Congolese Music / Re: POSTER EXTRA MUSICA NOUVEL HORIZON CHOC

I have a suspicion this will be short lived as well, but I wonder how they will sound and how Roga's group will sound, whether their sound will change.

Congolese Music / Re: INTROUDICNG A NEW LANGUAGE
« on: December 23, 2019, 08:47 »
Unfortunately this is not possible here. We, who founded the forum (DJ Sly and later me) speak mostly English and we intended to create a place for the English speaking Congolese music fans. English is more widely spoken in the world, and this way, the forum can be read by more people, thus being a bigger advertisement for Congolese music. If people start speaking Lingala here, many people in the world won't be able to join us, and Congolese music related talk will become much more restricted to a small group. Moreover, we, the admins, won't be able to check time by time what's going on in the forum, and in case someone has a problem, like recently, we will have to ask translators to learn about the issues, and that would be quite a complicated way to maintain the forum.  Lingala speaking would only be useful if we would also speak fluent Lingala.

Congolese Music / Should the ban be released for anastasio?
« on: December 21, 2019, 21:50 »
I, as the admin, banned asnastasio, I gave my reasons here: http://congovibes.com/congolese-music/ot-today-is-a-sad-day/30/

Some members however feel I was strict. So let me know your opinion, and case it is so, I don't mind giving anastasio a last chance.

Congolese Music / Re: OT: Today is a sad day
« on: December 21, 2019, 21:45 »
Personally I feel he made a mess here and I would rather like to see him open his own blog that I would gladly link. Also he was warned many times not to open to many new topics per day. I have warned him like 3x-4x already, well before posts mentioning problems with him showed up. But to stay demcocratic, I will do a poll and let the outcome decide.

Okay, guys, so anastasio is banned from the forum. I came to this decidion, because I required him not to open more than 2 new topics per week in the Congolese Music section, yet, he already opened 3 yesterday as I counted. He was offered to open more topics in a Blog that I created for him (and I gladly create it for any member who wants to write much, not just for anastasio). Moreover, I found it odd he bumped topics too often, and posting too many videos that seemed to be pointless for me. He could, however, have posted them to his blog. And it is not good seeing an old, respecred member leaving because of him.

However, on the other side, I do not understand why Mvulusi did not PM-med me or DJ Sly, and describe us the situation. It is not the way to leave just like that. Me and Sly has not time to follow everything that happens here, but in case someone has problems, they are always welcomed to send a message to us, or make a notice of it in the Support section. I would like to ask every member to do this before they decide to delete their account.

Mvulusi is welcomed back in case he changes his mind.

And as a kind of last chance, though anastasio is banned, if he feels he would like to express himself through writing posts, in case he opens a blog anywhere else by himself, I don't mind linking it on the forum sidebar. Mentionning it just for the case he reads it.

Okay guys, just to let you know what is going on in the background between me and anastasio:

I have already noticed days ago that the amount of topics anastasio is opening per day will flood the forum. I started discussing this with him in PM, he didn't notice until now, but he replied me just today, and I hope now I can sort this out with him. I asked him not to open 5 new topics per day in the Cogolese Music section, but this is a rule that refers only to him. Just because others members usually don't open so many topics per day that floods the forum.  Anyway I suggested to him that I open a blog section dedicated to him, where he can post as many things as he wants if he feels like, and it won't disturb others in the main music section.

Apart from this, let's talk about new topics amount in the forum as general:

I feel the amount has been fine so far, and this became only a problem now as anastasio joined us. I will find a solution for him, but if you feel this new topic amount was a problem even before, here is what I can do on the technical side:

1. I can further segment the main Congolese Music section to even more subsections, where only revelant topics can be opened. Like: Albums, News, etc. If you would like to go this direction, Please recommend subsection category titles for me, and I create those sections for you, that way new topics won't disappear so fast.

2. I can also install a button where you can see a listing of topics in an order of the time of their opening, so you don't miss anything. Or at least try, will have to check first if the coding allows this.

