If only Wazekwa had Suzuki Luzubu or Bouro Mpela voice, we would have had a big big star.

Congolese Music / Re: MANZAMBI & THE MANAGER
« on: February 17, 2023, 09:00 »
As you guys know I am a Musician who sings and I think that last hear is when I started to take my music way more seriously colliding with the Album and the single that I have release currently I have 9 songs out, and a few months back I have decided to do everything in my power to get my music across, so I have met after months and months of exchanged E-Mail with this really big Italian manager, who discovered people like Cesare Cremonini (a legend in Italy) Modà (very famous rock group back in the 2010s) and who made Coez's song La Musica Non C'è a massive hit. So once there I have given him some of my songs who were clearly Kinshasa House based a lot of drums Kakol Style and a lot.of traditional instruments on it and of course with a lot of Lingala on top of Italian and what he said really broke my heart, so much so that despite me being a lover of music, I always have my headphones on, I made the return trip from his office to my home jn the car without listening to A single note of music, with just the road sounds with me thinking on the car.
He told.me that I was good, but Italy wasn't ready for this hypnotic style of music and that my music was too much monotonous.
Tbh I can understand him saying thst my music was monotonous or hypnotic but what really made me go crazy was the Italy is not ready for this type of music, like how? Have you spoken to all the 60 milion Italians and they told you so? Or is just a preconceived notion that you have on me just because I put Lingala.in the track? Then after that he told me that my style is more suited for this type of song

And I was like... OK
And I left. So from then on I took a singing teacher and I am trying to make my style.more "Italian"
This is to show you how sometimes a lot of Euro African artist have to change their style to adapt, I am sure that things like this are what Gims, Djadju, Stromae, Naza, KeBlack, Youssoupha, Niska and many other have to went through to get their music played. If you were at my place what would have you done?

Is there any successful black musician in Italy?

Back in the days it very normal to sing with only 3 or 4 mics. Back in the 60s it was already to much when you had 4 singers on stage. They were prefering duets and 3 singers as max. Emeneya tried to replicate it with Makolin (wanting to copy the duet of Tabu Ley and Paul Ndombé) when recording albums in the mid 80s. From the 70s most bands started to sing with 4 mics and 5 when it was a band of a solo-artists. It because of Koffi Olomidé that they started to use 6 mics and later even going far with 8 mics. I guess because of having to many talented singers in his band and him not wanting to see them wait for x & y to sing song with the 4 mic system. Papa Wemba himself kept that system of 4/5 mics until his first Zenith of 1999 where he used 8 mics for Nouvelle Ecriture. Clan Wenge ended up by adopting Koffi's system of 6 mics.

About this concert, most of QL-singers were left behind during this tour. Koffi only brought Willy Bula, Suzuki, Babia Ndonga and Scola Miel. Babia was put in jail and Scola Miel decided to leave when QL was about to tour in the US which made Koffi just sing with only 2 singers during this tour until their return to Kinshasa.

Thank you for this.

How long before Koffi smashes one of Wazekwa’s side chick? lol

Not smashing Wazekwa's side chick really but I just hope Koffi is not going to hurt Wazekwa again. You share my fears mate.

This was well produced for 1995. But was it common to just do a concert with two, three singers? How has Suzuki managed to maintain his voice for more than three decades? He's special.

Aaaa Babia Ndonga chokoro RIP. These are the times people went not to watch or see the band leader but to see and watch that one singer, that one dancer, that one guitarist but what do we have today? Selfishness!!! These are the times when people went to watch Suzuki, these were the times when fans knew all the dancers by name. I consider those that had the opportunity to watch some of these concerts lucky.

Good work archos. Deep down Wemba was a good man.

Lol no he wasn't

Ndeko no single artist has ever encouraged their main song writers to go solo in the history of Congolese music ;D

Good work archos. Deep down Wemba was a good man.

Lol no he wasn't

He probably wasn't the best to work for (not paying musicians and sex scandals) but he seemed like a very down to earth  person.

Lol nearly something with 90% of men so I won't bother about.
