Congolese Music / Re: BRIGADE THREATENS TO TAKE WERRA TO COURT
« on: January 05, 2024, 18:00 »
This is interesting: By law, when an Atalaku works under a leader, my understanding is that it is the songs that are copyrighted and not calls or vocals and these are copyrighted under the leaders. Sima ekoli was a call under a generique produced by Werrason. The owner of the generique is Werrason and many people played on it starting from Lobeso, instrumentalists and other back end guys. In this case, will the instrumentalist also stop everyone from using their sima ekoli instrument sounds?

If I'm employed under Microsoft and the company produces an innovation I worked on as an employee, do I own it? It would be good to understand how copyright works  when it comes to music, otherwise we will have a whole chain of instrumentalists also claiming they played the sound. They will go ahead and stop all band leaders from playing songs they played a role in without acknowledging them or getting permission from them....sounds awkward!

Anyway, I stand to be corrected, Im not an expert in copyright law.

Young brother to one of Wenge MMM's respected advisors madam Claudine Kinwa. I'm sure you have heard of that name in songs.

He is better than Yamukolo. He is an Alfred solo type.

Congolese Music / Van Vedes- WMMM New Lead Solo!
« on: December 25, 2023, 06:22 »
Looks like Werrason has settled with Van Vedes as lead solo assisted by Yamukolo after trying so many soloists to replace Makaba. Ong Back Solo and Bunangana will play with the reserve band and also participate once in a while. I'm not sure what will happen to Mayi yalobo, he is not seen in concerts and rehearsals of late.

Van Vedes is impressive, he is like Alfred Solo and can be as good as Kimbangu.

Congolese Music / Werrason Zenith 2024
« on: December 20, 2023, 11:41 »
Werrason is changing Europe concert from Orleans to Zenith. He is also scheduled to perform in the USA. These concerts will come after the release of Morote whose exact release dates are yet to be announced.

He is under immense pressure from his fans to re-energise his band both singers and dancers.

I fail to understand what the problem really is with Chay. I expected a lot from him in his solo career. He doesn't have the best voice out there but he has that rare melancholic voice that makes people easily fall in love with him. I'm personally a big fan of his lines in BCBG songs.

I totally agree with Archos, Jama and Golbert have underperformed...perhaps the lowest WMMM has reached in the animation department since its formation.

Congolese Music / IDIOFA- WERRASON WANTS MWANA NSUKA AND BALOTELLI
« on: December 10, 2023, 08:44 »
During one of the most packed local concerts yesterday in Idiofa, Chay Ngenge asked to present his female dancers. I can confess I haven't seen such energetic female dancers in a long time. I can only compare them to Bibycia, Kadogo and Zina...some of the best dancers to have ever gone through WMMM.

The two dancers are Tina and Ujana. Chay calls Tina as Balotelli and Ujana as Mwanansuka..obviously names picked from his BCBG female colleagues. Werrason was forced to ask for a direct transfer of the two to WMMM right on stage...left Chai and fans in laughter. They thereafter integrated so well with the rest of the dancers during choreography and Werrason kept shouting Ujana's name, who danced Zenga Loketo so well. Werrason has been refreshing his female dancers line up after Chida remained in London. He so far has Kechi who seems to be his favourite ( a very good dancer). I'm sure him, Chay and Pulusi will do some business in the background to have the two integrated as they are very close.

Your prediction on Wasabo is spot on. He is already the fans' favourite both at their new practice hall Kikwanza and during local tours. Jamiaque and Golbert are on their toes. Werrason openly told Kakol that Wasabo is the real deal and deserves chance as he produces fire calls and dances.
