lofombo explaining the influence of Kaluji and that people started to mock Empire's way of animating, Desouza at some moment jumping in the animation and wrestler Edingwe once being so mad about Empire's animation, that he went on stage and threatening Djuna Mumbafu on stage, saying that they killed their band.

According to Djuna Mumbafu, Djuna himself came with that idea to come with that Nindja-concept. Because they were down and were looking something new. People were complaining about their musicians being old, etc. But the concept didn't really work, because they album was not really well received. In an interview Djuna Mumbafu made with Popol Mukelenge, Djuna explained that it's from that videoclip of Pesa Wax that "he" came with the idea of recruiting the musicians of Delta Force (Lofombo's version about the creation of Delta Force is very different).
