Congolese Music / Re: ONE OF ONE WITH FERRE IN KENYA« on: December 18, 2016, 15:39 »Ferre Gola is in Kenya and his second show in the Coastal city of Mombasa planned for last night bounced like the first one which was to take place last weekend in Nairobi. Apparently the first show bounced because he 'missed his flight' to Nairobi. Probably payment issues. 2646
Congolese Music / A Congolese guitarist playing Benga« on: December 18, 2016, 11:55 »
This Congolese played benga style guitar (popular in Kenya) just to prove he can..hehehe.
This helped me differentiate congolese style from the kenyan style. https://vid.me/l6hV 2647

Congolese Music / Drummer alalisa tempo ?« on: December 15, 2016, 21:12 »
This is an expression frequently used in reference to Seguin drumming. Any drum expert who can explain this to me. Feel free to add the technical bits.

Congolese Music / Re: Abel De Charme talks more about why he left Bcbg« on: December 14, 2016, 09:46 »So Shamala, if I got you right, it is until I have a godfather amongst the "lord(s)of the manor" (Kibens,Seguin,JDL,Rio,Roger) that I will become untouchable in BCBG.... Really!!! Is that a healthy work environment? Is that the appropriate way to fair in a group? Once I don't have them to help me "cushion" the internal politics therein, they would definitely make my stay a hellish one.. You called these mean men "mentor/protector"...Wow! This explanation is really wonderful. I mean whenever you join,a senior guy can help you navigate the internal dynamics of a band. There is usually intense competition internally and if you are good chances are you will receive flak. "protectors" are not necesssarily Kibens,Seguin,JDL,Rio,Roger I just used them as an example. Backbiting, backstabbing sorcery etc just to get ahead in any band is quite evident. About fans I meant fans pressure is what will force changes. 2652
Congolese Music / Re: Abel De Charme talks more about why he left Bcbg« on: December 14, 2016, 06:09 »Nono Fudji ... I think you don't leave just for the sake. Some understand their deficiencies and understand they cannot make leaders. In BCBG no-one is forced to stay, why do they complain after leaving. I think this nature of internal politics is not unique to BCBG. Let me offer two pence worth of opinion. In BCBG it pays to have a mentor/protector who will cushion you from the internal politics. Cellulaire was strong until his "protectors " left him. Independent individuals like Metreau have it tough when in conflict. At the moment touch Blaise you touch Seguin, Fusee... Genta Le Quado.... Kibense Tolbert.... Ficcare etc. Zulema is favored by JB. Leaving or individual defections will not shake BCBG or any of the big bands because the have too much muscle. I suggest that such defections lead to formation of group bands and not solo artists. I was just listening to Marquis and Academia and my my would they have succeeded. However big egos is not a strange subject. Check on any who left and see how they fare on... Djino, Chai, Bogus. Finally if you watched the four hours BCBG concert you could have seen a very aggressive audience with demands and this was not in Kinshasa. Now this will make JB and CO. listen. Hope for revival lies in aggressive fans and audience. 2653
