The first Dynastie was very very good! I hope this one is even better. Probably the top Congolese album this year next to reddy Amisi.

I have a question, does Legende have two volumes or three volumes?

I thought it would be 1

Is he rereleasing some songs? Some songs there looked like they have been on Control.

I sure hope not. I hope this album isn’t monotonous. We need some sort of sebene.

Koffi new album in 25 November . It’s ridiculous.

There was alot of demand from donors to have songs on that album because of Koffi saying that it would be his "last album". Back in 2014 he proudly said that he would the first Congolese artist to release a 3-cd album. But after that he saw that Werrason stole his idea by releasing Fleche Ingeta as a 3-cd album that year, he came with 4 cd when releasing 13ème Apotre in 2015. Fabregas would follow Koffi's example in 2016 by coming with 38 songs for his double album Poison/Antidote "Je Pense"

Koffi himself made the album flop by coming with 39 songs,  many had already before listening to it something like "damn 39 songs". I remember people on social media saying that 13eme apotre is an album for unemployed people (album ya ba chomeurs). The second thing is that many were already fed up with Cindy and already knew that there would nothing special just songs about sex like BEK and Abracadabra, despite Férre Gola, Evoloko Lay and Fabregas participating as guest stars. Than also that negativity/polemic about Ferre Gola not wanting to record the videoclip of Cobetox with Koffi after that the album got released.

The third thing was that Koffi himself stopped the promotion of the generiques his atalaku's made in that album by overpromoting Selfie and its remix version Selfie Tournevis and giving his atalaku's the order to not promote their generiques. This made atalaku Tresor Nzinga mad, deciding to leave Quartier Latin after that Koffi also started to ignore him at some point

There were like 6 or 5 generiques in 13e Apotre and each atalaku has his own generique. It was the same concept Koffi had for the EP he wanted to prepare in 2012 called "Mwana ya Abacadabra". Which was then recorded  to counter Power and Boite Noire which both not ended up by getting released in December 2012. Equalizer, Tresor Nzinga and Aspirine having each their own generique. But for whatever reason, Koffi decided to later to change his mind and give those generiques to Cindy to animate on them and adding 3 remix versions of his rumba's to make from it Cindy's EP (called 6-6-6) to celebrate her 6th year in Quartier Latin.

From the 5 generiques made next to Selfie, only Tuer de Lion had some succes the year after it, the moment the videoclip got released on youtube. It was due to people linking the generique to Papa Wemba's death who passed away one month before the videoclip came out and the clip being strange. Tuer de Lion means in French (The Killer of Lions), Koffi had joined Lions Club and people of the streets claiming that Papa Wemba broke the oath by openly attacking Koffi Olomidé on tv. However they forgot that the song was part of 13eme Apotre and a not single recorded in 2016.

Many bandleaders would criticize Koffi in interviews or through their spokesmen about releasing 39 songs. The funny thing is that most of them all ended up by recording around 40/50 for their coming albums due to not being able to get quick through music (Them not performing in Europe anymore, vip-concerts being peanuts and he era of companies like Bralima (Primus) and Bracongo (Skol) giving big money for public concert being finished). They would try a different strategie by picking 30 songs max and release it in volumes, which also didn't work well. In most cases just 5/4 songs really hung in peoples head and the rest quickly being forgotten.

The person that attacked Koffi the most for 13eme Apotre was BCBG spokemen Blanchard Mosaka. Normally they hadn't the right to talk because he hadn't released an album since Soyons Serieux in 2011

Congolese need to hire advisors prior to releasing. You have to make a balanced album. Half rumbas or experiment and the other sebene. I feel like Koffi and other artists have lost track of that model and just release songs we forget and then the album is unsuccessful.

BEK wasn't leaked in full. It was just the generique and a rumba which didn't make it on the tracklist (dedicated to Herita Ilunga) were leaked. BEK was meant to be released on Feb 14th 2008. The album was already mixed and send to the factory, the clips were ready, spokemen already saying on tv that fans have to be ready on Febuary 14th, posters being hanged everywhere and a teaser being made. There are some people that say that Koffi himself was behind the leaks and not being satifisfied with the reaction of the public, which made him postpone the release date. He would after the release of BEK, use the leak as excuse to not having released the generique Bla Ba Bla on CD in his interview with journalist Paulin Mukendi, while it was just a 12 to Gessac.

