He was the first to join Congomikili along with Francis Kakonde then after 2 years he left to form Congobilili and then he left to form Congonumber1 with Addy Londole and Abeba Lipordo and after a conflict with pastor Blaise Manzambi, he decided to form Simbainfo, but it was not a succes.

Saint Marc is talking about the band Kibinda Nkoy of Doudou Kibinda, Papy Kakol, etc. Who had a huge succes in Kinshasa back in 1995 & 1996.

Yeah, Nico Kassanda was Congo’s first solist. He was a member of Grand Kalle’s band African Jazz and played there from 1953 to 1963 (in 1961 he left briefly to form a band with Tabu Ley, but they returned quickly after negociations). In 1963 he formed African Fiesta with his brother Déchaud Mwamba, Roger Izeidi and  Tabu Ley. In 1965 the band split with Tabu Ley forming African Fiesta National with Roger Izeidi  and Dr Nico renaming the band African Fiesta Sukisa. There would the first time in the Congolese music history a tribal rivalery starting with people coming form the Bandundu-province supporting Tabu Ley and those coming from Kasai supporting Dr Nico. Like since the start of Congolese Music there would also shots getting fired. Tabu Ley attacking Dr Nico with the song Likala Moto (calling Nico a drunk man) and Dr Nico reacting with the song Cimetiere (also known as Toyebi Nganga Na Bino). From 1973 Nico started to lose it when his musiclabel in Belgium became bankrupt. Later on he joined Tabu Ley’s band Afrisa briefly and migrated to West Africa. He died in 1985.

Marc Tabu was back in those years the most famous journalist of the Congolese diaspora (2006-2011). All those petite chéries ya Bruxelles were of him, mais tala lelo oyo...

The way Wenge Maison Mere used to praise Guy Malela, you would think that it was a handsome man. But soki omoni elongi naye aaargh.

Maybe didn’t understand my point. My point is that back in the days Congolese bandleaders were fighting about getting a gold record in France which was very difficult (100.000 copies), claiming then that they received gold records, while they were all fake, not certified by SACEM and not even sold 50.000 in France. While they could have easily received gold records in Belgium where the Congolese community is big and just sell 20.000 copies. Back in the days you people coming from Germany & Holland to buy CDS in Matongé, because you hann’t Congolese shops there (only one years later in Aachen and one in Rotterdam). But the ambiance wasn’t the same like in Matonge, so they prefered going there.

To sell their albums on in Chateaux Rouge at Photo Joël Mbetenge, Babs Music & Jhimmy Mukelenge that only the Congolese diaspora knows.

I’m not talking about nowadays, but back in the days (90’s & early 2000s).

I think it is because (even though they could make huge numbers since Belgium has a huuuuge Congolese community) Belgium really not give you much in terms of momey and return compared to France. If you become famous in France, Congolese, Ivorian, Cameroonians, Canadians and all the French speaking countries know you and if you know how to write good french lyrics like Stromae you can even be known in United States, while being a Belgium musician and sell in Belgium really bring you nowhere. For example except Stromae who purposefully choose to sing more in France than in Belgium do you know any other big Belgian artist? No

yes, Damso is from Belgium and Johnny Hallyday (RIP) who was seen as the biggest Francophone artist and Jacques Brel who was big legend in the Francophone music-scene. (Koffi even said that he's one of his rolemodels). French is btw Belgium's offical language

You will still receive the same amount of money if you are a member of SABAM, like if you are a member of SACEM. Because they will put all those sales of Europe, the US together and pay it every 6 months.

Its a shame that Congolese artists didn't structure their sales in Belgium. They could have received easily gold records in Belgium, instead of selling it en desordre.

It's a shame how everything that's happened made him no longer interested in music to the point he almost hates it. Even though he did well in the PPU I feel like he fitted better in QL cause in BCBG he wasted his time, it sucks that he was suspended (fired) from the group even when talking about it he has small regrets, I still think it was questionable that he got left behind for Bercy but Jordan was brought instead, seeing as Jordan was left behind frequently in all the african tours and Chikito was taken to everything and was on the main team. He could and should've rejoined QL after Jb abandoned the PPU in europe and after they split.

He performed with Koffi in Switserland & at Elysee Montmarte in 2007.
