Congolese Music / Sakis poster needed!
« on: February 10, 2014, 10:05 »
Does anyone have a high resolution photo of Sakis? Like these:

He also had good moments recently. I liked he was that "singer" type of atalaku, not very common recently. Without him, the Belgian branch of Zaiko of Adamo won't be the same...

I think he was best on Nous Y Sommes.

All right, I noticed it, we can sort this out. Which account do you want to keep? You can write me or DJ SLY in private message to tell. If you want, you can use your new account with your previous nickname, too. Tell us how you want us to set it.

Did you try the password recovery option anyway?

I agree with that a new energetic band should come. Something that is similar what Extra and Wenge Musica was earlier. I think the problem is not only the difficulty with CD sales. Several musicians who came to Europe are now in better circumstance, yet they deviated far from Congolese music. There are several showing up as disco dj's, etc. I don't say they are prohibited to change to other styles, but it seems it is not just because of the money problems why we are left hungry. Besides, I also don't find it wise that it became a trend for every band member to form an own group later. It just decreases the quality of music in the long run. They should find the balance between forming a new band and staying together. Individualism went too far in this sense by now. The Congolese flavour is also starting to disappear from the music. I respect Nyoka Longo in the sense that he is trying to keep a good standard for his band. They still produce listenable things. Also respect to other exceptional figures who didn't give up the authentic way!

Congratulations on the new platform SLY and all the work you have put in. My only worry is that some old members might still be searching for vibes d'afrique. perhaps it might help if you put this as ONE of the meta tag descriptions on the websites source code. Not an HTML expert but it just might do the trick

Good idea, will add that tag to the code!

You don't have to worry about that. DJ SLY owns the adress: www.congovibes.com, so the community won't disappear now. Things are now managed privately.

Extract of the DVD in which Roxy talks about his career, in particular about the time he replaced Manuaku in Zaiko and how he got his nickname, Nyawu.

This short extract is already showing good things. That concert that is shown from the TV was a great concert, it is promising that Roxy shows tricks from the songs played there. I wonder if he is showing full songs from that concert. Anyway, I also wonder when that concert will find it's way to a DVD.

I think these dvd's are best suited for advanced learners not beginners. Jeannot Bel has also produced another one for a good friend and soloist Renato Mondele formerly of Defao's Big Stars, the tutorial is out soon.

When I talked to Mondele, it was not clear to me whether his DVD will be a reissued version of Jeannot's DVD, or it will be a new tutorial supervised by Jeannot?
