Has just been released, has nice guitar parts, enjoy:

The new single seems very promising to me. He used to play some good solos with his fractions, now this one seems to be a nice one, too:

Congolese Music / Nyoka Longo's page on Facebook
« on: October 26, 2020, 01:34 »
It may seem to be just another page of many, but if you are a fan of Zaiko up to these days, check out the new official page of Nyoka Longo: https://www.facebook.com/YaJossart.NyokaLongo

Why I recommend it because it is very user friendly. When it was released, I sent a message there of something I wanted to recommend to the staff of Zaiko, and they replied very kindly. I don't know if it was Nyoka Longo himself or an entrusted person, but they seemed to take my feedback into consideration, and it is possible that they will be glad to react to other requests, too. So check it out if you follow the band recently as well.

I read a Zaiko biography somewhere that mentioned an odd thing, I am not sure it is true or not: that when some former musicians, like Evoloko, who left the group in the middle of the 70's rejoined near the end of the decade, there were actually two branches in Zaiko, one belonging to Nyoka Longo, and the other to Evoloko and some others, and they released albums separately. Can you mention some albums from that time that was created by the branch of Evoloko and friends?

I don't follow new releases day by day, can you please mention some that were released recently?

I have known this song for a while, but I didn't wonder it was ever performed live as well with a band. I thought is was only done for the radio, being a mostly programmed song. They adapted it to band performance quite well, though.

Do you know if this song was ever released on a recording, or it is available only in concert version?

Who are the rhythmist and soloist in this video? I don't recognise them. Ficarre?

I have just noticed it. There is a seben right at the beginning from the Etat Major album.

Congolese Music / Who was the animator here?
« on: February 26, 2020, 00:07 »
I wonder who was the guy doing the animation in this song? It seems to me as if I could hear him on the album Revaloriser by Familia Dei:

Congolese Music / Combattant talking about something
« on: February 24, 2020, 20:47 »
I have just found this video:

https://www.facebook.com/571713842913598/posts/2823003547784605/

So far I thoght combattants are angry with musicians because they praise corrupt politicans back home. But seeing the Zairean flag behind the guy, I am thinking about maybe the fact that they are angry is because the musicians who remained at home are not loyal to Mobutu and the Zairean clan any more but to the new president, Kabila and his successor.  So what is the situation actually? Are they motivated by humanitarian or political reasons?

Congolese Music / Dany Engobo - Le Baobab
« on: February 21, 2020, 00:39 »
I saw the trailer of this album back in 2014/15, but forgot about it afterwards, I thought these songs haven't been released in the end. But I have just checked Dany's Spotify library, and it was there. So this album is called Le Baobab, and it has some really nice sebens. Check them out if you haven't done so:

I guess the solo was played by Diblo Dibala. The quality is much better on Spotify.