In the same period Wazekwa released Que Demande Le Peuple from which the generique had a huge succes. It got Koffi angry because they attacked him with the cri "moto ya liboma aliaki na fulu". Koffi wanted to react against it and had to look for some proverbe, which he did in start of l'Eau l'Eau l'Eau, generique Bendele and towards the end of the song Plat Favori. In the same period rich fans who saw that Koffi still hadn't released BEK wanted to have songs dedicated to them. Koffi went once again back to the studio, adding the songs Ninelle, Katagourouma, Lovemycine and modifying some songs who were to explicit.

In the period of Feb 14th to the release-date August 7th, he came every month with a new release-date. There were also multiple scandals, like Koffi being boycotted by the Congolese press for 1 month after a camera-man of Raga-TV got beaten by his guards during a vip-concert, Koffi apparently haven stolen money in the studio (Late Emeneya would mock Koffi for 2 years about that in interviews), a conflict with Diego Music about money, etc.

Rumors say that Koffi in the same period wasn't sure about himself and wanted for Werrason to release Temps Present first. There are also rumors saying that Koffi was waiting Fally to release Arsenal des Melodies to release BEK in the same period (Fally's album was already finished in summer 2008, but just waited 1 year extra and added later Bicarbonate, Sexy Dance and Chaise Electrique which was first a rumba).

About Abacadabra it was that someone close to Koffi who was mad if I remember well about cars and mabanga's. He contacted combattans and they made 23 songs leak in the period of the presidential elections in november 2011. Many songs wearn't meant to be on Abacadabra and weren't finished yet. The songs Yaka Alex and Boulevard would end up in EP Bana Zebola which got released in 2015 and Toukou-Toukou (which is a short version of generique On est Ensemble) as bonus on Acadababra-dvd. After that the album got leaked, Koffi came on tv to calm fans down and angry mabanga customers down, by saying that it wasn't the final version. Abacadabra was like he wanted with BEK first to release the album on Feb 14th, but because of the leak he had to rush to the studio to finish the album. In meantime combattans like Rex Kazadi, Youyou Muntu-Mosi, etc. went to share cds of the leaked version for free in Paris. The album got finally released on dec the 23 and immediatly got huge succes in the Congolese community and including combattans listening to it in their cars and parties. The bad thing is that Diego Music lost alot money although the album being number one everywhere. He didn't pay the remaining part of the money, which why Koffi beat him when he heard that he was about to produce Werra's EP Sattelite.

13eme Apotre was not leaked because Koffi learned of his mistake this time lol. However,  nobody was able to remember one of the 39 songs (except Selfie) and for the first time in his career  since his breaking through with Diva in 1985, he got a solo album flopping very hard.

That album was a costly mistake. 39 songs that I’ve forgotten. That album could have been much different.

the worst problem along with the decline of the genre is that now we have majority of fans who just want our artists to follow any trend to exist on the african map,if its amapiano doing bits bin rumba and sebene given them amapiano,if its mopacho give them,if its even one day foreign artists making millions of views with a song just replicating animal sounds, bin rumba and generique do that
there is a wrong perception that to be competitive we have to be like others,if anything those we are competing again inspired themselves from us to create their beats,so if we are sxxxing in our pants against people who copied us instead of upping our game in what we are naturally strong at there is a problem
for example asiatic top countries to go from where they were and be light years ahead of the whole africa they mixed their tradition and culture of hardwork with the western technology and then developped their own way, never in the opposite you'll see european or american trying now where they are to try to copy japanese or chinese or qatari because they are "the hype of the moment"
the problem is that instrumentists and atalakus are not given the right context to up their creativity like in the past and that singers are more and more interested about just securing the bag so produce 30 album songs  5 10k minimum each song quality or not as long as the mediatic machine is well paid to build noise about it(or not) lets go

You are absolutely right here. It’s getting very sad sadly for us. I miss the days of sebene and generique that alone would attract new listeners cause it’s unique. Not the amapiano, afropop stuff which is ok. But it’s not the music that attracted me to African music in the first place. Although it is still very good.

Those songs don’t seem promising :/

I listened and got so disappointed. I had waited to see if Koffi could redeem himself but from this evidence, I will just keep the memory and songs before Abracadabra. I will wait for the full release but am not holding my breath

This man had the ideal formula back in the day with Loi, attentat, force de frappe, affaire d etat but now we are getting this type of music. I don’t know if this something that will help his career down the road. I hope there is a generic or sebene there.

Had we known back in the day when he was releasing heat after heat setting and extremely high standard -I bet someone woud've advised him to drop some garbage in between to avoid the 16 year overall cold streak he’s been on

Man you aren’t wrong. We have declined big time in this genre. This is just beginning to be a nightmare. I don’t even know what is being played in Congo these days.
