Not sure I’d count any of those people as they weren’t OK Jazz members at the time of Franco’s death.
All of the above except Bola Bolithe were Bona fide TPOK Jazz members.
Jollie Detta for example sang with FRanco on the Hit "Layille" Wuta Mayi, Michelle Boyibanda were vocalists in a number of TPOK Jazz hits, especially in the 70's Nana Akumu joined OK Jazz in the 70s as well Of Youlou Mabiala He was refeered as Franco's Prince

The question was asked of BIG singers. None of the new generation are covering Wuta Mayi, Diatho or Boyibanda songs, but okay.
So sad man. Erick Mpoyi gave him is flowers before he passed and that was beautiful to see. The last of the 3 musketeers, Simaro, Ndombe and now Djo Sex. I was 5 in the 80s when I first recognized his voice in KSK. He sang that song with so much conviction it sent chills through my spine. Ever since, he was my favorite vocalist in OK Jazz. RIP Djo Sex
Serge Mabila is one of my favorite singers so this is exciting. Ferre not wearing a mask is tearing my nerves up though. I know it’s not a big deal in Congo, but traveling to, around, and from Europe is risky enough.

Depends on what you mean by successful.
Baby Ndombe (Pepe Ndombe) is probably the most successful offspring of OK Jazz when he joined Wenge MM but his stock diminished after he left.
Christy Lova (Ya Ntesa Dalienst) last I heard is signed to F’Victeam
Eric Mpoyi (Djo Mpoyi) does shows in Kinshasa doing OK Jazz songs through his cover band Djo Mpoyi Mania. He sounds just like his father, and his band are the closest to OK Jazz you’re going to get right now. He briefly sang in OK Jazz, the current generation, managed by Franco’s son Emongo, who also runs the Un, Deux, Trois night-club. Josky Kiambukuta has been mentoring Eric and the band.

You asked where are the families I answered that question. The oniy successful artist was Baby Ndombe, 20 years ago. You and I both know these WMM solo acts don’t last, especially when bridges are burned.

3) Franco Mongo. Joined after Franco’s death but died soon after. He was to fill Franco’s singing and lead/mi-solo role. Rumor has it he was cursed for filling Luambo’s shoes.
Nice song. But these producers are running out of ideas. Just every new song I hear now has a regurgitated Franco line. He had magic when he used the late Thierry Mantuika from OK Jazz on his last album.
Excellent review Archos. I’ve been playing this album more than Tokoss II and the more I listen the more it grows on me. Racoeur is such a great gem and it’s so poetic. This rumba is in the same league as Confession Intime and BM in my opinion. My only issue are the lack of sebenes. Hopefully this will be satisfied with Mi-Demon. Any word when this will drop?