3. Limiting new topic amounts per day is a solution, but at the moment the coding of the forum does not allow this. I can put limits on people, but only in terms of posts, so this will limit replying abilities as well of members, that would be useless. This doesn't mean however that in case I or DJ Sly asks someone to try to post less to keep things in order, should not follow our guidelines,

So feel free to post your feedback here, let me know, and we change things accordigly. But until further notice, noone is limited, only anastasio, but with him, I am discussing this anyway in PM.

And let me emphasize again, anastasio should not take it as an assault, I don't mind if he wants to open lots of topics, but he will have to wait with that until we find a solution for him. He is welcomed here like anybody else and I am glad if he has subjects to discuss.

Now Bencuri said to me on my e-mail that everybody posted 5 topics but not more because of...

Now i agreed his reaction.

This rule was actually created exclusively for you, because you are the one who is postig ten or more new topics per day, that is flooding the forum and taking space from others. But don't take it as an assault, you didn't notice this, it's fine, if you feel like you would like to write, just write, but you have to respect others as well. Follow the guidelines I sent you in private message, and it will be just fine. It is a new situation, we have to manage it somehow.

Congolese Music / Album artwork achive
« on: December 09, 2019, 22:59 »
Hi all!

I have noticed that posting album artwork became quite popular here in the forum recently, so I decided to discuss it in a bit more detail. I do not mind this activity, I am glad that you feel like sharing all this stuff. Unfortunately here in the forum, legally we have no chance to make a separate section for album artworks. However, this would be the optimal solution, so every stuff could be found easily in one section. Recently, I am very busy, but I will try to find a solution, like making a space available for this artwork at a third party site that we can link here, a space where you can share the scans easily. Until then, having no better option, follow the directions here:

Thanks guys all who contributed. I managed to raise 40£ for Shabere, not much, but other people were doing fundraising in London, too, and finally the sum collected reached the level that is enough to give this guy a burial he deserves.

I don't even know which records he contributed to, I only know his work from 2014 up to now. Usually he only played live in Renato's band, on the main albums there were others playing the solo, but originally he was the creator of several tunes that the band played, and on singles he played too, sometimes solo, sometimes bass. He was a good bassist as well. I will really miss him, because as I mentioned, he was very authentic in approach to the guitar. I planned to record some demos with him to be able to use them for later songs, and that way I could have a lot of those pure Congolese tunes. Unfortunately, this chance is now gone, however we are working on an album with Renato, that has maybe the best tunes Shabere ever created. So at least those tunes remained as a heritage, and I am really glad we recorded those, because I am sure it will inspire future players. Though it is uncertain when we can release that album, but I am doing my best to finish that project in the near future.

Hello guys!

Shabere, whom you may not know very well, was the guitarist of Renato Mondele and his band: African Ngwasuma in London. Though I don't know too much about his background in Congo, but being the manager of the band, I knew him well, and I can tell he was a very talented guy. What I really liked about him was that he was so authentic. His art represented something that was true Congolese. Though he is gone, his music remains with us, and I am glad that on the forthcoming album of the band, some very nice pieces of his creativity will be heard. I also managed to capture him on camera at his home 2 years ago, where he showed some guitar tricks, that I will upload in the future sometimes, and that will be really helpful to others.

Sadly, in spite of being creative, his life was not easy, and unfortunately he did not leave anything after himself, property or money. Actually he was in hospital in the recent year. At the moment, we are raising funds to be able to bury him.

I would appreciate if you could support our mission, and make a donation.  I am planning to raise 1000-2000 GBP for the purpose. if you could help in that, it would be great. Any amount would help, even if it's just a few pounds or dollar.

You can send donation to the PayPal account of the band leader, Renato Mondele to: renatomondelepay@hotmail.com

You can send money to my bank account as well. I have different currency accounts for EUR, USD, GBP and other currecies, request details from me in a private message. Maybe we I have an account in your country, and that way it means less fees for you.

Alternatively you can your donation by Western Union to me, request for my details in a private message, too.

I will report the level of the donated sum here every day in a comment. The donated cash will be given to Renato who is dealing with the process of the burial. We will make some photos of the burial as well so you can see we could make it happen.

You can donate in person as well at Maestro Bar if you live in London, see the details on this flyer below:

Finally, some videos with Shabere:

He is the guy singing Shabacika in the beginning and then playing on stage:

Here he plays bass in the studio:

Thank you in advance!
